According to this site https://bettinginsiderjournal.com/boxing/usyk-vs-joshua-2-odds/

The opening betting odds for the rematch are as follows.

Quote
Usyk vs Joshua 2 Odds
Boxer   Odds
Oleksandr Usyk   -225
Anthony Joshua   +172

It's Usyk who is the favorite, and I believe this is just right as Joshua vs Ruiz fight is way different, this one, we saw a serious beatdown on Joshua and he was dominated by Usyk in most of the rounds.

So odds are 1,44 for Usyk and 2,72 for Joshua. Probably if now it was possible to make a bet and immediately find out the result of the battle, then I would bet on Usik. But I don't see any point in making such a long-term bet even on a profitable coefficient. In addition, due to a pandemic (and common causes that often arise), the battle may be postponed for an even longer period.

Indeed Joshua have lost his face in the crowd during his fight with Ruiz and also against Usyk in their last match. No one believes in him anymore that he'll win against Usyk this time except his team ofcourse. And even if Joshua will fortunately win this time, he'll eventually lose against Tyson Fury and will definitely teach him.

I kinda excited to watch Usyk against Fury tho, these two fighters is much more entertaining to watch.

Joshua has lots his face only when he was knockout by snickers boy, but then he got it back, or turned into neutral.
In his fight against Usyk, even though he lost, he did not look lost, confused or pathetic. It was a fight where one fighter was better than other. It wasnt a beating or dominance.

In their first fight, Usyk was a total underdog (odds on Joshua was about 1.4-1.5, on Usyk 3+). In the second fight, Joshua wont be an underdog this time. I think it will be around 1.6+ on Usyk and something above 2 on Joshua.

I think on the contrary though, Joshua might still be the favourite to win his rematch against Usyk? No?

Because he has a history of avenging his defeat just like in the Andy Ruiz fight. So maybe sports bookies are going to put him as a favourite but it's going to be close.

Not sure who or where he is going to train though, or pick up his new coach to prepare him in this rematch.
The circumstances of that fight need to be taken into account, Ruiz won the first fight against Joshua but he got a lucky punch on the third that put Joshua in a bad condition, then Joshua adjusted during the second fight and he avoided getting close to Ruiz, but the most important factor on that fight was that Ruiz showed up way heavier than in the first, after I saw that fact I knew he was going to lose and I am sure I was not the only one, but the circumstances are completely different now and it seems the casinos think the same since Usyk is favored by them to win the rematch.

Once again Ruiz did not connect a lucky punch, Joshua was having difficultly with the speed of Ruiz in the first fight and he was not able to adjust during the fight and in the rematch, Ruiz messed up completely, changed fight camps and he was not in the gym training and these were public information during that period as he was enjoying his new found fame.

Meanwhile Usyk is a different breed and he is not immersed in his few found fame and glory, even if he is having issues, it is not public information and the bookmakers will take all these things into consideration and in a technical fight, there is no way Joshua is going to defeat Usyk.

The problem with betting in advance is that there may arise certain circumstances which might have a significant effect on your choice. I do advance betting sometimes especially if I think that the odds will change as the day of the event comes nearer. But I also avoid it sometimes especially if a certain player is not sure to play or not.

But as to the rematch of Usyk and Joshua, I don't think betting in advance is that risky. I'd rather grab the opportunity of the odds at present. I don't think the pandemic will cause a postponement unless either of the fighters will be infected. My prediction is that as the fight day comes near, Usyk's odds will slightly fall.

We will see real odds only when the training camp would be over and both fighters will show their form in an open training. Before that, that is simple speculation and making predictions based on the results of their first fight aka on the past.

But I find current odds "1,44 for Usyk and 2,72 for Joshua" quite true. I don't believe they would change significantly. Btw, is it already know officially where the rematch will be held? In Kiev? This would change few decimals in odds in Usyks favour for sure Cheesy

Joshua vs Usyk 2: When and where could it happen?
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has said the rematch could take place in March or April in 2022.

Hearn also believes that the fight will be held in the UK again despite Usyk wanting to take it back to his homeland of Ukraine.

Though it's not final yet at least we have an idea of the location of the rematch fight.

I guess it should be in a place or country that will gain more viewers, especially those who will go to the venue so this big fight will make a good revenue, and if Joshua will bounce back and win, well, the big fight will be waiting for him.

Looks like Usyk is the overwhelming favorite as expected.

This will be one of the few fights that Joshua will go into as an underdog. The other two being when he faced Klitschko and the second Andy Ruiz fight. Both times we have seen that he has the grit and game plan to win.

However, I think this loss against Usyk was the most convincing so far. Unlike Ruiz who got a lucky punch that ruined Joshua thenceforward, Usyk straight up dismantled him over 12 rounds and almost had him out in the last few seconds.

Such a brutal beat down isn't easy to come back from, mentally as well as physically. Nonetheless, I like joshua's chances in the rematch, but still have to give the edge to Usyk — since I think he's not just the best of this era, but also arguably one of the greatest of all time (as is Fury).

I think the number of viewers that will go to the venue in a particular country does not matter much. The main gains are from PPV, not from tickets. No doubt, the venue must be big enough to match the size of the fight. The place of venue must be located in the country, which could others boxers visit, because there is always some fights before main event. However, if the locals see their local fighters compete, that will be good to. But the venue is not that much important. The venue will just allow food and beverage services to earn.

No problem if the fight are going to be held in UK though, I guess it make sense as more UK fans are going to be interested to see their hero one last time (if he losses again to Usyk).

And I read that Joshua hasn't finalized yet on the trainer that he is going to select and he is going back to the States again second time to maybe pick the one that will fit his needs.

This fight turned out good with Usyk winning their fight on their first match via unanimous decision that lead him to win three titles which are WBO, WBA, and IBF. However, the two fighters can't move forward with another match because they are bound in their contract to have a rematch which is very okay with the side of Usyk. In fact, his promoter was very much agreed with it because it means more money and exposure. In addition, Usyk was confident enough to beat Joshua once again. He said it's in his favor because he would get to beat Josua the second time around. Their fight is assumed to be held in the early part of 2022, which probably would be around the late dates of March or early dates of April.

Joshua, as stated by his promoter would undergo training and more practice to enhance his playing style against Usyk. He said in an interview that he learned his lesson well and he would take the defeat as a chance to make himself fight and throw punches even better. He even claimed that Usyk's only advantage is being light and fast-paced, which lead him to win their previous match. Joshua mentioned in an interview to beat and get back the titles from Usyk once their rematch has begun. The rematch is going to be held at the same venue which is Ukraine despite Usyk being hopeful he would bring the upcoming big fight on his career to his hometown. Hopefully, we would witness another great battle once again. This fight would determine their next step in their career, whether they could fight with their supposedly next match once they bring home the titles.

I would disagree with both of you Cheesy Joshua lost in the first fight against Ruiz because he was in heaviest form. He has never been so heavy and during the fight he felt discomfort. He was 4.5kg heavier than he was in their fight. Also, if we put aside that punch, which you called lucky, Ruiz was leading on the cards before stoppage. If they continue to fight like this, Ruiz would have won by split decision with 4 points advantage. Their fight showed that Joshua take punches badly. He needs a lot of time to recover.

And I will have to disagree, it was a lucky punch, until the third round Joshua was dominating the fight against Ruiz and he even got Ruiz down, Joshua was trying to give a good impression to the US public because if I remember correctly Wilder had fought the previous week and won as he always did with a spectacular KO, so Joshua went for the KO against Ruiz to get a fast win only to be surprised by a punch behind the ear that left him in a bad condition during the rest of the fight.

Not really arguing against that, I remember looking at him and he looked more like a body builder than a boxer, this means that his stamina was drained too quickly and he was unable to fight properly on the later rounds, which is what we saw during the fight against Ruiz, so I do not disagree with your argument all all, I am just saying that what put Joshua in a bad condition was a lucky punch by Ruiz when Joshua was going for the KO, unfortunately for Joshua he does not have a strong chin which is a terrible flaw for a boxer on the heavyweight division to have.

....unfortunately for Joshua he does not have a strong chin which is a terrible flaw for a boxer on the heavyweight division to have.
Some boxers do have that, therefore they need to adjust by being smart not to get hit, besides, that's the main goal when they are training, hit the opponent and not allow to get hit so you'll win. Joshua does not only have a soft chin, he does not also know how to manage his advantage, he think he could rely on his power to finish the fight, but he was already wrong two times, so it's time for him to reclaim himself.

Somehow I have a feeling, that the result and strategy of both fighters wont change much in their second fight. Joshua will still rely on his power, Usyk will still rely on his speed and huge number of punches (points). They will either go to score cards or Joshua would connect one good punch, and then finish dazed opponent. I just dont see what Joshua could dramatically change to turn the fight 180 degrees. 22/24 of his fights ended with KO in first half of the fight. I dont believe that his will change his tactics and tries to win by points and land more punches or do long combinations.

Agree with you, it would not be the same with his fight with Ruiz as USYK clearly dominated him in that fight. It was a unanimous decision win by him as he clearly outboxed Joshua in that fight, so there's no way Joshua could beat Ruiz unless he will completely change his style which is unlikely to happen.

Usyk is willing to take it even in a trilogy as he is very confident he will win, not only that, this is also a big fight which means big money.

If Usyk wins then there is not going to be any need for a trilogy as we will know who is the best out of the two, if anything while I love the idea of a second fight coming I do not need it to know which one is the best boxer out of the two either, Usyk is far ahead of Joshua, and if anything I think Usyk will be even better in the second fight as he will have more time to train and improve his speed and power in the division, and once he beats Joshua again there is not going to be anyone between Usyk and Fury to see who will become the undisputed champion.

Maybe entering the picture and telling Joshua he can train him for the Usyk rematch,

Quote
“I told him from the beginning, I told him to come and I could teach him some pointers. A lot of the time, this is just my take, the same coach you had as an amateur doesn’t always make you a great professional," Mayweather said.

https://www.boxingscene.com/mayweather-open-helping-joshua-prepare-usyk-rematch--162535

Not sure though if this is a good idea, I think Joshua should really get someone that can really train him with a lot of experience. There has been no reports yet who is going to replace his old trainer Rob McCracken.

But I do agree that Joshua strategy will be different in the rematch, he can't just stand there and chase Usyk.

What i like about Floyd Mayweather is that, he is willing to train fighters, he was open to train Deontay Wilder for his rematch against Tyson Fury but Deontay Wilder turned down the offer and started talking against Floyd Mayweather and now he is willing to train Joshua, i hope he will be open to that offer as i consider Floyd Mayweather to be the best defensive boxer ever and he could improve their skills.

But I do agree that Joshua strategy will be different in the rematch, he can't just stand there and chase Usyk.
Lets see what strategy is going to prepare for the rematch, i am still rooting for Usyk to win as he is a much better fighter/

The only way Joshua will win the fight is if Usyk is having a bad at the office otherwise it will be another loss for Joshua. There is no denying Joshua has the power and the physique to win the fight but there is also no denying that Joshua does not have the skills to regularly beat top fighters. If Usyk does step up and fight even better in the rematch then Joshua will probably be pushed in to retirement.
