Im not hyping Usyk, but there seems to be not such a big difference for him to box in cruiserweight and heavy. Cruiser is below 91kg. According to wiki Usyk is 98kg that means he always cut in his past. He is 1.91m. The guy that tall simply can not be light  So in general he was always sort of a heavyweight. Last fight Joshuas weight was 240 pounds or about 108kg. If Usyk gains a bit (and he will), there will be not such a big difference between them. But due to pumped muscles, Joshua looks bigger if we put them together

I was checking the social media pages of Oleksandr Usyk and it looks like he is trying to increase his weight for the fight and in my opinion it will not end up great, he should not increase more weight than he usually fights and this is boxing and if ground fighting was involved then gaining weight would have made sense, i wont be surprise if Oleksandr Usyk gets tired easily if he is fighting above his normal fighting weight.

You gave a very detailed analysis and observation. On a technical basis Usyk might have a superior boxing style than that of Joshua but Joshua is physically more imposing and in better shape.

With the poll in this thread standing at 65% Joshua and 35% Usyk, it is a lot better than I thought because 19 votes are for Joshua and 9 for Usyk. It shows voters think Usyk is not going to be a pushover. I think he will cause problems for Joshua because he is a southpaw and he is dangerous. Usyk will go in to the fight with a view to getting a massive pay opportunity at least twice if he wins because of the re-match clause. Usyk will probably try to catch Joshua on the chin to floor him like Ruiz did and if that happens then Usyk will probably win.

On paper this is an almost definite win for Joshua but in the ring anything can happen. I have no doubt Joshua will go in to the ring with the mentality he showed against Ruiz in the re-match. He will feel he does not have to win by knockout therefore he will try to box his way to a points decision unless Usyk runs out of steam. I think Joshua will not underestimate Usyk but fighting a dangerous southpaw will not be easy but having said that most people and gambling sites would make Joshua favourite to win.

Also, Usyk while definitely having a chance here in this fight, has the better odds if your looking for value of money. I've got Usyk at 2.75 while Joshua was something like 1.40, which in my opinion is far to wide considering the opposition, and record of Usyk.

I might go for Usyk by decision. There will likely be a few Joshua knockdowns, but I believe Usyk will be able to out point him with what I consider his superior boxing, and might just be able to get some knockdowns himself.

Joshua is a great fighter ... but I'm afraid Usyk will ruin his career. in 2015 I watched Usyk's title defense live, and then he was no less a dangerous fighter than he is now. The only option in which Joshua can win is based on training the spirit .. no matter how strange it sounds, but probably his best solution would be to train and meditate in some kind of Tibetan monastery.

At least he's interested in fighting and claims he could box Dillian Whyte by the end of the year. Hopefully that happens as I'd like to see him more active. I'm hoping Ngannou gets a fight in MMA soon and ends up in boxing because I'd like to see him against people like Fury, AJ and Wilder etc. Not much left for him in the UFC I don't think unless Jones is willing to fight him but he's not going to get the money he's asking for.

I don't think it will be an easy fight for AJ but I think he'll get the win here. Hoping he does at least so there's no set backs for the Fury fight.

Thanks for bumping this thread, I had completely forgotten about this fight, Joshua is the favorite here and I would like for him to win so we can finally see Joshua and Fury going at each other, but Usyk is no going to be an easy opponent as he is the first undisputed cruiserweight champion and he is undefeated, so this has without a doubt the makings of a great fight, I just hope the fight itself lives up to the hype.

If we imagine that Usyk wins, will his next opponent be Fury? Fury is to big for him. Or Wilder - he is also to big for him. In 2018, in the finals of "World Boxing Super Series: cruiserweight" Usyk faced Murat Gassiev (an example of one-punch-boxer. Like Wilder, who wins most fights with one heavy punch) and totally outclassed him. If Usyk wins and faces Fury, he would lose, but if he faces Wilder, he still has chances. I will cheer for him on September 25, but don't really believe he can win

This is a very underrated fight I seldom see it in my social media feed I'm subscribed on many sports pages, people are more excited about the Wilder - Fury fight than this fight both Usyk and Joshua are not trash talkers too, there's little hype on this fight it will become a piece of big news only if Usyk beat Joshua the heavyweight boxing world will have a major shakeup if that happens.

This fight will be the most exciting one in the heavyweight division of boxing since many months and i have a really hard time to pick a favorite here. Anthony Joshua is a really great athlete that looks like a greek god and he can knockout everyone with his left hook but he kind of lost his nimbus of invincibility in his fight against Andy Ruiz and he already was close to being defeated in the fight against Wladimir Klitschko before. Therefore i think that this will be a very dangerous fight for Joshua and that Usyk has a good chance to defeat him. Even i would like to see Tyson Fury become more active, if not for the corona infection we would have seen the trilogy fight earlier and i am not sure what improvements Wilder  made this time but i have a feeling that since Tyson Fury is coming back from the infection he might not be that crisp like the second fight and Wilder can always catch anyone if the opponent is a bit slow.

Francis Ngannou after becoming the champion there is a fallout between Dana White and even if he wants to box i do not think Dana White will allow him to do another sport unless he retires or finish off their contract with the UFC.

I would not attach much importance to that defeat by Ruiz. This happens in heavy weight regularly and with almost every boxer - you can win the whole fight, but one luckypunch and you can't get out of the knockout. Usyk is not a prominent puncher, so Joshua was lucky here, but of course this does not mean that the fight will be easy for him, after all Usyk is still not defeated and he will fight to the end.

Though Joshua is clear favourite to win the fight, the voters in the poll here think it will not be a walkover. I think Usyk will fight as though his life depends on it and will try his best to KO rather than try for a points win. IF he manages to pull off a shock victory he will fight the winner of Fury vs Wilder III for the richest fight in heavyweight boxing history so that is his motivation but I think Usyk will fall short and Joshua will win but it will not be an easy win and good warm up for Joshua for his next fight.

In the other fight, I think Fury will definitely beat Wilder again...

The boxing world was deprived of probably the greatest match of the decade and the British people badly wants this fight to push through, this has the making of the greatest match in the history of British boxing, they both have the legit champions of the heavyweight divisions if not only for that court order.
I don't want to think the unthinkable but what if both Fury and Wilder lose the fight, there will be a disruption in the heavyweight division, I hope both Fury and Joshua put up their best so they can push the unification of the heavyweight division.

Maybe because it was the first time that we have seen Joshua in trouble and he really don't know how to react and maybe he was really hurt as we can see his face was full of blood, specially blood coming from his nose that makes anyone breath hard during a fight. In any case, if Usyk can apply the same pressure, he might have a punchers chance and derail any plans for the biggest fight in heavyweight, either  Fury or Wilder.

I can not disagree your post. Both of them are Olympic champions. Both have great amateur and pro careers. Their only difference is weight class and reach. That is it. There is no big difference between them, none of them is an underdog. The one who will be more prepared on September 25 will win. That is it.

It would have been a good move for the sport of boxing and for fans around the world to have seen a unification fight between Fury and Joshua but that did not happen, it will happen one day but the painful part is both boxers are almost past their peak as far as physicality is concerned so when it finally happens it might not be a good spectacle.
