They took the first map but the odds for G2 hasn't moved much because this is a best of 5 finals.
They are looking like a team possessed at this point.
I can see a solid win for a great team they put together over a course of a year with all the pieces falling in their favor.

Navi weaker then I thought unfortunately, they really wont be happy at that outcome.     It wasnt a high confidence bet for me, in retrospect Heroic at 1.7x wasnt bad odds to take.

Right now G2 vs Heroic I've placed reasonable odds at 1.7 or higher that either team can win.  G2 is stronger on Ancient so could easily take this, Heroic is stronger on Vertigo.

G2 rocked Heroic in Katowice 2023 to take the crown!
JKS is the only player to win IEM in Katowice back to back. Last season with Faze clan and now with G2.
What an achievement for him since he is usually in the backround when it comes to Niko, Monesy and even Hunter but he proved he is up to running with those names in the last map ancient.
Hunter did take the MVP of the tournament this year.
https://www.hltv.org/news/35596/hunter-claims-iem-katowice-mvp-award

I was surprised to find out they only dropped one map all tournament and that was in this grand finals versus Heroic.
You can read about it all here:

G2 are simply on another level when it comes to CS:GO. They really play modern CS:GO and I don't know if all of us saw the finals , but Niko had a play when they were on ECO on Inferno and he simply went in all the smokes , found a gap , waited there for smoke to be gone and made almost 3 kill that won the round for them and M0nesy has godlike fingers because when he wants to dominate , he won't be touch.

For Heroic is still a great result as they were on 2 finals in the last 2 majors. One against Outsiders when their lost and now against G2 when they stood no chance to be honest.

What rdbase is more than true because even if they dropped Inferno yesterday in the grand finals , that was the map where Heroic dominated the entire tournament even if G2 didn't lose on it before. Now we can say for sure that G2 spent the best 600k$ on M0nesy and it seems it was the best transfer in modern CS:GO.

Signing him was truly one of the best deal that G2 has ever made. And with his age, there's still a lot way to go for the team. We all know that in esports including CSGO, that these young talents have got better eye and hand coordination until they get old. Well, he's such truly a child prodigy.

Sure it is, it is like 21 straight rounds before they lost to Heroic in inferno. That is a big achievement. They took Katowice in a breeze. They did not even break a sweat. They proved that they deserved to be the top team in CS GO right now. Congrats to them.

A perfect move if you ask me. At first I was doubting him but he proved to be really strong with the right mentoring. With Niko and Hunter on his side, he will go very far. Can't wait to see him play his next tournament.

Gabbi debuts for Fnatic today for Dota 2 and this might be his last dance as a pro to prove he is one of the best carry player out there but still...I have doubts for him because I remember him from Nigma days and he was doing a great job farming but not fighting as a team so I'm curious if this will change as they take Boom in about 10 minutes. Boom are really in their worst shape in the last 2 years and they need a win today no matter what and I'm expecting cheesy drafts.

For bets , I will go with Boom 1st map and Fnatic 2nd but not until I see final drafts. Grin

Yeah, no debate that they deserve what they've got and it's another piece of history that they've made. I think after transitioning to CSGO, it was one of the greatest rounds that I've seen for a team having almost no lose at all but 1.

Signing him was truly one of the best deal that G2 has ever made. And with his age, there's still a lot way to go for the team. We all know that in esports including CSGO, that these young talents have got better eye and hand coordination until they get old. Well, he's such truly a child prodigy.

He will without a doubt going far with this career whether he stays with G2 or not, there will be other teams that will surely want to scout him and take him in their teams. This is the common approach in esports, the younger the talent is, the better coordination and fast reaction with mind and body as it gets which is vital in esports like CSGO.

BTS SEA finals are going on and even if I missed first games where Talon won , I will go with Fnatic to win 3rd map as I'm sure this ORG has at least 1 more victory in store for them in DOta 2 scene before they fully disband.

I've also trow my last LTC balance into this game and if they win 3rd map , I will go with Fnatic on 4th map as well.

Good luck on this. Fnatic is completely dominated by Talon on all the games including the current 3rd map which you made bet. Fnatic is completely out-drafted on all of their games. Armel can’t do anything since he was always being outplayed by Mikoto on the Mid. There’s a low chance for Fnatic to have a come with their current heroes since Talon has a hard carry heroes with almost complete item.

Btw 27-5 is the current score with 22k gold advantage for Talon.

Fnatic ended their journey and made their last match against Talon with a straight 3 times loss. They've come into 2nd place and Talon wins the BTS pro season 14 (Sea).

Although you've lost this bet. I saw how they've progressed in the lower bracket and beating every opponent with a 2-0 until they made 0-3 against Talon.

What's sadder is that, Fnatic is already out of dota 2 and that's the last run that they've made. For so long, they've been one of the known team in dota 2.

Have anybody who follows DOTA2 heard about this occurring in professional match-play before?

If it's possible for this kind of competition for fraud to occur, how much more to much smaller competitions. There are local and regional competitions everywhere. Some games must be rigged. Some detected, some not.

Here, there was also a national basketball competition where a team was obviously throwing the game. It was Manny Pacquiao himself who filed the case against those who were involved in the fixing.

I also have a neighbor who was a pro DOTA II player. He and his team were involved in match fixing. They were banned by Valve itself.

Fraud is also rampant in sports.
I'm kind of intrigued. Who is this neighbors of yours that is a pro DOTA 2 player?
Solo was also accused of match fixing as he placed a bet against his own team, Virtus Pro. Remember the 322 meme? It was originally pertaining to his act.

I won't drop any name, but suffice it to say that he's a player of Team Smart Omega or popularly known as Omega ESports. They were playing against Execration in the SEA DOTA Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021-2022. It was suspected that Omega ESports was throwing the game. Later on, after investigation, it was confirmed that they were involved in a match-fixing agreement. It was pretty obvious in the game. They were eventually banned from all Valve-sponsored events.

This is off-topic already, but the point is fraud in sports happen not just in the local, regional, and national levels; it happens even in the international level.
from the thread: Sports betting fraud in Brazil - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5440005.0

Only noticed it while reading it from the thread above on how some professional sports leagues had been found match-fixing and it came to light in recent matches being played aswell in the eSports arena.

Yup, it happened before and afaik the last match-fixing that happened was between Newbee who used to be one of the top teams in China. The unfortunate part is that some of the players that got caught up in the match-fixing case were also banned. With how low the pay can be in certain regions we could definitely see players still doing it but catching these guys will be hard as it's rare to find any good evidence unless they admit it on their own.

Anyway, match fixing is the lesser issue right now in the competitive scene and hacking is becoming one of the rising issues in Dota as most of the hacking programs(maphack, illusion hack, etc) can be used without getting caught and some of the pro players in the lower division are getting away with it.

Sounds like that is a common occurrence in the DOTA2 professional organization and tournaments from what I have read about it on that thread and the news links that were provided from the many sources on there thus far.

So maybe it is better to stick to betting on League of Legends then, right? They don't seem to have an issue with such hacks and cheats in their professional played tournaments.

Talking about LoL, I have my eye on betting on the LCK tournament tomorrow with TI and Damwon being the favorites in their two matches:

Valve should do something about it. If other games can implement good anti-cheat, valve should also be able to implement one.

Without a good anti-cheat engine, it will be hard to stop it since it is hard to really get evidence when games are played online. Good thing, major tournaments are played on LAN so there is no chance that teams can cheat.

I am not really a fan of LOL so I cannot make bet on them since I am not familiar with the teams.

Game fixing is bad, but it is in every sport, I think. All the organizers can do is set a deterrent by placing penalties and bans on proven game fixers. But if a team really is determined to game-fix,  they will do it. All the organizer can do is not let them play in tournaments in the future but the damage is already done.

For me, i'll still bet on Dota as long as it's not the lower division and non DPC tournaments since I doubt most of the teams at the division 1 would have the courage to use cheating programs. If you're having doubts about the dota scene then it might be a good idea to bet on LoL and the LCK is a good region to start since they're the most predictable region.

I agree, it's also going to kill their game knowing pros can possibly get away with it.

Did bet on those two matches for LCK over the weekend and T1 finally won their match after map 2 took 45 minutes to complete but the final map didn't take them long at all with a nice play at the end to take them out easily.
For the next match, I mentioned which was on my betslip Damwon got beat 0:2 and they were the highly toted favorites to win at 1.29x odds.
So it goes for any other sport: Huge favorites with only going by the odds alone do not mean a guaranteed win.
Even on paper their opponents didn't look like they were going to win, let alone ace them.
They announcers/casters of this match even said that very same statement right before the match began.

Just over a day left before the Lima Major starts but there are still no odds for the matches on my favorite bookies.

The first day is filled with good matches. It is a pity they will play simultaneously so it will be hard to watch all the games. I will just follow the favorites and watch good DOTA. I will follow Tundra, Team Liquid, PSG.LGD and Aster. I believe one of these teams will win the Lima Major.

Here is the schedule for the group stage

Then again LSB is already a good team as they're successful in pressuring stronger teams like GenG and T1 to three maps so i'm surprised Damwon was still that high. I guess you fell for the trap as it happens every now and then, bookies would continue to favor certain teams that used to be successful. It kind of reminds me of when T1 used to have that one shaky season (around 2019-2020) and they kept on switching players every series but the bookies would barely adjust the odds regardless of their losses.

Very hard to bet on Dota Division 2 just because of all massive comeback that are happening during the games.

Meanwhile , Lima major group stage games are beginning today and I'm hyped as a new patch just dropped a few minutes ago for Dota 2. Grin
