I'm extremely suspicious of these Olympic Games becoming profitable, it is widely known that Olympic Games costs more money and many instances way more money than the profits that will be produced by the games, so I find hard to believe that with no tourists in the middle of a pandemic these games actually became profitable, I simply do not buy it, which is why they need to find a way to make the games more cheaply as this cannot continue for long.

I also don't believe that Japan made a financial profit with this olympic games so far. As you already said the main source of income during the olympic games are usually the tourists because a lot of them do not only visit the stadiums to see the Olympic games but they combine this with a longer stay in the hosting country. I am pretty sure though that the IOC already made a lot of profit with the games in Japan, which is a shame because the IOC should first and foremost care about the sports and not about money. It is still possible and also not that unlikely that the olympic games are big win for Japan in the longterm because of all those investments that were made in the infrastructure of the country prior to the games.

Without a doubt these were probably one of the most difficult games not only to organize but also to attend and to prepare for, and yet it all went without a problem, lets hope that during the next games all this nightmare is finally over and we can watch some average Olympic Games in which the only thing we need to care about are the games themselves and not whether or not the games will happen at all because the world is going through an event that had not happened during the last 100 years.

It is sad that Japan received no appreciation for hosting the Games under such adverse conditions. The government went ahead with the Olympics, despite a large part of the population remaining opposed to it. And there was no complains from the athletes and other members of the contingent belonging to the participant nations. The Japanese authorities too care of each and every issue. But unfortunately, the country received zero benefit from hosting the Games. The spectators were not allowed, and that meant that there was no boost for the tourism sector as well.
What happens is that right now we lack historic perspective to appreciate what it happened, the games finished recently and it is simply too soon to appreciate what happened, I really think that once enough time passes people are going to appreciate that the games happened despite all the adverse circumstances in place, which is by the way one of the original reasons for the games to happen, as in ancient Greece the game happened even during times of war and other difficult circumstances, so it is nice to see that despite the pandemic the games could be held.

Agreed. I believe that if the games was being scheduled in any country other than Japan, then it would have become impossible to conduct it. Japanese people are very disciplined and they obeyed the social distancing protocols although the delta variant was causing a lot of damage in that country. The government was also adamant that there should be no postponement. The global sporting community needs to appreciate the efforts made by the Japanese government, as well as by the public.

Though its old news, but when I think of Olympics and contribution from athletics, I remember Chopra this year. I saw his throws on youtube channel yesterday. Yes, He saved himself on his 2nd throw setting world record. But if you have noticed the following throws, yes, did not even meet 85 meters which was really bit disappointing from Chopra. However, the 2nd throw finalized him for gold medal. A good play.

I have huge respect for the athletes who take part in Paralympics. But unfortunately these games doesn't have the same level of excitement as Olympics. Unlike Olympics, the United States is not the favorite to top medals table in Paralympics. Back in 2016, it was China which topped the medals table, with Great Britain and Ukraine taking the second and third places respectively. Unfortunately in 2016, there was a tragic accident which resulted in the death of one athlete (Bahman Golbarnejhad). Let's hope that no such incident occurs this time.

We love the 100 meters specially in women, in the Olympics it was swept by the Jamaican ladies.

And weeks after the Olympics,  Elaine Thompson-Herah proved herself that her win in the Olympics is not a fluke as she won in the Nike Diamond League again with the same time of 10.54.

And also the same result in the 2nd and 3rd position, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson of Jamaica as well.

Jamaicans are no.1 as far as short distance running is concerned (for both the genders). And that's why it came as a huge surprise when an Italian won the gold medal (in men's race). Ironically none of the Jamaican athletes qualified for the final. I was hoping for a good performance from Yohan Blake, but he finished at #6 in the semi-finals. Anyway, Jamaican athletes completely dominated the women's race, by bagging all three medals. Elaine Thompson-Herah   won the Olympic gold medal with 10.61 seconds, and then Diamond League with 10.54s.

The era of Usain Bolt seems over so young athletes are replacing his golden spot but surely Jamaican are better when it comes to sprinting as youbsaid so hopefully next time they will come hard and grab the medal for sure.

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games starts today.
https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/en/paralympics/

Do you usually watch?
Are there athletes from your countries participating?
If so, how is their performance usually?

I have huge respect for the athletes who take part in Paralympics. But unfortunately these games doesn't have the same level of excitement as Olympics. Unlike Olympics, the United States is not the favorite to top medals table in Paralympics. Back in 2016, it was China which topped the medals table, with Great Britain and Ukraine taking the second and third places respectively. Unfortunately in 2016, there was a tragic accident which resulted in the death of one athlete (Bahman Golbarnejhad). Let's hope that no such incident occurs this time.

US athletes have competed at every Summer Paralympic Games since 1960. With more than 2,180 medals won, the United States has traditionally been the most successful country (source:wikipedia). However, China has surpassed them and have been the top-ranking nation for the last four Summer Paralympic Games, since 2004.

The sole achievement of the Paralympic Games would be to spread the brotherhood worldwide, and to get inspiration from those most beautiful souls. There is a need for greater appreciation and recognition of Paralympics. Paralympic swimmer Anastasia Tas Pagonis from the USA has become a role model and is ready to showcase her skills in Tokyo 2020! She is truly inspiring and amazing! Would like to hear more mind-blowing Paralympic stories.

Totally agree with this one, inclusion of every person whether they're disable or not is the best thing to do, always remember that's one step towards a better society. Plus, it's much more impressive to see athletes that have some innate difficulties do the sports that they play compared to a normal player.

It's really amazing the stories we can find about athletes and what they had to overcome to get to the Olympic Games.
This article presents some stories: https://www.bbc.com/sport/disability-sport/49647992

And even the attitude of athletes in competitions. Like when in one of the previous Paralympic games, an athlete falls and another athlete comes back to help.

Thank you for the article, I will read it after I finish this post. I won't get that far in terms of amazing stories, I would go for our gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz that was being antagonized by every retarded Filipino because she was at that time asking for support and she instead get criticism and has been accused of drug related stuff which was proven to be retarded all along together with the intelligence gathering done and now she is making everyone proud, even the bandwagon retards. Paralympics definitely has much more awe inspiring stories though.

Definitely. It is quite a big thing in my country (UK), but I understand that in certain other countries it is not yet a real mainstream event. The USA probably needs to step up a bit from last time, as you'd expect them to be vying with China for top spot.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Summer_Paralympics_medal_table

TV coverage here will be the biggest ever, which is great news and will lead to more exposure for the athletes, and more people cheering them on.

Quote
Channel 4 will host over 300 hours of round the clock Paralympics coverage from Tokyo, Leeds and London
Ground-breaking commitment that over 70% of Channel 4 presenting team are disabled
More 4 will be dedicated team sports channel
Paralympics Microsite will feature 16 live streams and over 1,000 hours – a first from a UK broadcaster

I'd give the Paralympic athletes all the juice they want, wouldn't test shit. They have to endure much more than regular athletes, both physically and mentally, and to think the ''regular'' Olympics is full of doped-up athletes, I'd flat out just give them anything they want and let them put to shame the rest of the ''normal'' athletes.

And they already embarrass other athletes! In addition to the difficulties that it has to overcome, many paralympic teams perform better than the olympic teams.
