Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

So what algo?

All the pre register pools look to be setting up for scrypt but title says x11...

Please not scrypt, I don't want to go back to scrypt, Ya can't make me, I won't do it... If I hafta  Sad

Considering the defects of Scrypt.
Finally decided to use the X11.

Cool!

I like X11, bit of controversy over X11 though. Some have a set against it. Hope this doesn't have a negative effect the coins popularity.

Other good algo's for the GPU miners are Groestl and HEAFTY1. Prolly to late to switch now though.

Darkcoin has been pretty popular, I don't think it will be an issue.

This coin will crush BC and Mint if done right. The potential is there let's see what the team can do after launch.

Any progress on the logo?  I hope something's in the works - launch is just around the corner now.  Maybe something blue-green to match the website/OP, or perhaps blue and gray to match the wallet?

What is unique about this coin? Just seems like an inferior BC with a few modifications....

Well based on that analogy it's a superior BC.

Edgecoin features an AIO wallet, several launch features, fair distribution, and most importantly (for many) it's one of the first solid x11 coins.

What does x11 matter when a coin is going to be PoS pretty quickly anyway? Or is that not the case here.

We've been sticking with this for now

At the moment we're really buckling down to be able to get an open beta out before launch.

No ASICS, more energy efficient, and won't tax the GPUs.

This is beneficial regardless of the length of the mining period

Can you lower the POS yearly inflation and create a profit switching multipool after POW mining.

For sure Smiley

We'll be doing our best. Hopefully the open beta will really help solidify this coin.

I think Bitcoin will start a three month rise in value in May that will last throughout the summer. Great time to launch a new coin! Smiley

More explained in this article: http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/bitcoin-price-2014/2013/12/30

Open beta coming soon, with that in place we'll be in a very good position to have a successful launch.

Don't worry it's x11. The pre-reg pools will fix up when they need to.
