Like most people in the league, I took a -5% hit as well. I have now taken around 5+ hits like this. It's getting harder to predict and it's only going to get harder as the UCL goes into closing stages.

My own small win this week this week was that I moved up one place in Pot A and currently sit at 11th. I'd really love to break top 10 and finish close to top 5 even if it's the only achievement I can make in this year's 24/25 pool.

Real Madrid will likely never get knocked out by Arsenal

Well, by the time this game will be played, Arsenal will have some of their injured players back.
Currently Real would be favorites, but in April it will be a lot closer.

Real isn't playing good, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if Arsenal manages to knock them out.

PSG and Barcelona will be heavy favorites, the other two games are 50-50.

Speaking of football rules, I have noticed now for an instance or two where the keeper isn't penalised for picking up a backpass -- albeit usually after being passed for a while, and with no real risk and no super obvious intent to pick up a hurried defensive move. Technically I always thought a kicked backpass just can't be handled at any point the ball doesn't leave the keeper, but I think even opposition players don't always contest this law. IIRC Saints did muster a protest when Alisson did that (did control and play around with kicked backpass, but eventually picked it up).

If we talk about the rules in general that need to be corrected, then this is fucking offside.
Specific case: if a player passes to another player who is offside, but the defender who is trying to intercept the pass makes the slightest touch, then this is considered a pass from the defender = no offside.

As we know, even VAR needs time to see if it was offside or not, but how can a defender make a split-second decision to try to intercept the ball or not?
When I see these stupid goals that (if we use the logic of a normal person) were scored from an offside position, my blood boils.

But isn't there direct logic to this? If the goalkeeper committed a violation, but this violation did not prevent the player from scoring a goal, then it can be ignored. If the player was unable to score a goal, then it is logical to check whether there was a violation on the part of the goalkeeper that could have prevented the player from scoring a goal.

Yes, considering that a penalty initially implies a huge advantage for the player, this is unfair.
You can watch how Lewandowski takes a penalty - it is an absolute mockery of logic and rules (the player should not make reverse movements and other nuances) which he formally observes, but it looks disgusting. But if the rules for penalty execution are made even more strictly prescribed, then there will be many more cases like the one with Alvarez.

By the way, at the moment this Champions League looks quite balanced - several teams are at the same level, there is no clear favorite. All teams had problems during the season. Isn't that going to be an entertaining final than what we have been getting of late that one team gets to destroy the other and it takes the whole excitement out of the champions league finals. We need teams that'll go head to head and not like we're watching a friendly game.

For me though I consider all teams that qualify to the finals as worthy clubs because irrespective of how we think they're being rigged, the clubs still have to put on a convincing performance for them to advance upto the level of getting to the finals.

Maybe they get favours in some calls by the referee but they aren't the one giving them the goals that they're scoring to win games. Their opponents aren't playing well and that's why they're not defeating the supposedly favoured club because irrespective of a team getting favours, if the other side plays better and scores more, they'll win the game.

Quarter Finals 1st legs are now less than a week away. I’m disappointed Liverpool are out but I can’t be disappointed with our season as we will become PL Champions soon.

PSG are a great team too, I wouldn’t mind seeing them go on to win it. Real Madrid lost to Valencia today which is a big set back in their hopes to win La Liga. I expect them to beat Arsenal over two legs but the 1st leg at The Emirates could be tough for them.

I’m looking forward to the games though, I predict Real, PSG, Barcelona and Bayern to advance to the semi finals.

Gentlemen, the time has come to resume our rivalries in the Champions League pool. Personally, like LFC_Bitcoin, I'll be watching this with some disappointment that the league phase winners no longer feature, but I doubt I will suffer from a lack of entertainment. I would love a PSG-Barca final -- these to me are the two best teams in the competition.
