UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season

Even though Roma have made sure to qualify but I still have doubts about their performance. Competition in the Europa League this season is very tough considering that the teams that fall in the Champions League are among the strongest teams compared to Jose Mourinho's squad. Qualifying as runner-up group forced Roma to go through the play-offs, if their game is not able to show rapid improvement then I believe Roma's steps will be increasingly difficult and will quickly stop.

Their performance in Serie A wasn't too bad, but for some reason, they looked different when they played in the Europa League. AS Roma has a less promising performance in the Europa League, and even to get the 2nd position in Group C, AS Roma had to struggle until the 6th match in the Group Stage. So, if they don't have an improvement soon, I think their chances of winning the knockout round playoffs are not great, especially if they have to play against big teams like Juventus, Sevilla, Barcelona, Leverkusen, and Ajax.

Roma proved their quality over Ludogorets Razgrad. I didn't watch their game because I watched Manchester United who managed to get a dramatic win, but AS Roma vs Ludogorets Razgrad stats are very interesting.
AS Roma managed to make 9 shots off target and 9 on target. Ball Possession (%) is not much difference as seen in the picture.

Both clubs play well in the match and Roma only made difference in the second half after Mourinho sent Zaniolo in. He created two penalties which were converted to goals by Pellegrini. He also scored a late goal to finalize the match at 3 - 1 for Roma. Decisions of Mourinho to use Zaniolo and Volpato in the second half help Roma to attack more energetically and have more speedy attack.

After a while, they were successful to break defense of Ludogorets. That is a perfect match for Zaniolo but we should recognize strong mentality of Pellegrini in two penalties. He did not make any mistake from given chances by Zaniolo.

Mourinho again continue to show that his time is not over. Will Mourinho win Europa League with Roma? It reminds me his success with Porto by winning Europa League and Champions League in two seasons in early of his coach career.

De Gea double save was great, once again he was proving that he is a top notch goalkeeper, unfortunately De Gea efforts weren't enough to get Manchester United into first place and after all, they could score 2 goals if Ronaldo was a little more accurate in his exit one on one and threw only the goalkeeper, and and hit the gate.

With Varane out with injury I think this is the team that will play Aston Villa except Bruno who is out due ban after gotten his fifth consecutive yellow card against West Ham since Ten Hag prefers Lindelof over Maguire. Although the approach will change since Aston Villa are different team compare to Real Sociedad. Aston Villa loves to sit back a little so it will be a hard game for united but they will win.

The win wasn't what United want since it couldn't grant them the direct qualification to the round of 16 now they have to do that through playoffs which means congestion of fixtures for them
