But I think it is far beyond the scope of it to do a KYC/AML (anti merit laundering) on every user I merit.

True. It's not possible to check everyone before you merit. But it would be great if you could check members from our local thread. I understand it will be difficult for you. But it's up to you. No problem if you can't because it's not your problem. 

I guess, in case of merit abuse, there are other instruments (flags, trust) to address your rightful concern.
Even a merit abuser or a spammer can write good posts, after all.

Unfortunately, the flag and trust system is used to handle trading-related issues. I am unsure if tagging them for merit abuse would be a good idea. But as you can see, I am not even close to DT. So, my feedback won't be visible by default. The problem is they barely care what I am saying because I am just an average Joe.

first of all I want to make sure that I read ur rules and saw that the limit of received merits to participate here is @ 1000 merits.
My thought is to help you distribute the merits evenly across the board. You also cant see every good post and give it merit.

@LoyceV has also already complained that he has a pile of sMerits and would like to distribute them among good posts!
Since I'm unfortunately not a merit-source and am almost always out of merit, I would also like to submit a few contributions like I did to Loyce. I would limit myself to really helpful posts, because I don't want to receive them simply as a "gift".
The posts would most likely violate another rule: most have already received more than two merits.

Before I mark the posts here, I would like to know what you think of this idea?

Good idea and if you want to help even more, you could probably do good by helping @fillippone do the reviews for the post or something like that in this thread, you know like quality checker to help with the increase of people submitting posts for merits. I don't mean you will choose who gets the merits but like you recommend what @fillippone will or have to check out first.

If it is desired, I can also help there and use my generated sMerits if @fillippone doesn't have the time. My goal is simply to distribute the sMerits sensibly and as widely as possible, be it on technical boards or in the German local area, where we are definitely missing a merit-source.

First of, I'd like to appreciate your efforts  @fillippone towards making sure that merit is given to whom is due, and for coming up with the innovative idea of this creating this thread, I think it's very thoughtful and would help you in accessing as much quality contents as possible without going all around the forum to look for them, with the help of the thread, the contents comes to you and all you need to do is access if it's merit worthy or not, and also knowing that you also have the interest of the Newbies at heart is also worth appraisal. Once again we appreciate your effort. This happens to be my first round on this thread.

First of all, thank you for the idea.
You are right when you tell me that such reporting would violate at least a couple of rules of this thread.

These rules are here for a reason.

• This thread was born for users struggling to get merits for their work. So I tried to find some criteria to such users to be selected. Those criteria might be far from perfect, and I might as well be open to modifying those, but in the end, are my criteria, so you are asked to adhere to them in this thread.
  
• The First criterion is self-promotion. Proof of work: if a user want their post merited is free to post it here, following rules of the thread (formatting included).
• Users with unmerited posts, or under merited. When a post has already been merited by two users this means it has reviewed by a good number of eyes and I don’t feel it is necessary to be reviewed again.
  
• Users with more than a thousand merits are potential legendary users, so I again find difficult to justify a submission on this thread.
• Other thread, with different rules do exist, so I guess these post can be submitted there.
  
• Merit source still exists with even different meriting habits, so maybe there is a chance they will end up noticing their post

So for the moment, no change in rules.

He has taken this initiative to help members who are trying to contribute something useful or making dedicated efforts in discussions on forums but you registered on forum 3 years back and all posts are from few months back only and talking about being active? He is helping those members whether newbies or high rank whose posts he finds good after review or according to his criteria as he mentioned above so try to learn more with time.The merits should not be priority but exchange of knowledge then you will see newbies motivation more but yes @fillipponne is doing great job helping members in each round.
