These are two gambling stories that are very interesting

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

Story 2
An apprentice who won 16 million naira on BET was asked by his boss to split the money into two parts. This 50 - 50. As the story goes, people sided with his boss, and he had no choice but to comply. It's important to remember that the money used to bet belongs to the apprentice, not the boss.

*Read the different opinions of people here

First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? Second, assuming you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?

Honestly the girlfriend wouldn't have had an idea if he had won if he hadn't told her right? Or supposing he had lost, it would have been the 10k she'd have been demanding for right?
I don't think he needs to be cajoled to giving whatever that suits him, after all it's his choice and his money.

And as to the case of the apprentice, as long as it wasn't your money I used to play the game, I don't see why I need to split the money with you.

Even myself as a boyfriend or the man itself would really be changing up my views into my girlfriend where you could really have those thoughts that shes really that too greedy on asking that much.
Yes, its her money had been used but she dont have the rights on asking on her part since no one knows if he would be lucky enough into that time on making bets.
Stealing 10k is a huge thing which i do understand on girls side but asking that huge partition or part is never been a good sight.
You are just proving that you are greedy and doesnt mind off about in between relationship.

Stealing money is worst IMO, than the girl asking for 50% compensation.  It is just lucky the guy isn't charged with theft.  That is a huge consideration of the girl to the guy.  If I am the girl, the hell with the share, I can just charge him with theft and get the 100% of the winnings since it is my money that guy spent.  It is very possible with the law to get 100% of the winnings since the money used was the girl's money.

Speaking of the relationship, the guy is the first one to breach the trust by stealing the girl's money and as I stated, the guy can be charged with theft.  It is a complete bullcrap that the girl is the evil one here.

She's a gold digger.
If they really are partners in life, they should consider the best thing for both of them. But she's only thinking about herself and doesn't want to let it pass off the mistake of his boyfriend which is also a bad thing.
Weighing things into this situation will depend on both parties and how they're going to address things like what they're facing. Well, it's both win for them as they've got huge money.

Sure, the girl exhibits greediness the moment he want his guy to give her a 40% share of his winnings. As a partner, you shouldn't demand like that when you didn't work for it in the first place. You just have to wait and see if your partner will recognize and appreciate you. After all, if they want to give you a portion of his blessings, they will do so, wholeheartedly. It's not something you force and oblige them to do for you.

However, the guys has his fair share of fault too. Him getting the money with no permission is a big red flag as well. If something is not yours, you shouldn't get your hands on it. Otherwise. you are disrespecting the owner, Which in this case is his girlfriend. I believe this couple lack in communication. Or perhaps they already outgrew each other but just don't want to break up because of convenience. Because clearly, respect isn't shown in their relationship given their attitude towards each other: the guy stealing his girlfriend's money and the girl demanding unreasonable amount to his boyfriend.
Yeah, that's why weighing the situation is hard so, whatever happens, they've got all of the decision there. That's why looking at both of them, they have to give each other what they deserve because if we'll analyze it, both has participation and one wouldn't get money without each other's back. Hopefully, the ending of this situation won't affect their relationship and they just need to have an agreement where they'll be contented for each share, whatever the amount will be shared.

~ First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? ~

Stealing money from your girlfriend, even though it's only 10,000 naira($23 USD), is no doubt a bad act. It's not a surprise that "the lady felt cheated" when he offered her only 5,000,000 naira after winning 100M. But let's forget about the guy because being such a cheater and also a greedy person, he's not worth our attention. The girl should be happy with taking $11.5k from him, and leave him as soon as possible.

What would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? All the money he won. Only in that case he would rehabilitate himself in her eyes, imo.

In my opinion, arguing with a girl is a very bad idea.

Girls are very vindictive and can take revenge.  So more, he stole money from the girl, that is, he committed a very bad deed.  Therefore, I would give the girl 40,000,000 dollars and at the same time I would consider that I got off very lightly.

As for the relationship with the boss, I would treat the boss to a good drink, but I would not give him money.  The boss should have moral satisfaction that he taught his student so well that he wins such a lot of money.

And moral satisfaction is more valuable than any money

What kind of story is this? People always surprise me with their rare stories. Anyway, for that girlfriend, I think she may as well consider not getting anything from his boyfriend and move on with her original money. She need to let go of him because that guy will be more furious against her once that money has been all used. That if she is the usual girl in the romantic movie but if she is not, I think she will gonna fight for her right for that money and might even get everything from that man if she sues him and win the case.

If it is related to gambling, there will probably be a lot of stories that will surprise us because when people start gambling more often, they can do anything to earn money. And that's what often happens around us.

But the man should have known that the money he used resulted from stealing his girlfriend's money, which was not good. It's natural for his girlfriend to be angry, especially after finding out that the guy earned a lot of money and only gave her the initial money.

But for story two, I sometimes think that the apprentice's money is his own money and he doesn't ask anyone else. But his boss asked to split the money into two parts even though he did not participate in the gambling.

That should be the case but the relationship of the apprentice and the boss is special.  It is something like a Master and a slave where the slave has no right to own anything.  Everything the slave(apprentice) has is bound to his Master(Boss) and it is recognized by the community.  It is also the reason why the people around them favor the Boss even though the apprentice won the money.  To think of it according to the tribe law, even though the money comes from the apprentice, prior to their agreement, the money can be considered as a property of the Boss.  Splitting the winnings to 50-50 is a generous act of the boss, by the law of the tribe and agreement the money won should be owned by the Boss.

Better marry the girl first before giving all the money to her Grin. At least anything they have would be a conjugal property.  Giving all the money to the girl without marrying her first is just nuts since there is a possibility that the girl would leave him after surrendering all the money to her.

But why do you think she has to be the one to give up on the money? In the case of slots if you play with the card of someone else the casino can void your winnings, as you are not using your own money and this could lead to players robbing other players.

And this case seems similar to that, the guy used money which did not belong to him by stealing from the girlfriend, so not only the girlfriend deserves half of that money, in my opinion she deserves all the money, so if anything she should sue her boyfriend and try to get all the money from him.

What kind of story is this? People always surprise me with their rare stories.

These are exceptional, extremely improbable stories that fill the headlines of gambling related sites.

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

You have to think that we are talking about Nigerian currency, Naira, and that the 40 million is about $100k, so it is more understandable. I think if I were the girlfriend, I would report him for theft if he doesn't agree but overall I find it pathetic.

Story 2
An apprentice who won 16 million naira on BET was asked by his boss to split the money into two parts. This 50 - 50. As the story goes, people sided with his boss, and he had no choice but to comply. It's important to remember that the money used to bet belongs to the apprentice, not the boss.

Well, if I were the apprentice, I'd tell the boss to go fuck himself.

I do think it would be acting too rash on the part of the girlfriend, if she either sues the boyfriend or request for the whole proceed of win. Only a part should be shared to her, and she should be content with it as there is love in sharing.
What if the boyfriend didn't expose to the girl about the winning, she would probably forgive him for stealing her cash.

As regards the apprentice, if I were the one, the boss has no right to claim what I win from gambling. I would even stop learning under him and find a reasonable venture to invest in.

But this boss shouldn't have done that and knew he wasn't giving money or anything that could make the apprentice place a bet and win a lot of money. And he also didn't have to ask for a share by dividing the prize money between the two because it wasn't from his money. And the boss must understand that the money used for gambling comes from the apprentice's money and not from the boss. But that's the reality of this life; weak people have to give in to people who have power without being able to do anything.

....

First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? Second, assuming you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?

[/quote]

Well, I do believe that if the guy stole the money from his girlfriend to gamble he has a serious addiction problem, so he should at least split the amount won in half and pay the additional 10k he stole. after that he should use the money to do some gambling detox.

As for the guy who decided to split his prize with his boss, he is being robbed. Or either the guy is a retard and the boss was a bloodsucking thief or he has some kind of submissive relation with the boss and doesn't want to let go.

Definitely under normal circumstances.  But as per the rule of apprenticeship that both parties agree, it was stated that the apprentice has no right to own anything and any property of the apprentice is owned by the boss.  There shouldn't be any argument here if we base the decision on the law of the tribe.  As I stated before, the boss is being generous in this story because he has the right to take all the winnings.   We may call the boss greedy but it was made legal because of the law of apprenticeship of the tribe.

But in a normal situation, disregarding the agreement between the two parties, it is really absurd that the boss will go after the winnings of the apprenticeship.  I pretty much have the same sympathy but things in the story aren't about what we think but about the rule and agreement between the two parties, the boss and the apprenticeship.

The Boyfriend only agreed to return the exact amount he stole (10k was stolen and the same 10k returned after such win no). Returning the exact money that was stolen after winning such huge amount isn't good for the fact the girlfriend is aware of how much he won then giving her an amount that will force smile from her face will save a lot of issues. She was obviously requesting 40 million dollars out of her own greed but it can be settled between them has long has the boyfriend offers something attractive enough.

On the other hand the deed has been done but the apprentice might have his reasons for conceding to the pressure from neighbours around. Sometimes publications don't carry the full story but as long as the apprentice left home rich then he lost nothing altogether.

She's a gold digger.

She is just demanding what she think is right.

If they really are partners in life, they should consider the best thing for both of them. But she's only thinking about herself and doesn't want to let it pass off the mistake of his boyfriend which is also a bad thing.

How about the guy? What do you call the the guys offense of stealing her girlfriend's money?  We are too quick in judging the girl because of her request but forgot that the guy did a more serious crime.

Weighing things into this situation will depend on both parties and how they're going to address things like what they're facing. Well, it's both win for them as they've got huge money.

Definitely it is not to up to us to solve their dilemmas.  We can just give our opinion and that's it.

It was the girl's money that was used to gamble so literally it is the girls winning  Grin.  It is also generous for the girl to ask only 40m and not demanding the whole winnings.

These are two gambling stories that are very interesting

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfiend?
But in this case, had it been the boyfriend never won this 100million and lost the 10k, would she have requested for 40million? Because thou the money belongs to her, the money would have never multiplied by itself to 100million without the boyfriend taking the initiative to brainstorm and bet, of which he was lucky. So to me, he actually has the right to all the money, because even if the money was borrowed from bank with daily interest, 10k can never accumulate a interest of 40million, not even in the next 200years from now. But normally is good to appreciate, and if I'm the boyfriend, what i will do is give my girlfriend 10million to start business and not 10k.

Quote

Second, assumingg you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?
From the way this sound, it seems maybe the apprentice was working in a betting shop, and as someone whorking in a betting shop, your noss in a bit has control over your activities, and if as long as the game was bet during his work hours, then he can equally request for a share of the money, but instead of 50/50, for me, i would have been better shared at 40/60, while the owner goes home with the lion share

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

I'm going to look at this from a legal angle. I think maybe the girlfriend is looking or considering the fact that the boyfriend stole the money. Maybe she is could be going for damages or remedy for stealing her money and in court she could get some relief and the court may look at the consideration of trauma or depression that she might have gone through depending on her financial status. So the court will look at the winning money to make judgement.

On the other side too, I read the story and from the story, she forgot the money in the man's house at the shelf. So it may not be that the man stole it if a competent lawyer handles the case to defend the boyfriend, only that he didn't remind the lady of the money but used it for a necessity at the time. It is a matter to be looked into rigorously and going to be an interesting matter to adjudicate upon in court because it has different dimension to it, from forgetting it on the shelf, not stealing it but used it for necessity at the time , not reminding her of forgotten money.

First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend?

Well for remedy sake I think she will get something substantial but not $40m. It won't be 60:40 nope. 10% of the winning money will be considerate IMO, that is $10m.

Story 2
An apprentice who won 16 million naira on BET was asked by his boss to split the money into two parts. This 50 - 50. As the story goes, people sided with his boss, and he had no choice but to comply. It's important to remember that the money used to bet belongs to the apprentice, not the boss.

Second, assuming you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?

This is simple. The apprentice didn't borrow the betting money from the boss neither did he borrow it from him so why splitting for 50:50 ? No not fair. This is not a fair decision even from the response from tweeter users responding. The  apprentice can only appreciate his boss with whatever he so wish and if the boss refuse, he can walk away to start learning somewhere else.

Note: For both cases, I didn't consider losing from both bets because that is also possible and if this had happened, the bettor would be left to bear the losing brunt alone, so why even requiring some money from the bettor just because there is a winning. This aspect of my judgement is typical of another judge different from the two above.  Grin Grin

It will depend on how serious i take her as my girlfriend, if shes good enough to be my wife, i will just marry her and we both spend the money together for the rest of our lives, together with our children of course.

But on the other hand, if shes not a wife material, i will give her her requested 40 million and make sure she is happy before we split, i will give her  the 40 million because if i had lost the game as well as the money, she would have understood with me after explaining to her.

I will split the money with him if i was still under his custody when i won the money, that is if i am living under his roof.
But in a situation where i am not living with him, hes not the one feeding me, clothing me, taking care of my personal needs, i am not splitting the money him no matter what, if he needs financial help, i will willingly decide whether to help him or not, but him forcing me to split my winning, that will not work.

Better marry the girl first before giving all the money to her Grin. At least anything they have would be a conjugal property.  Giving all the money to the girl without marrying her first is just nuts since there is a possibility that the girl would leave him after surrendering all the money to her.

Marriage is not something to be f*cking around with. It's a serious thing, maybe the most serious thing in your life. That guy who first stole her money, and then decided to not share the prize 50/50 ... Well, it's better to give him even more money than marry him. I really hope that that girl left him for good. And feel bad that gambling is associated with such pieces of sh*t as the guy in question.
