As BitcoinTalk Community Awards 2023 edition just started, I'd suggest to our group to translate this topic as well.
In case it'll be approved, be aware that the topic was already translated in [Rom] • [Ger] • [Por] • [Ita] • [Spa] • [Cro]

Good proposal Gazeta. It would be great because that contest is one of the most important annual events in the forum and, as voting will be open for two months, we have plenty of time to translate it and discuss about the awards in our respective local boards.

I am in full support of Hatchy to be the main translator because he has been active in our local board naija, I may have more translation than him for now but that doesn't mean he is not capable, I really honour him with the way he is treating all the translated topics. He is really an ambassador of The Alliance Of Bitcointalk Translators [AOBT], because of him many members know [AOBT] exist. Since there is not space for me I will be happy to work with Hatchy.

Wow @ Chiwell, that's very fast. It's nice you decided to do the Translation of that thread and I really appreciate. But the idea about Translations isn't to be fast.
I decided to go through your tranlation and do a proof reading, and found out that it was mostly in English and not pidgin. I'm not saying you didn't translate or shouldn't have translated it, but I'm saying that you should have taken your time to do the Translation.  When translating in your local language, you should be able to replace most English words in your local language. Although pidgin is most of English, but it's more of broken English and we do have many words that can be translated to pidgin.

Here's my proposal for you.

Thank you Chilwell, I have just added it to the list. As Hatchy said, this is an important thread so we should try to do our best, especially taking into account that this event may last several/many years.

Well you say you don't have a portfolio, but in fact eleven topics is a very good start and can be considered a portfolio even if you don't have them in a list.

Our initial idea (my colleagues will correct me if that's wrong) was to recruit translators from the main local boards and we were not thinking in the category: "other languages". But, since Bangla is the second most viewed language in that category, I think that we could make an exception here.

Please, let us discuss it internally and vote, and we'll let you know the decision in a few days, this weekend at the latest.

Sorry Hewlet but I'm afraid that it won't be possible. It seems that you didn't read the previous posts in this page but if you do it you'll see that we have recently covered that board too. You can still ask our main translator Hatchy just in case, but he has already stated that he is able to manage all translations, and that he will ask Chilwell for help if he needs it. So don't be too optimistic.

unfortunately i have to get something off my chest here and it concerns the translations of the TalkImg thread by joker_josue
the guy does a great job for the whole community with his service and we have also formed a great aobt community here with our alliance, but if i just look at the arabic (@Kavelj22), philippine (@Peanutswar), russian (@zasad@) and turkish (@mindrust) translations as an example, then in my opinion it is not enough to just translate the thread once, collect the merits and after me the flood of meaning, but you have to continue to maintain this own translation with the upcoming updates and also include it in the translation - in these translations, nothing was updated in the op after publication...

i just want to throw this into the room as a point of criticism and have nothing against the people mentioned here and their further translations. i just happened to notice this now, after i updated my thread with the latest updates

That problem was exposed some time ago in this thread, and you are totally right. I understand that we can't force other members to keep a high vigilance on several topics, especially when they are translating them for free, but in the case you mentioned and a few more (like the Bitcointalk Awards for example) there is some kind of moral obligation to not let them die. Especially in the case of TalkImg, because as you said joker_josue is doing some extra work to keep us informed about the changes in his topic so we don't have to constantly be monitoring it.

As I said, this problem is hard to solve because we do it pro bono, unlike paid campaigns where there is extra motivation. It doesn't only happen inside our gang: I found that some topics that were proposed here had been translated into Spanish in my local board, but abandoned, with the problem of having to decide to leave it that way or duplicate topics, which is forbidden.

Anyway, although the problem won't go away overnight, it is important to remember it from time to time. I'm sure that, in most cases, translated topics aren't updated not because of bad faith, but because of unawareness of the latest updates. I stopped sending DMs often inside out group because I felt that they could be overwhelming for some AoBTers, but I'll definitely start sending them back not only when there is a decision to be made, but when there are changes in our topics too (it seems that not everyone uses the Telegram bot here, and mentions in this thread go unnoticed in several cases).

In the attention to all AOBT users:

As you may remember, on September 24th, Ratimov (known now as Symmetrick) came to our topic and started insulting all translators, by calling them incompetents. Below is a short sum-up.

Wow, what happened here?

What happened? Not much. Ratimov just wanted to prove himself what a great DT user (and also good forum contributor) is... He came around, threw some insults towards translators, did not make any proof for his BS... Then, when I confronted him with the fact that he does precisely what he accuses the translators of (but, unlike him, I presented clear evidence for my allegations) he went nuts, started to insult me in the way he was taught, prolly by his parents, then he flexed his muscles once more to show how well he uses Trust system and how much he deserves to be in DT1, by throwing at me 2 negative feedbacks (both with no ref link) plus a neutral one (again, with no ref link), all stating pure shit.

That's a short sum-up of what happened. [...]

I understand that others may feel intimidated to speak-up due to Ratimov's 111111000000 merits (obtain through plagiarism) or they are also intimidated by the fact that the clown will leave them negative feedback, but don't worry! This clown does not belong to DT1. I hope that other users will take some actions about this disgusting behavior.

I reminded him that he is walking on a thin line, but instead of stopping, he continued.


Today, 2.5 months later, this is what followed after he made those disgusting insults toward AOBT group:

This is a short sum-up of events which followed after the launch of this topic:

- This topic exposes all Ratimov / Symmetrick's shenanigans from past years. This includes his copy-pastes and plagiarism, which brought him thousands of merits; his merit showers after he became a Merit Source, which helped him build an army of minions which supported him during time; his Trust abuses (false negative feedbacks, full only of insults and with no reference link; Trust extortion; retaliatory false feedbacks; retaliatory Trust exclusions).

- Many DT and non-DT users distrusted him or stop trusting him and, eventually, he is kicked out of DT and his DT strength goes from +13 to -11. The following DT users distrued or stopped trusting Ratimov aka Symmetrick: LoyceV, Foxpup, fillippone, The Pharmacist, 1miau, icopress, NeuroticFish, vapourminer, Poker Player, philipma1957, BitcoinGirl.Club, lovesmayfamilis, klarki, jokers10, zasad@, wwzsoki, JollyGood, holydarkness, Rikafip, Brainboss, bullrun2020bro, Stalker22, examplens, Bitcoin_Arena, witcher_sense, Charles-Tim, sheenshane, tvplus006, Coin-1, YOSHIE, yahoo62278 and myself. The following non-DT users distrued or stopped trusting Ratimov aka Symmetrick: suchmoon, mikeywith, DYING_S0UL, The0ldl_lser, Nestade, iwantmysecond1000yardsbackyardpaidwithbtctoo, owlcatz, Learn Bitcoin, nakamura12, Despairo, SmartGold01, DireWolfM14, light_warrior, PowerGlove, execijutiere, Synchronice, Plaguedeath, giammangiato, SatoPrincess, Husires, sokani, Smartprofit, _BlackStar, Shamm, KingsDen, Silence Scream, Wapfika and Jossque.



- He started a mass purge of his old posts and topics (and the list from the link is not full), possibly some with plagiarism evidence, involving also in his actions the 2 Russian mods which he fools into becoming his personal garbage men, until theymos puts a stop to this (it was too late anyway). He even deleted his Merit Source application thread, which shows how much he appreciates the thread which helped him obtain a substantial part of the powers he had during years. For all these actions he received an official warning that he will be banned in case he will continue.

- He deletes all his left feedbacks, retracts all his support for flags and wipes his Trust list. As a consequence, he presents now no need to be trusted by anyone, since there is nothing to trust about his judgement / feedbacks left.

- After all these, he stops posting in international sections and resumes only to Russian local board.

- He stops earning merits with lightning speed; stops sending merits with lightning speed (if you check his merit activity you can see that lately he sent some merits at intervals of ~one week).

- Changes his name.

- Changes his email and password.

- After announcing almost 1 year ago that he'll sponsor a contest with ~1650$ (0.0435 BTC) only for trying to earn even more merits / popularity / reputation, seeing that he lost all his reputation he cancels his sponsorship with ~1 month before the contest ends. This may lead to some flags raised against him, in case the contest winners will decide to do so.

- Soon after, he decides to leave the signature campaign where he was enrolled.

- He is no longer a merit source. This was common sense, since he had no respect even for his Merit Source application thread, which he trashed as well. In fact, I actually stated this is what should happen, due to such lack of common sense..

- After my alusion from November 23rd about the possibility that Ratimov sold his account, new rumors about this matter appeared in a standalone thread, on December 7th.

- After the apparition of above mentioned thread, he received a 2 red tags from DT users for selling his account.

I wanted to bring awareness to the entire group about how things developed, in case some of you did not follow the discussion inside the thread I opened at his address (Should Ratimov aka Symmetrick be in DT1?).


Porf, I think you should remove Russian translation for the topic Bitcoin Pizza bake-off contest! Enter by June 1, as this is one of the thousand posts Ratimov deleted, thus the Russian translation does not exist anymore.

I am glad that I read this one and also getting PM by you about the situation even though I am not an official member of AOBT. I don't want to go through some situation especially when I am in DT2 even though it is much lower than DT1 but I am fine with or satisfied on how it is. I am quite curious as to why you think that I am non-DT user when I am in DT2 for years although it isn't a problem for me since I also think that DT1 are more like to be the main DT user as you may know that DT2 is also a DT where the level and ability are the only difference between the two. Honestly, I don't want people to distrust me and also trust me because I said so but to their own decision alone and I am not saying I can't be trusted. It's just because I don't have a good reputation yet. Anyway, sorry for being off-topic all of a sudden here. I'll delete this if necessary or needed.

My dear nakamura12 -- the man which gave me my second merit on this forum (and, as I said with other occasions, I'll never forget that -- it's just a way of speaking: most users, when they refer to "DT users" refer mostly to "DT1 users". DT2 users also influence Trust scores by their feedbacks, this is true, but usually when saying "DT users" it's implied that the reference is about DT1 users. It's just semantics, if you want.

The difference between the two categories is that for DT2 you only need to be on the Trust list of a DT1, while for being DT1 more criteria need to be satisfied in order to be eligible -- and not even by then you are a DT1 for sure, as the monthly reshuffles can keep you off DT1, even if you meet the criteria.

But let's not continue here this discussion, as it's not actually on topic. I only wanted to give a heads-up of what happened after Ratimov acted miserably with all AOBT users.

First of all, our language (Bangla) doesn't have any official place in AOBT, and our Learn Bitcoin brother did a lot of translations of GazetaBitcoin for our local board (thread actually). So I'm vouching for him, and I support his application.

Second of all, I also did five translations for GazetaBitcoin. Here are all the topics covered by both of us. Also, if you check my feedbacks, you'll find tag by GazetaBitcoin.

In the meantime, if Learn Bitcoin is accepted as the main translator for our board, I would love to be a backup translator (of course, if Learn Bitcoin needs a helping hand, with his permission).
