I'd like to share my experience with you all. Even though I'm not currently employed, I went through a phase of gambling while I was working in the past, and the outcome wasn't positive. It affected my job performance because, as you may know, when you lose, you tend to dwell on your losses and constantly think about strategies to win. When we talk about work, it usually means we're not particularly wealthy, and imagine what happens when we gamble money we can't afford to lose, especially when we're not earning much.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. It might be manageable if you're winning, but the harsh reality is often quite the opposite. Even when we do win, we tend to spend most of our winnings, so we don't treat it as business money. This leaves us in a precarious situation when we lose because the money we initially budgeted for our families gets diverted to cover unexpected gambling-related expenses.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.

If it ever get to the stage where you ruminate about gambling in your place of work for more than a minute or so then it is time to seek help from a therapist. And where you work efficiency and output has declined as a result of this it is good to seek help from your colleagues because you may likely be the first person to get fired for not reaching the KPIs set by your company.

Yes I did gambling while I was still being an employee long time ago, interesting fact is that my boss and some of my friends in the office also love to gamble so sometime we play together in local poker sites.
We did it wisely so our gambling activity during the working hours was not affecting our jobs/tasks.
It was fun thing to do when there was free time on the working days but of course it is not recommended thing to do by others unless you have similar situation with mine.
Now I'm no longer an employee as I have my own business IRL so I have more time to gamble and I'm free to decide when I want to gamble as I wish.

It would be highly inadvisable to gamble while still carrying out our work activities. like you said, I swear by it because I've done it in the past. For example, a high sense of laziness will dominate our thoughts more dominantly. So, our performance is not optimal. Apart from losing money, especially as you said, risking money that you are not prepared to lose is a big mistake. if it makes us win, then we are lucky. if we lose, we will instead look for a loan to cover our basic needs. and this cycle has the potential to repeat itself over and over again, and the most fatal risk is that we no longer have a job. So, I never suggest to someone to carry out gambling sessions in between work activities. because, then we no longer have good control as responsible gamblers.
