If you able to manage working and gambling at workplace altogether then good for you  even though that doesn't mean it is that so simple for others to manage it that way too. There are people that can quickly get carried away that they use extra work time to continue in their gambling at a supposed time when break should be over, and because not everyone has the ability to manage it all together in good thats why organisations frown against gambling at workplace and abhor workers who would want to mix work with gambling because it will most likely affect productiveness of the worker no matter how they may try to be in control of how they gamble.
Fun is necessary at workplace but not with through gambling there's high possibility of a loophole for low productivity no matter what.

Not only gambling but also other activities that can distract an employee in attending to his work.  Aside from that, the company sees it unfair to see their employee using their working time for gambling thus, if the employee is caught, the company will impose a penalty or punishment to the guilty employee.

Aside from that, some employee are unable to control their emotion and when they lose their gambling activity, their performance in their work is affected resulting in getting agitated easily or making errors and mistakes with their work.  The efficiency of these employees becomes lower thus, the company is losing as a result.

If we value our jobs then better to remove all distractions and perform at optimum so that the company will feel that they are right in employing us and probably will think of giving us a raise.

I think this is too risky most especially if you have family to feed. Even rich people struggle to achieve a balance focus between gambling and a job. This would be such a bad idea but also it depends on the job you are doing as well I assume. Like some night shift personnel may not have that much work to do and I am guessing that it is not going to be something to do for them, it is just being there and maybe work an hour at most and then just rest is spending time.

As someone who worked at nights before for a very long time, I can tell you that there aren't that many things that you do during the night, you just keep the place busy but that's about it. I believe that we could end up with something that would make sense on the long run, and for that we could gamble because it would give us something to do. I personally watched tv series . Having time to gamble will not interfere with other activities, especially when we are working, because when we work, it requires higher focus to complete our work. It's good if you can control it because not many gamblers can manage their time for gambling and other activities, sometimes it's strange, I also often find my work friends gambling during work breaks which they should use to relax and rest but instead use them for gambling. I gotta say gambling at work is probably not the best idea.  Your boss is paying you to work, not bet on games online and  that being said, everyone deserves a little break now and then.  If you've been grinding I don't see an issue with quickly checking a score or placing a small wager when youve got some downtime.
