This question is interesting. For me, I would say that there are a lot of jobs out there that don't provide more time for the employees who are working. Some workers don't have the chance to rest from work and do not talk about gambling during work time, but there are other jobs that don't stress the workers. Those employees who work in a company that doesn't stress the workers. But I think some of the workers during their free time at work (break) might try to have fun or rest for a while and during that process, if there is any gambler in the midst of the workers, then the gamblers can gamble online because it's free time for them, but still it is not a good endeavour to gamble at work.

Well, I gamble at work from time to time, but my job is like that, sometimes I have "free time" at work. I guess some jobs require total focus, but my job is not like that, so I can allow myself to gamble or do some other things while I am at work. It's not always like that, but there are good moments at work.

But what if your employee or your boss know you're a gambler? it's a long term effect and every employees always know you're a gambler even you've stop to gamble. Most people always think gambler will give a bad effect at work, so you might be ostracized by other employees or kicked from the company.

Employers don't like what will distract their employee and so in the first place if at the interview level and you were asked about gambling and whether you criticize those gambling, it is a way to ask if you have interest in gambling or whether you gamble so your response will determine if you will get the job base on what they want.

If a company is not looking for gamblers you may not be employed in such places especially if you have to be handling cash at the work place. So it depends on what the employer wants but majority of the establishment want someone committed to the time of work. No employer will be happy if you misuse the working hours.

Yes, I do this frequently but not on my office hours. I usually place bet on my computer when I arrived early to my office then check the result of my bet later on after work. I’m only playing sportsbook at office since it’s a serious offense to be caught playing gambling on the workspace.

Reading your story I can assume that you are playing an interactive game such as slot or other games that requires attention most of the time that’s why you become stressed. Seriously. Any of you who are gambling at work, seek professional help. Believe it or not, you need help, and you will end up seeking it sooner or later, so sooner is better. This question would be answered with relation to the nature of job each individual do. For some persons their jobs provide them with enough time to do other things, while some do have ample break period where they can do things that are their lesuire  so I think these are the times with which for gamblers they could quickly scroll through their smart device and place a bet.

For those who work remotely they have more control of their time and can at any point pause to gamble, I personally I work remotely from my house so in-between work I could take a break place a bet and continue then at the end of the day I can go check on my bets so basically I place bet at work even if it's not a very formal office, more like my work station at home from where I work.

Personally, I also sometimes like to gamble at work during my breaks. Like playing slots or soccer gambling. But despite this, I have some money that I risk in gambling and use cold hard cash. So I never use money that has been earmarked for my or my family's needs as gambling capital. Because whatever happens, even though we gamble there must be limits and we must not harm ourselves in the context of large losses. If the loss is small, that's normal. Because in gambling there are bound to be wins and losses. So basically the key to my gambling comfort is financial management. Because I have my own rules and limits when playing gambling. If explained in detail, I have special money intended for gambling. So, for example, if I lose and my gambling money has run out, I have to be patient until payday arrives. So for me personally, gambling at work, at home, or at a hangout, I think it's all the same. But even so, it would be better if gamble when get home from work and rest at home. But unlike us, there is no time and opportunity to gamble while working, because we are always in the field, there is no opportunity to place bets, we gamble when working hours end, usually gambling at night, there is no time during the day.

The side effect of gambling while at work is demoralising. The thought of losing a game puts you off balance and weakens your morals to work not to talk of when you are indebted and have a family to cater for. Though I do not have any kind of experience that reached similarly to yours, I have personally witnessed someone close to our family whose life slowly crippled away due to his gambling and drug addiction. When I was a kid, my uncle used to have a stable career and healthy relationships with everyone. But when his co-workers introduced him to gambling and drugs, our family saw the difference- like it was literally night and day.

Unfortunately, my uncle still lives in his dark era where he continues to battle gambling addiction. We still hope that he recovers but this is just a testament on how gambling and drug addiction can turn your life around.

This is what happens when one is addicted to gambling, you will want to gamble all the time because you are being controlled by your emotion to chase your losses, irrespective of where you are, either at work or wherever. This is a serious case because your attention will be diverted from carrying out your job effectively.

I have not experience such but I have a colleague who is a core gambler and when he comes to work, you will see him not settled and every time he comes to work, he is always complaining of one problem or the other to enable him get funds from people at our work place so that he can sneak to gamble with the money. The worst thing is that he keeps on borrowing money from almost everybody in the office and before you know it, he has accumulated debts that is more than his salary.

During payday, he ends up going home with nothing because everybody that borrowed him money will line up to get their funds back from him. I do pity for him, sometimes the moment payment is done he collects part of his salary in advance just to meet up with his gambling activities. His gambling activities started frustrating him to the extend that he can no longer pay people that he borrows money for,this made our Boss to take him for counseling.

There was a time that office funds kept in his custody was used to gamble and this almost led to his sack. I am happy that he has overcome his addiction now and he gambles responsible.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. It might be manageable if you're winning, but the harsh reality is often quite the opposite. Even when we do win, we tend to spend most of our winnings, so we don't treat it as business money. This leaves us in a precarious situation when we lose because the money we initially budgeted for our families gets diverted to cover unexpected gambling-related expenses.

Im sorry to hear that but I do think that you should manage how you gamble as it's affecting you as an individual. I'm not particularly rich, I'm actually on a below mid income on my country which compared to other country is too low, but I always manage or handle my gambling session better than this.
I also do online gambling when at work like doing dice and slots when there's free time and sportbet when there's a major sport or gambling opportunity arise and it tends to be more fun as some of my colleagues are also interested to bet on it. Whether we lose or win, it actually is fun as long as you don't bet or gamble what you can afford to lose.  Also, having someone to share your loses or wins are much more fun than doing alone.
Still, nobody should be gambling while at work, not only is it mostly not allowed by most company or HR which might jeopardize your job, it may also take away your focus from your work.

I find it hard to see how you are gambling while at work, unless you work online and you are also gambling online to which you are using your phone or your office computer. Your boss will even kick you out of playing solitaire in your office all the more when you are playing on casinos.

This did not particularly happen to me but to someone who is very close. He is a gambler an addict at that and was somehow employed in the finance department of his company. Gamblers and finance or money do not mix and because he did not disclose his gambling problem to his employers no one knew how much he suffered from this addiction. This person would alter financial accounts to embezzle money just to fulfill his gambling urge. He continued stealing from the organisation coffers until an audit was made and it was noticed that monies were missing and he was the main suspect. He was later arrested and  through family intervention he was released and fired from his workplace. His family made effort to get him to be rehabilitated and I think he's making good progress right now.
