I also appreciated Juventus efforts, even though they were eliminated, they fought until the end with 10 men. There was some controversy regarding a foul in the penalty area, as I didn't see it as a foul.

Vinicus was the best player of the game,he stepped in when no one expected and saved real madrid from a 1-1 draw against benfica. Even in the first leg vinicus jr was the same player whose goal helped real madrid defeat benfica at the estadio da Luz. Vinicus jr is a great player and blessing to real madrid against benfica because if he hadn't been for those goals he scored real Madrid woldn't had beaten benfica twice.
Vinicus best revenge for Benfica which they deserved. I didn't expect Madrid to be so dominant, as I thought that without Mbappe the attack would be less than optimal but Arbeloa had a way of freeing Valverde to push forward into Benfica's half. The win also came at a cost as Asensio was badly injured in a clash with Camavinga.
Congratulations to Madrid and guess what club Madrid will meet in the UCL draw on Friday? I think Manchester City, because FIFA knows how to make money to create interesting matches.

It was surprising how Real Madrid dominated Benfica, despite with the absence of some of their key players. They played the match without Mbappe, Rodrygo and Bellingham, I thought it would be a game that Real Madrid had to struggle to get a draw. Real Madrid performance in their last home and away is obvious that they can beat any team in this tournament, if they are ready to play at their best level. Vinicius repeated his dancing celebration after his goal to silence his haters.

We have been watching Manchester City and Real Madrid facing each other in the Champions League back to back, and we are getting tired of seeing them face each other in the round of 16. FIFA makes a lot of money if these two teams play against each other because they have a lot of fan base across the world. This time around, I think it would be better for Real Madrid to face another opponent like Sporting.

Nothing to do Real Madrid still played a good game, first equalising two minutes after receiving the first goal and finally finishing the game in the second half.
They had a much more attacking game sending them under pressure, although in reality they had exactly 4 shots on target from both sides, for a total of 12 shots for Real Madrid and 8 for Benfica.
I liked the game overall.
I definitely agree with you about Vinicus being the most important player in Real Madrid, take a look at his performance is so incredible both in first leg and also the second leg, he did what you could to save Real Madrid. At least now benfica way say that it's opportunity they got in the first time to even reach this level. Now benfica's attention will be at their home League so that they will continue with their good work they are doing there. They are still running unbeaten and I think their match against Real Madrid have caused them a lot because that is what I've seen in their performance.
Actually Vinicius has made Madrid pass the toughest UCL test because we noticed that Madrid was nervous against Benfica in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League. You may have noticed that the visiting team Benfica attacked first then it seemed that Jose Mourinho had given his team the right advice because this team played very aggressively in the second leg of the UCL playoffs at home in Madrid, after they scored a goal and went ahead, there was a possibility that this team might reach the Round of 16. Anyway, it seems to me Vinicius Junior then turned the match around for Madrid as the player scored the winning goal in the eightieth minute, which allowed Spanish giants Madrid to reach the round of 16 in the 2025/26 season.

Atalanta lost 2-0 in the first leg against Dortmund. It was very difficult to win by 3+ goals in the  second leg against an experienced team like Dortmund. But atalanta's players performed incredibly well. They were able to secure a  wonderful 4-1 wi n. I am looking forward to seeing who their opponents are in the round of 16.

Atalanta really did well yesterday and they deserve to advance to the round of 16. I like the way they started the game, they started on a front foot realizing that they have 2 goals deficit. I also think the game is a very interesting game to watch and I also feel for dortmunt, because they game should have gone to extra time if not for the late mistake from their goal keeper, which lead to the penalty.
Juventus on the other hand bowed out with their head high. I was really impressed with the way they played even with a man down, they were still able to score 3 goals to take the game to extra time. It such a pity that they have to exit the Champions League in such a manner,  but I still think they should be proud of their performance.

Atalanta has shown significant improvement so far in the Champions League. Despite losing the first leg, they ultimately advanced to the next round after a quite impressive performance. Initially, I thought Dortmund would perform much better and that Atalanta's chances of advancing were slim, but they truly showed a different quality, forcing Dortmund to exit the Champions League early.

The 2-0 loss in the first leg made many think Atalanta wouldn't advance, but they truly showed a different quality. I'm also looking forward to Atalanta's next opponent because if they play this well, it's not impossible that Atalanta can advance to the next round and achieve even more satisfying results in this season's Champions League.

What the hell just happened yesterday in the Juventus Galatasaray game??? I mean how Galatasaray can be so silly to let Juventus comeback with one men less and they ahving a huge advantage??? And after it seems like they recover the memory and starts to play again and took them out in extra time.
That was crazy, to go on and score two goals despite being a man down. The odd were literally against the old ladies but somehow they were able to find their way back in the game. If they had knocked out Gala, I would have really liked it. Regardless of the outcome, I am still pleased with the performance, especially the resilience.
Maybe if there was no red card from Juventus then the game would be different there is a possibility of Juventus qualifying for the next round considering they were able to comeback with 10 players only 1 more goal they were unable to do.

Extra time was the end for Juventus, either the players were tired or Galatasaray was ready to conquer them in this round, so Juventus' efforts were in vain in extra time.

Who would have really thought that among all those Italian teams, Atalanta would be the only one to progress... Napoli couldn't even see playoffs. Inter lost to Bodø/Glimt in both games! And Juventus also failed in playoffs.

Atalanta's comeback was indeed amazing man. After the first leg ended by 2-0 I was like that must be it. But no, they still were ready to answer in a stronger way.

Things are going on well for them in the Serie A too recently.

If you're referring to the foul that led to the penalty against Galatasaray, I believe a red card should have been shown there, or at the very least a yellow. It was a direct stud-first challenge with a straight leg. Not to mention the sending-off of the Juventus player, Kelly. He played the ball, not the opponent; the opponent, for his part, was late to the ball and got injured. Kelly simply landed and accidentally stepped on the foot; he wasn't even looking where he was landing. How the referee saw a red card offense in this episode is completely beyond me.

I think there was direct contact with the player's ankle, and when I first watched it, he didn't pull his foot back even though it touched his leg. Maybe that's why Kelly got a red card. If Juventus hadn't been reduced to ten men, they could have easily won this match. Despite being down to ten men, they played magnificently for 90 minutes. They also missed 2-3 chances, and if they had scored those, they would have advanced despite being down to ten men.

My bets about PSG and Galatasaray were successful, despite the drama between Juventus and Galatasaray. Juventus was close to achieving a historical success, but the red card for one of their players was too much for them and they couldn't survive in the added time. It was a big surprise for me to watch Atalanta winning 4-1 against Borussia. Italian teams should never be underestimated(unless we are talking about Inter). Benfica failed to eliminate Real Madrid after scoring an early goal. Real managed to equalize pretty fast and Benfica failed to create more goal opportunities for themselves. Moral of the story, I still suck at sports betting.
Juventus gave one of their best performance yesterday i never they will win Galatasaray after their red in the 48th minutes of the match till they played extra time but it was unfortunate that they got eliminated by Aggregate because Galatasaray has 7 goals in total while Juventus has 5 goals. Paris Saint German played a 2-2 draw with Monaco their first leg 3-2 win gave them 5-4 on Aggregate to qualify to the next round. Atalanta was incredible the scoreline was so embarrassing, Real madrid has this spirit of not giving up most expecially in the uefa champions league.
Juventus football team won the match against Galatasaray football team because they did more goals in this match and opponent team did 2 goals in this match. The shots of Galatasaray football team were more in number and these were 17 in this match and 11 shots were on target and possession percentage of that team was 52 percent in this match as they tried to hold football for more time in which they became successful in their mission. Locatelli was a person who did first goal of the match and he did this goal at  37 minutes of the match and that goal was at penalty and their possession was 48 percent in this match and they tried to win this match.  McKennie was a person who did 3rd goal when it was requirement of the team.

At least Atalanta was the only Italian club to qualify, their comeback was incredible. I watched their match and was pleased with the coach's efforts to prevent Dortmund players from gaining too much space.
Atalanta wanted to be singled out among the other Serie A teams in the Champions League and their effort helped them to reach the knockout stages even when Dortmund almost wanted to ruin their efforts by scoring a goal that would have led them to an extra time, but Atalanta's Lazar scored a late minute penalty kick that shortened the journey for them at full-time.

I also appreciated Juventus efforts, even though they were eliminated, they fought until the end with 10 men. There was some controversy regarding a foul in the penalty area, as I didn't see it as a foul.
Yeah, Juventus really surprised me for the first time this season because imagine scoring more 2 goals after they received a red card and still managed to reach the extra time before their strength failed them and they lost to Galatasaray. I like their bravery, but they should be more prepared next season if they get the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League games again.

Honestly, they performed beyond people expectations yesterday because many people never expected Atalanta to beat and eliminate Dortmund in this ongoing Champions League. I even saw Dortmund as the strongest team yesterday. With the kind of belief I had in Dortmund, I even wanted to extend my bet on them, but in the end, I was disappointed with their performance.

Atalanta really deserved to win the match yesterday, and hosting the match really made them stronger. I wish Atalanta can make it much further in the other stages of the Champions League. As for Juventus, they also played well. Even with the red card, they did not give up. They played so well until the last minute of the game. With the way Juventus played yesterday, I am just imagining how the game would have ended if they had not received the red card.

It would have been a thing of shame that no Italian team made it to the knockout phase of the Champions League, so I must commend Atalanta for overturning Borussia Dortmund defeat and proceed to the next phase of the Champions League. Juventus's performance against Galatasaray is also commendable because the odds were against them but they fought so hard to ensure a safe passage to the next round of the Champions League but their efforts were limited because of the red card they conceded against Galatasaray.

Actually, Juventus received a red card not only in this match but also in the previous one, playing with a man down in both games, which put them at a huge disadvantage. They weren't doing very well in the Italian league, but they played magnificently in the Champions League yesterday. In my opinion, they deserved to advance, but their heavy defeat in the first round prevented it. Despite playing more, Galatasaray couldn't gain the upper hand against Juventus, and the match went to extra time. In extra time, the tired Juventus defense conceded two goals, and they were eliminated. Nevertheless, the fans were extremely pleased with the team because it was a magnificent evening.

Actually, Sporting is also a very tough opponent but it won't be as difficult as facing Manchester city. However, since this is the UCL, Real madrid must be prepared for the worst-case scenario, regardless of who their opponent is. Surprises sometimes come from underdog teams. However, if Real Madrid were to face Manchester City and win, they would automatically have overcome one of the biggest obstacles. But defeating Manchester City will require extra effort. Personally, I cannot predict the outcome of a Real mdrid match against Manchester City.

After seeing how clubs like Bodo and Galatasary managed to qualify i don't think I'll dount if it would be possible for Sporting to eliminate Manchester City, although you're right that it would be tough for Sporting to do that cause the Champions is important to Manchester City and they won't allow Sporting eliminate them easily infact they'll be favorites to qualify for the next round except Sporting prove otherwise.

One thing about Real Madrid is that they might be weak from the beginning but they end up doing better as they go further, qualifying for the next round would give them a boost of confidence and it's going to be tough for any opponent they come across.
Normally, we might think that any team would struggle to stop Real Madrid or Manchester City. but in reality, no one knows for sure. This season, even a team like PSG has faced clear difficulties against an underdog. Real Madrid has experienced the same thing, even losing to Benfica. And we never know which team will create more surprises this season. Because the UCL is always like this. The excitement here is that we sometimes can't predict which team will truly keep advancing until the end.

The biggest surprise of the round was Bodø/Glimt and another surprising thing was to see Atalanta coming back from that by a huge win over Dortmund.

Galatasaray were also nearly messing up hard by a horrible effort in the 2nd leg but Juventus were out of energy during extra time. They really need to play better next time.

Tottenham / Liverpool is going to be their next target in last 16. I hope they get Tottenham from the draw otherwise I don't expect them to see quarter finals.  Tongue

Teams that are favorites on paper can be defeated in the Champions League. Let's remember this from Inter's elimination. When this draw came up, everyone thought Inter would easily win both matches and advance, but Borussia Dortmund surprised the world by winning both games. This is the Champions League, and anything is possible.

EFS you didn't talk about Galatasaray, but as a Turkish guy I am sure you had to hold your breath for a while, didn't you? Grin

Lots of amazing games in the UCL this week and the only Italian team that is holding up Italy's flag in the competition is Atalanta. Nobody would have thought that is possible when the pairings were known for this playoff round. Inter Milan and Juventus Turin eliminated is bad news for Italy. I don't know what the current score is in the 5 year UEFA ranking, but this season is not helping Italy at all. This could cost them lots of valuable points that they should have usually been able to gather against Bodo/Glimt and Galatasaray.

Although it should be said that playing Galatasaray away from home is no pleasure for any team. There have been many big favorites that had trouble against Galatasaray in the past.

It was an exciting match. Galatasaray played really bad but still managed to go through in extra time. If I were a Juve fan, I'd applaud the team too, but I'd also be upset thinking about all the chances they missed. They did the hard part by making a comeback, but couldn't do the easy part and finish it.
For the country coefficient, it's good that Galatasaray won. We had fallen far behind recently, now we're starting to recover a bit.

But for the country coefficient, I had to look up where Turkey stands and now I only noticed you have 1 team that goes to UCL and no more playoff qualifiers. That's so bad. I thin I remember the times when you had 2 teams there? It usually was Fener and Gala. Or I might be wrong, but I think you had 2 teams for a long time, but then recently dropped in the ranking.

It's true that in sports usually only the result counts, but as you said, as a Juve fan there is no reason to be upset. It was a great game and nobody gave them a chance after the game in Istanbul. On the one hand I would have liked to see Juve go next stage, on the other hand Gala has been an interesting opponent in those competitions. If you only look on paper you think it is over for them, but playing Gala can be ugly. Grin

Atlanta winning yesterday was a shocking thing especially the goal difference and I was imagining if someone played a single bet on them to win, the odd was really big and it appears the home advantage really help them a lot as it also help Dortmund. I was thinking losing a player like lookman to another team will really affect them but it doesn't look like they lost a player like that. Juventus really messed up in their first leg assuming they drew or won they would have qualified and even yesterday winning was a total waste.
