Honestly I was not expecting such an amazing wins from the Super Falcons that yesterday it was really a delight for me as well, now they have really responded like champions as well, the opening shock was what we did not see coming and it was a big shock for Malawi…and was still trying to believe that the loss was a wake-up call for Malawi, and since then it has been them locking in now…Now I fully understand what it means never to underestimate anyone in this life because you never can tell when the big wins comes your way most times..from their ends and would add that Malawi had the mindset of a champion from the very beginning…still on bigger respect to both teams, both teams tried their possible best but nevertheless there is always a winner….
Egypt were poor. If any thing, it was the fact that they scored Nigeria two goals tht I found surprising and even Egypt found it shocking too because you could see them celebrating the goal as if they had qualified. I heard that the publicity for women's football in Egypt is very poor to the point that's it's not that known so I can feel their pain. Nigeria should learn to stop leaving things to chances so that they can be more feared by opponents.
i have watched same Egypt play against Malawi and though they still lost in that game, they are still a team that are capable of putting up a fight if they get the chance. Cameroon succeeding in winning Mali and Ghana certainly means we are not going to get it easy in this game but as the defending champions, there is no easy way to reclaiming the title again. they have to be ready to go through the hard way before winning as the African champions. at this point, while we still put out eyes at the cup, we have to learn how to face a challenge per time till we destroy all the opponent we have left.

I do not mean to intentionally derail the conversation, however I need to ask, did anyone follow up with the online hullabaloo about the new CAF ranking system that kicked the Zambia out of the tournament?
I wonder if the teams were well aware of this before the start of the tournament.
May online commentators and some supporters of the Zambia have accused CAF of an unfair system.
I think explanation is in the above comments and if you check like two to three pages, you will see them we have discussed them before. Well I have not seen anyone accusing them probably they are abiding on the new rule and before CAF brought the policy out, they would deliberate it with all the football federations and also gave their the new rule booklet to read.

Women's football doesn't get the same love anywhere, not just Egypt. Less funding, less coverage, fewer fans. So when teams like Egypt show up, it is already a win for them. Nigeria looked shaky at first, but that 6 goal game changed the mood. The challenge now is to keep that going and not relax. The hype around that win is good, but they need to show it again in the next match. One big win doesn't make a tournament but consistency does. Also they need to fix that habit of switching off after scoring. Against better teams, that will cost them. The tournament is only going to get tougher from here.
Well said, the statement I bolded is very important because it serves as advice, they have won with big margin, 6goals, good move, very encouraging figure, but continuing doing the same in other matches will be highly appreciated, they should not keep low, this is time to keep the ground running according to the president of Nigeria in one of his comments.
Sincerely the super Falcon's did great, I do not watch them playing but with this result, it means they are one of the big shots in the tournament, there representation is highly commendable, we should be hoping for more of that from them.

I don’t know if the players were made aware of it before the match or tournament but I’m sure for CAF to implement it, they already made the rules available. Most times players and fans don’t go through all rules and regulations we only see them and get to know them when it’s implemented.

The Zambians were not aware of the existence of that cause they jubilated after their win even the Malawians were not aware but maybe it’s a first time 3 teams with same points with H2H as tie breaker.

I already posted the explanations here that I quoted.
<snip>
CAF never stops to disappoint. I was surprised too how Malawi qualified ahead of Zambia. This is an entirely new rule, and thanks for the clarification. Honestly, I don't like it. Whenever there's a tiebreaker, goal difference is a much better parameter in deciding the nation that will qualify than this nonsense CAF came up with.

Cameroon is a strong country when it comes to African football, the game between them and the Super Falcons is going to be a very interesting game of football, but I’m expecting the Nigerian Super Falcons to come out victorious in this game, the Super Falcons haven’t had a very good tournament, they did struggle to qualify for the knockout stages, but I’m sure their performance is going to improve as the tournament continues, they know that a place at the World Cup is guaranteed if they beat the Cameroonians, it’s an old rivalry, but expect Nigeria to celebrate this one, no disappointment from Super Falcons.

Nigeria are behind for the first time and I feel this could have been avoided if Chiamaka Nnadozie had positioned herself well when the free kick was being taken by the cameroonian defender. The Super Falcons will have to do better if they want to play Morocco because with how they are playing, it won't be easy for them except they bounce back in the second half.

It is going to be the end of the road for the Super Falcons because they have not been able to score any goal in the second half to get an equalizer.
Many people already talked about the defensive porousness of the Super Falcons and how Cameroon should be taken seriously. They may have depended on their attack thinking that they will be able to score many goals to compensate for the defense that has been bad, but the cameroonians have played a very physical game that has made it difficult for any of our attackers to find a way through to score.
We had a very good chance in the extra time for Okoronkwo to either pass to Oshaola or go alone, she chose to go alone and missed by some inches. With Super Falcons eliminated and the other winners of the WAFCON in other editions already out, it means this ongoing WAFCON will be having a new winner.

Cameroon just beat the Nigeria 1 nil to advance to the finals. Despite being the better side in the game, the Super Falcons just couldn’t find the back of the net. In my opinion, this is the best performance I have seen from Nigeria so far in this tournament. Today was just one of those games where “football happens”.

I’m not so pained that we lost today, the WAFCON isn’t a big deal for me. After all, Nigeria has won it 10 times. What bothers me is the fact that we needed this win to automatically qualify for the World Cup. Now, we will have to play against other teams that got knocked out of the quarter finals for a place in the World Cup.

Hard luck to the Super Falcons they lost honorably to the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon and we are super proud of them. 10 WAFCON title is not a joke that is a super legacy no one can take away from them. But sometimes, it is okay to let others taste the title once in a while. Cameroon earned their victory today so let them jubilate at the moment. The Falcons should go back home with their heads held up high, rest their body system and come back stronger. I guess now I will stop watching the competition, falcons are the only reason I watch it and since they are out!!! Then no need to stress my eyes in front of the TV

The both sides played excellently well. Nigeria really tried all they could but the early goal put them under pressure and that was where they lost it. The mistake they made during the free kick caused them the match otherwise I believe they would have been able to score more goals if they had not conceded a goal earlier.

As it is now, they had lost automatic ticket to the world cup as they did not win this match and will have to play their way through to get the ticket. Anyways, they already got a track record that no other national team has ever gotten in lifting a continental trophy 10 times. It will be very difficult for any African teams to achieve such fit.

I'm also proud of Super Falcons performance today just that the Cameroon goalkeeper was prepared to frustrate all efforts of scoring that the Super Falcons made, imagine making 9 saves, it shows that our girls were really hungry to get an equaliser but they were just unlucky.

Is there anything wrong if they win more WAFCON? do not worry about their qualification for the world cup because I don't think that will be a difficult task for them. Perhaps, they will use the anger that they didn't get a direct qualification and make sure that nothing stops them from making it through qualifiers matches.

Both side has a good play but Nigeria played better because if both played equally, there's no way statistics will say otherwise, the match stats on ball possession was the super falcons of Nigeria 60, Cameroon women  40, shots on target super falcons 9, Cameroon women 3, I  didn't watch the match but this match stats has proven that Nigeria would've won if they had scored first, although judging by stats made attempts to score but wasn't possible.
We know that falcons have good records but it would've been good if they had won and wouldn't have to struggle to quality for the world cup, I don't like that option sincerely speaking.

You misunderstand me. I never said there was anything wrong with Nigeria winning the WAFCON for the 11th time. Like I said before, they played well but were unlucky. How can you defend against that free-kick from Myriam Nyadjou?

do not worry about their qualification for the world cup because I don't think that will be a difficult task for them. Perhaps, they will use the anger that they didn't get a direct qualification and make sure that nothing stops them from making it through qualifiers matches.
I like your confidence but my point is Nigeria are in a difficult position to qualify for the World Cup. You talk about anger of losing the WAFCON as if the other teams they will be playing against didn’t also get knocked out of the WAFCON.

It was an ignorant mistake from Chiamaka Nnadozie because she was not aware of the right positioning at that time and besides in most times free kick are not even scored from were they blocked but it was unfortunate to see the great super falcon being eliminated from 2026 WAFCON and this victory is the second time Cameroonians are wining super falcon, it was an unexpected elimination from them because we were hoping for change after the group stage challenges. However as they are no more on the game, don't you think is possible that Cameroonians are going to win the WAFCON for the first time?.

We have been batshit from the start of the tournament, so I think this is exactly not the right time to play blame games. We deserved to be knocked out through group stage, I don't even know how we got to escape it but we was lucky. Prior to this fixture  it was my honest opinion and predictions that we will most definitely be knocked out of the competition and look at us. The same set of players for the past few years, maybe it is that time we bring in some hungry players who want to make name for themselves. Congratulations to Cameroonians, they deserved the win.

i have watched same Egypt play against Malawi and though they still lost in that game, they are still a team that are capable of putting up a fight if they get the chance.

I wasn’t able to watch the Super Falcons Against Cameroon match but they lost.. the Super Falcons are now eliminated in the WAFCON quarterfinals for the first time in history, it’s actually a painful loss. So after this loss, they won’t have an Automatic qualification for the Women’s World Cup next year in Brazil, they have to fight for the qualification.

The Semi Finals fixture will be, Morocco against Cameroon and Algeria against Ghana/Malawi.

Ghana against Malawi is in the first half and they’re currently playing a draw, Ghana got the lead but Malawi equalized in the 11th minute.

Nigeria played relatively well in the quarter-finals of the Women’s African Cup of Nations League but I think the team lost their morale after conceding a goal from a free kick in the 19th minute of the match. Indeed that was correct Rivals and neighbours Cameroon started playing aggressively from the start of the quarter-final match but after falling behind in the first half, the Nigerian team started playing efficiently but as we saw, the team was unable to score because the Cameroon goalkeeper saved all the shots. In addition to being champions last season, this team has won the WAFCON competition a total of 10 times, so we thought they might be able to reach the semi-final round this season.

You should note that Cameroon has already qualified for the World Cup by defeating the current champions Nigeria in the quarter-finals of the Women’s African Cup of Nations League accordingly it seems if Nigeria could have defeated Cameroon, they would also have qualified for the World Cup.

If you have been following the game from their first match in the group stage you will understand that the goal keeper is full of errors, Chiamaka Nnadozie couldn't save a free kick that she saw despite not building her wall very well how then do we expect them not to lose?  Truth is that they are not in their best performance in this year's tournament that's why nobody will be surprised that they are eliminated.
Cameroon Women played better football after converted the free kick they made so many errors which the Super Falcons should have utilized to score the Cameroon goal keeper was too active to allow any ball hit the bask of her net, the Super Falcons should come back and they again they need to rebuild the team now.

The girls gave their best, but they could not convert their chances due to how unlucky they are the match, but they played really well and also deserve the finals, but unfortunately, they are out.
They deserve to win the third place because they can’t go without medals with all these great performances they have shown in this tournament, they have represented Nigeria so well as they have been doing for long.
