Cameroon just beat the Nigeria 1 nil to advance to the finals. Despite being the better side in the game, the Super Falcons just couldn’t find the back of the net. In my opinion, this is the best performance I have seen from Nigeria so far in this tournament. Today was just one of those games where “football happens”.

I’m not so pained that we lost today, the WAFCON isn’t a big deal for me. After all, Nigeria has won it 10 times. What bothers me is the fact that we needed this win to automatically qualify for the World Cup. Now, we will have to play against other teams that got knocked out of the quarter finals for a place in the World Cup.

I thought the match between Cameroon and Nigeria in the WAFCON would kick off by 9.00pm I didn't know the match had already kicked off by 6.00pm, I was even about to tune to the channel where I will watch the match before I decided to check the score of the match and I was shocked to see that the match had already finished and Cameroon edged Nigeria 1-0 to advance to the semi final of the WAFCON. After, the Super Falcons thrashed Egypt 6-2, I thought the win would help them get back to their old ways where they defeat their opponents easily but I'm sad they couldn't proceed to the semi finals of the WAFCON, since they now know other countries are improving their performances, they will prepare well and reclaim their title in the next WAFCON.

Let me cease this opportunity to congratulate Cameroon on their victory and secured a finals spot, I wish them the very best at the finals even as they had to knock out my country to get that spot. An Interesting finals this is promising to be.

The girls gave their best, but they could not convert their chances due to how unlucky they are the match, but they played really well and also deserve the finals, but unfortunately, they are out.
They deserve to win the third place because they can’t go without medals with all these great performances they have shown in this tournament, they have represented Nigeria so well as they have been doing for long.

The performance of the Super Falcons today is the best I have seen so far in all the matches they played in the tournament. Cameroon was just lucky to have scored that early first half goal if not the match would have probably finished in draw. I can't say anything bad about the Super Falcons because they gave their all. They should be happy and prepare ahead of the world cup qualifying stages.

Nigeria has been the most winners of this tournament so it will also be good to allow other countries have a taste of the WAFCON so that it doesn't look as if it was made for Nigeria.

I was not pleased with the outcome, and since I knew that Super Falcon gave it their all and defeated Egypt, I was expecting Cameron to have the same faith. However, this was not the case, and since we were eliminated, we must continue to support other teams. Even we did not anticipate the outcome, and since it was only 1:0, it was not as easy as we think in football, which is usually very difficult to predict because I did not expect Falcon to lose that game.

Even before the game, everyone was expecting Nigeria to win, and many of us aren't just happy about losing. I thot things would be different, and let's hope they do better the next time. This isn't the first time they've made us proud when it comes to the falcon because we didn't win the WAFCON this year, but I was expecting because girls are good, and I know they would be hurt. And they will want to do better even next time and  no matter what must have happened I still believe that falcon will always remain one of  the best when it comes to women football in WAFCON.

lol I don’t think it’s fair to say the Super Falcons had many supporters. Judging from the comments on this thread, you can see a huge drop in activity compared to when we were discussing the AFCON or men’s football. Some people here have said women football is not important, uninteresting, or “just for show”. Others cannot honestly say they have watched a WAFCON game live. So forgive me, if I disagree with your statement.

Yes, the girls did their best. Sadly, their best was not enough because winning in such a tournament as comes down to who wants it the most. Those lapses which we discussed in this thread about the team. It is possible that they didn’t work on it, and the Cameroonian team capitalized on that singular mistake to get a win. Well, I would say Congo to the Cameroonian team they are a solid one and I hope they win the tournament.

This particular game actually shows why football as a sport sometimes gives cruel results, yes the super falcons have been poor in this years edition of WAFCON but this game against Cameroon they were actually brilliant in my opinion it was the best football they have played in this tournament. The Cameroonian Goalkeeper was so good today he wasn’t able to be penetrated and it was what actually caused the super falcons to fall short.

The only biggest disappointment from this loss is the World Cup qualification which is currently hanging on the balance. While Nigeria still have a life line through play offs I think that’s way too much as a route. A win today would have sent them to the World Cup finals

Despite the performance of the Super Falcons so far in the AFCON, the title defence came to an end tonight. The Super Falcons failed to equalize a 1-0 lead and lost to the Lionesses of Cameroon in the quarter-final of the women's AFCON. The goal came early in the 19th minute. The Cameroonians capitalized on that opportunity, and their goalkeeper was unbelievable today. It seems the Super Falcons scored all the goals they needed against Egypt. The performance was poor. I couldn't watch the second half.

Are we really going to say football did happen or this is what we do see in the males category not coming down to the female league. The super falcons have beings pride for Nigerians, an asylum of bragging rights when the super eagles don’t meet up with expectations but, they didn’t do us proud today. Here was one game they could win and with the only goal in the game haven’t being scored in the first half, I really did expect that they would by some means manage an equalizer and eventually go for the win but I was wrong, this became their elimination and we’ve got to watch other teams progress hence forth.

I saw it coming; no serious team allowed their players to go Live on social media or make posts while on a tournament. I saw a lot of vids from our girls after the win against Egypt - making contents and shading some fans for their comments. Set of clowns..

I can understand the disappointment myself and that's because the Falcons ain't known to be this but football happened. I watched the game and I can say there were some sort of hard luck for the falcons despite how much they tried to get a goal but couldn't, and addition to the strong defence of Cameroon their goalkeeper was too good with reflexes that she made many saves form shots that could have being goals for the Falcons. 

In about 14 meetings in the WAFCON the falcons have had more victories, especially at this phase of the competition. This time it's just a different outcome for them. Congratulations to the Cameroon ladies.

O,men  that was a big disappointment. Now there is a general question. Who's to blame? The coach or the players? People are saying that it was from the coach and the substitution in the second half was unnecessary. Those too girls were substituted out were very good players and the two substituted in could not do anything. Now South Africa and Nigeria have to play the playoff. Super Eagles didn't qualify in the world cup and again super falcons didn't qualify. TINUBU brought bad luck to the country.

You clearly have not followed up this current edition of the wafcon if not you would not say that they are the most likely to winning this trophy. they were just lucky to have survived to this point but unfortunately, they ran out of luck this time around. of cause, it was not a very bad game to be honest because they really tried though they were not lucky in terms of converting most of their chances.

The Cameroonian goal keeper made all the difference in this game that lead to the defeat of the super falcons if not we would have seen a completely different result. the performance she put up is what you see and call a perfect professional performance. the number of saves she made is enough to give us a three nil victory but unfortunately, she has leaved up to what is expected of her. there is no hard feelings here. it is clearly not our time though the most unfortunate thing about it is that our world cup qualification hope is dashed in the process.

Nigeria are behind for the first time and I feel this could have been avoided if Chiamaka Nnadozie had positioned herself well when the free kick was being taken by the cameroonian defender. The Super Falcons will have to do better if they want to play Morocco because with how they are playing, it won't be easy for them except they bounce back in the second half.

The both sides played excellently well. Nigeria really tried all they could but the early goal put them under pressure and that was where they lost it. The mistake they made during the free kick caused them the match otherwise I believe they would have been able to score more goals if they had not conceded a goal earlier.

As it is now, they had lost automatic ticket to the world cup as they did not win this match and will have to play their way through to get the ticket. Anyways, they already got a track record that no other national team has ever gotten in lifting a continental trophy 10 times. It will be very difficult for any African teams to achieve such fit.

For the first time in a long while, they couldn't bounce back from a loss and it was very evident that the Super Falcons were trying to do damage control but the Indomitable Lionesses were not willing to let this one slip from them. An early goal from a free kick was all they need and a lot of commendation needs to go the keeper of the Cameroonian team, Michealy, who ensured no effort of the Super Falcons disturbed her net.

Cameron only beat Nigeria at the quarter-finals stage, they're still going to play against Morocco in the semi finals which will decide if they make it to the finals stage. Nigeria has not been in good form in this Wafcon and I wasn't expecting much from them. The Nigerian football is in a big mess now and I'm not surprised it's affecting their international performances. I was thinking the ladies were immune to the bad shape of the football federation, but it's telling on them now. I only hope they're able to qualify for the world cup at least. If they're willing, then they should train more because the performance against Cameron wouldn't take them any far in qualifying for the world cup.

The African Super Falcons played brilliantly from the start of the tournament but I think they showed a poor performance in the first half in the glorious match like the quarter final against Cameroon. If the current champions African Super Falcons could have won that match then we think they would have got a direct chance to play in the upcoming Women’s World Cup and would have been able to go to the semi-finals of this WAFCON tournament but the biggest obstacle in front of them was the Cameroon women’s team.

Cameroon became more disciplined in their defense after scoring a goal before the break and as we see it they won 1-0 thanks to the excellent performance of their goalkeeper, so it is conceivable that the African Super Falcons need to be more mature to achieve their goal of winning the title in the upcoming WAFCON tournament.

I think this year's tournament the team lost focus on their goal. Another thing that I can say is that pride took over them as being the AFCON champion for year's which no other team has been able to achieve such fit.
If they were really focused, they would have done less of social media talks while on a mission to lift and defend their title. Since the beginning of this tournament, I've not really seen other African teams on social media, they were just focused on their main target which was wining. Also our girl's undermined their opponents right from start and they were taken unawares tool they lost out of the tournament because they felt it could be like the other previous tournaments they won all through. They forgot that it would not be business as usual for them again.
