Congrats to Cameroon, beating the defending champions to have their way to the next phase of the competition is a huge motivation for the players. The Super Falcons really disappointed this time around, when they had many watchers and supporters, I couldn't believe we would get knocked out so soon. I was surprised with the way it happened, I hoped for more, but that's football, one side must win, and Cameroon were the lucky team.

There is hope, we will get into the World Cup, we can't lose in every aspect, the Falcons are trusted more than the Eagles.
lol I don’t think it’s fair to say the Super Falcons had many supporters. Judging from the comments on this thread, you can see a huge drop in activity compared to when we were discussing the AFCON or men’s football. Some people here have said women football is not important, uninteresting, or “just for show”. Others cannot honestly say they have watched a WAFCON game live. So forgive me, if I disagree with your statement.

Of course their supporters will be very low compare to the men's because mens league triggers interest on everybody while is not the same in super falcon but however I don't think that's what @Obim34 meant by more supporters in the super falcon because he is only doing the comparison within all the women from different countries in Africa and he is right because I would say the same if they ask me because over the years they were able to have a strong reputation and because of that they became more popular than any country women national team so indeed their supporters was many but they couldn't do what they have known them for.

Good point Salahmu, i told a friend that i was going to watch the match between the Super Falcons and Cameroonian women yesterday and she was like "wetin dem wan even play, women go sabi ball? No be just to dey shout, shout for field?" Sounds funny but majority of my gender in our country barely supports the Super Falcons, they prefer watching men's football.

Maybe women in other countries could support their female national team but it's different in my country. Anyway, what's wrong with Nigerian football? Our Men couldn't secure the World Cup, now the Super Falcons that's the recent champions got kicked out of the WAFCON in quarter finals by Cameroon.

It's sad to see our women crashed out of the competition at this stage but it's definitely not shocking to many of us. I personally lost confidence in them after their first two games. Lost the first match and find it hard to win the second match which they narrowly escaped with slight margin. I must confess that my hope was revived after their third game when they won with a huge difference against Egyptian women. They scored many goals in that match even though their performance was not as imp as the goals scored but I gave them the benefit of doubt. It's a different case with our men squad, we already know some of our men players are feeling too big and doesn't want to sacrifice for the national team but these ladies always give their best. Something is definitely not right in their camp but sooner or later, truth will be exposed.

I am not among the many who are sad about it, Nigeria has dominated the competition for a very long time and it is only fair that they eliminated to give way to other teams to win in the competition so that the competition does not become boring for both viewers and other teams that are in it with Nigeria winning it most of the time.

With Nigeria out of the competition it makes it more interesting because the question now becomes who is going to win it?

Morocco, Algeria, Cameroon and Malawi are the teams left in the competition, who do you think will win it?

So you don't know what's wrong right? Although I won't take things too hard on the super falcons because they have been consistent all these years, and sometimes shit happens, they did there best, perhaps their best was not enough but we have pass that stage because there is nothing anyone can do right now.
The country is been affected by bad leadership and it seems like everything is been affected, this might sound so crazy but I just have to say it.
Football in our country is no longer the way it use to be, no motivation, as you pointed out, how many women in Nigeria are even supporting the woman national team.

I was very hopeful before this game against Cameroon. I was confident that the super falcons would win this game, but the reverse became the case. I like it to a product of over confidence. Many people have been complaining that they now do more content than focus on football which is true. I am a lover of women football games and have been following up with the game. I watched all the super falcons game except this last game against Cameroon because I had a tight schedule.
After looking at the Esther Okoronkwo's miss, I was not happy because that was the last hope of Nigeria, a simple pass to Oshoala and Nigeria could have come into the game and possibly win the game. One wrong decision cost the entire thing we celebrated. I hope she understands better and also get her self in order this period when the media is dragging her due to that singular selfish display that cost the team the chance to proceed to the semi final. This is the second time Cameron is beating the super falcons and it's a brutal way of getting their revenge. Congratulations to Cameron, I hope they beat Morocco.

Super Falcon always delivers in the Women African Cup of Nations, winning Egypt 6:2 was a great achievement, our female players fight so hard to win, even with a low fan support. I was reading on paper about their defeat on Egypt, Uchenna Kanu who came in as a substitute, made a solid impact, she scored and also created a penalty opportunity for the Falcons. It's quite a challenge they left the tournament so soon, despite Kanu's promises of doing everything possible to win Cameroon. We all know that the Falcons don't always end up like this, so it's nothing to be sad about, instead they should be applauded for reaching the quarterfinals.

Malawi have reached the semi-finals of the Women’s African Cup of Nations League by defeating Ghana but as we have seen, this team played very well in the group stage matches as they defeated our Nigeria but they lost against Zambia in the last match of Group C but after that they were the champions of that group.

However it is very surprising that Malawi team who are participating in this WAFCON tournament for the first time have qualified for the semi-finals and they defeated Ghana 2-1 despite all the odds with a last minute goal and I can see that they have secured their place in the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup but many of us had predicted that Nigeria women’s team would reach the semi-finals and they would automatically qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Anyway Malawi team needs to prepare properly for the upcoming semi-final match of WAFCON tournament as their opponent will be Algeria in the upcoming semi-final match.

There was no way they wouldn't have lost any match in the tournament, if that was your expectation then you are wrong because even though that the Super Falcons has won the tournament many times, it doesn't mean that they should be undefeated. I know that the defeat they suffered to Malawi was avoidable but it's still football, a team can lose in a match they least expected. There second match of they played was because of an early red card that hindered them from scoring many goals but in the third leg against Egypt, they made no mistake at all which led them to the quarter finals where they were defeated by the Cameroon ladies. One thing I like about the Nigerian ladies is that they are always devoted to give in their best in every of their matches, unlike the men that sometimes feel to big to follow instructions from their head coach.

Cameroon just beat the Nigeria 1 nil to advance to the finals. Despite being the better side in the game, the Super Falcons just couldn’t find the back of the net. In my opinion, this is the best performance I have seen from Nigeria so far in this tournament. Today was just one of those games where “football happens”.

I’m not so pained that we lost today, the WAFCON isn’t a big deal for me. After all, Nigeria has won it 10 times. What bothers me is the fact that we needed this win to automatically qualify for the World Cup. Now, we will have to play against other teams that got knocked out of the quarter finals for a place in the World Cup.
Oh yes as a fan you would be pained even if we’ve won it 10 times or 20 times, a loss is still painful and now they’ll have to fight for a place at the World Cup about 3-4 matches to qualify for the World Cup.

Somehow I think everyone expected this but didn’t want to believe it, the girls were not convincing in their group games, we just thought they would get better in the tournament. It’s now left for the other countries to compete for Glory. Maybe now Morroco can finally have a shot at it, they have the players and the home advantage.

It was a disappointing moment to see that our women are no longer in the competition, they were not good as the use to be previously.
However, I never expected them to lose to the Cameroon women, I just think that luck was not on their side this time because all this years they had been up and doing, I still give it to them as they have been far better than the men who has continued to make us believe that they are not ready to play for nigeria with their minds.
It is unfortunate that the Nigeria national team has become mockery, everything is going in the wrong direction, something has to be done, although I did not say this because our women lost, my reason is that there are many things that are supposed to be put in order and left with me, I will say that our women needed to be celebrated.

I still believe that our women can still qualify for the world cup, they are still one of the best team in Africa. This loss was so disappointing, I. Predicted 3-1 win for the Nigeria woman not knowing that Zambia came  prepared. I still don't know why people were blaming the keeper for not being able to save the free kick. I feel she can save it but , it came unexpected.

Coming to this competition, our women were not in their best form, especially after the opening match against Malawi.  That was when I suspected that this team might not win it this. But never expected it will be against Zambia.

lol I don’t think it’s fair to say the Super Falcons had many supporters. Judging from the comments on this thread, you can see a huge drop in activity compared to when we were discussing the AFCON or men’s football.
You hardly hear people talk about women football here in my country, the only time I see people talk about women football is whenever I visit this thread. People don’t pay much attention in women football because they feel it’s always boring, and they have nothing to watch. Football viewing centers in my area don’t even show their matches, because nobody will watch, they just going to spend to show the match, and they won’t be able to recover the money back.

I don’t always find women football interesting, so I don’t even watch it, and I don’t even place bets on their matches. If it’s men’s football, social media will have been flooded with different people making analysis about matches, and this thread is going to be more active.

One thing about supporting a team that wins serially is you get so used to always celebrating their wins that it becomes so difficult to endure defeats. Coming into this year's WAFCON, Nigeria Super Falcons were the favourites to win it with ease but they failed to win their first game and after narrowly making it to the knockout stages, they were eliminated by Cameroon. I think their elimination was more of a technical issue than players issue. The current coach should be sacked.

Despite the low support, the Super Falcons were expected to win the AFCON when they were still in the competition. Eventually, they were kicked out of the competition we want to start acting as if we never wanted them to win it. I did support them to win, but unfortunately football happened. The better team won between the two teams.

Women's football has gained more attention than in the past, all thanks to internet exposure. Without watching the women play on TV, we do see them on social media.

Calling for the sack of the current coach is not the remedy to the lapses that occurred during the match. Our girl's were too relaxed thinking it will be an easy walk over for them as they forgot that the opponent's too would come prepared than they were before. I was thinking that the first game would awaken the consciousnesses but unfortunately it didn't but rather they made a terrible mistake their last match which cost them their stay the WAFCON. This should teach them a lesson never to feel too relaxed and not underestimate teams till they achieve their course.

I didn't really follow the competition, but I've been able to watch some highlights, but I must say these, the intensity with which mens football comes with cannot be compared to that of the women football. Take for instance in my street, I Noticed nobody came out to even discuss WAFCON, if it was the men's own, it would have been on every ones lip, in fact it was through highlights I watched online that I saw the falcons have been eliminated from the competition, that tells you that people pay less attention to such competition.

I am very disappointed in our girls (Super Wafcon), this is not the performance we expected from them, they have been the best team in this tournament for many years and now they couldn’t even make to another round and got eliminated from group stage, if anyone say that Super Wafcon will be eliminated from the group stage I will not believe because they have been the best team for many years and they keep dominating the competition.

Although is it a game and anything can happen, there are some changes in the game that cause some misunderstanding after our girls got eliminated but that has already passed, I’m proud of them because they have been dominating the tournament for us, I wish them all the best in their clubs and also have a good season after being eliminated from the competition.

It's sad to see our women crashed out of the competition at this stage but it's definitely not shocking to many of us.

The Nigeria Super Falcons has well dominated this tournament over time and getting eliminated at this stage in the competition was not what we anticipated for, but maybe much was not on their side this time to make it to the semifinal of the WAFCON and book their automatic place in the FIFA women World Cup come 2027. Hope is not lost yet as they’ll battle to play in the playoffs in order to book a spot for the World Cup.

My surprise till now is the Malawian female team, I never expected that they’ll come this far without being eliminated from the competition. After their group stage games, they were looking convincing to go further but they’ve proven it more that their journey won’t end in the quarterfinals and boom their place for the semifinals of the WAFCON. I also congratulate them to their first ever participation in the FIFA Women World Cup coming up next year. Until next year, we shall get to see if they can lift the WAFCON trophy ahead of their opponents.

The super falcons has 10 WAFCON to their name, as the team that has dominated the competition for 10 years i believed they are going to win the 2026 WAFCON. However, seeing them being knocked out by Cameroon after their dominance in that game is a thing of
surprise to me, and i must say it is a huge achievement for Cameroon as it is not easy to get through the super falcons in WAFCON, this win will boost them and they might win the WAFCON since they knocked out the 10 times WAFCON winners and the defending champions.
