The CAF Nations cup qualifiers matches just kicked off and nobody is talking about the matches that was played today. I thought this thread is about discussions concerning African football and not only Nigeria.

Anyways, here is the results of the matches that was played today:

DR Congo Vs Equatorial Guinea played 2:0
Sierra Leone Vs Zimbabwe played 2:3
Ivory Coast Vs Ghana played 2:0
Mauritania Vs Central African Republic played 3:1
Tunisia Vs Uganda played 1:1
Libya Vs Botswana played 2:2

Namibia Vs Congo played 1:0

The match that surprised me most was the match between Sierra Leone Versus Zimbabwe because Sierra Leone won the first half with 2:0 only to return back for second half and Zimbabwe equalized and still won. It was really a great comeback by the Zimbabwe team. It's been long I see that kind of comeback.

Nigeria will face Madagascar tomorrow, hope they win that match.

You wouldn't blame most Nigerians that are on this thread, most of the headline news are particularly about things concerning Nigeria so the discussion just goes on about the happenings on the Nigerian sports, however you did a good job by bringing us up to date about most of the games that were played, the Sierra Leone game versus Zimbabwe was really a moment of football that happens once in a while, this goes to tell us that you don't relax your game despite the fact that your leading, but the tough game that I've seen here is the game between Ivory Coast vs Ghana, considering that these two countries are football giant in Africa, I was hoping that  game would have been a draw.

 I was secretly hoping that Ghana will fight back after going 1-0 but it appeared they were no match for Ivory Coast because the victory was too resound and absolute the moment the second goal came in. Of the 8 games played today, y recorded wins and it's not a surprise either that Cameroon and Dr Congo went through their opponents easily. Good first game, and I'm hoping we'd see more exciting action tomorrow.

Cameroon and DR Congo were no match for their opponents. They exhibited a good performance that saw them through to the World Cup. More action will be coming in tomorrow especially the game of Nigeria vs Madagascar and also the game of Mozambique vs Senegal. From the two games mentioned, it is very clear that Nigeria and Senegal has the better chance for a victory over other match ups that I think will be a bit intensive.  More actions from the Africa Cupmof Nations round 1 games, this is going to be a competitive one once again.

The question that remains now is how soon can Osimhen pick up form after a long time out?

Teams are not clueless, everybody knows Osimhen is an injury-prone player, even the internet can tell you for free.

How to know class, whenever Osimhen returns from injury, he doesn't pick up from a bad start. Once he is cleared by the doctors and considered fit to play, expect the best from him. Galatasaray without Osimhen will have a terrible season, both in the Champions League and domestic league.

If I get you clearly,you mean that Osimhen is faking his injury simply because he doesn't want to play for the super eagles? If this is what you meant,you might be right and I also understand your pain and why you are angry with him,come to think it,why now is he injured when he is needed the most? It will be so disheartened if after this competition,he recovers instantly and is seen playing for Galatasaray. Had the been Victor Osimhen is faking his injury as you want people to believe he would have played Galatasaray game against Trabzonspor on 19th of this month because he is an important player for Galatasaray and Galatasaray head coach will not rest him when he is fully fit for action. Victor Osimhen was injured when the super eagles were playing their world cup qualifying games which was one of the causes the super eagles did not qualify for the 2026 world cup, and now that Nigerian are playing their qualifying games for the African cup of nations Victor Osimhen is also injured, but i am hopeful what happened in the world cup qualification will not happen in the African cup of nations qualification, because Victor Osimhen will be ready to play for the super eagles in the next phase of the African cup of nations qualifiers.

Victor Osimhen has passion playing for the super eagles if maybe he isn't playing with he full mind with the team could be as a result of the incompetent government we have in the country, i have watch Osimhen played several times, he always play with all seriousness while other players fails to put in same effort that Victor Osimhen is putting to make sure that super eagles go far in any competition they are playing. I wouldn't blame Osimhen if he is not putting same effort now but I will blame the NFF.

In time of faking injuries i don't think Victor Osimhen is those players that do fake injury just to avoid playing some certain games he wouldn't fake it and allow Galatasaray to be losing matches.

No dear, don't make false statement out of emotions, Osimhen was really injured that's why he couldn't participate in the World Cup qualifiers, i could remember that it was against Rwanda and he had to be out for the rest of the tournament not like he faked it from the beginning, i know we really needed him then but it wasn't his fault.

 If there's any player thar has really helped the Nigerian team then Osimhen is one, stop with your wrong narrative of him faking injuries as if you don't know he's injury proone despite his quality. You can do your research if you doubt to see the amount of times he's suffered injury for both club and country.

He will definitely found fit to play for his Club side when these matches are over, is this not enough reason for Nigeria to groom a replacement for victor Osimhen, are we going to continue like this, his club needs him and we know this pattern already, we are use to to players doing this, just as I said earlier, victor Osimhen is a very good player, we know, but it will be a problem for the nigeria super eagles if he retire from football when they have no replacement, one player should not be the only hope of a team, we had he's injured, believe it or not, he's injured, no one will force him to do otherwise, we are free to think anything, but he needs to keep securing a place in his club side, and we know how important he is in Galatasaray, the respect he commands there, I think he has his reasons, if people's suspicion is true.

Do you think Nigeria have not started grooming player before on that position?, since the coach started he has been aiming to have more player like him but since then non have been able to portray Osimhen performance but for the club side is easy to replace him because their are players that could be more than him from other clubs so with signing they can get somebody better but we wouldn't say the same thing in our national team because apart from his teammate the only place they could get other players are the sub leagues we have so actually there is nobody that will occupied his position that he is not going to bench when he recovered.

Some minutes into the first half game and everything was actually going fine until Madagascar stunned Nigeria with a header goal and the visitors had now taken the lead, NGA 0-1 MAD.

Nwabali, Iwobi, Chukwueze, Ndidi, Ademola Lukeman, and quite a few other notable Super Eagle gifted players are present in the game. I'm wondering why we conceded this early. I'm a little disappointed with our team right now, over a team they should win with a clean sheet.

I just decide to watch the match at the 35th minute, I saw 1-0, I was surprised because the Super Eagles of Nigeria were the host and they have good and quality players almost three times more than that of Madagascar, but I can see that the players have improved in their performance, and it’s just lead to a goal now; the Super Eagles of Nigeria have equalized the game just in the added time before the second half. With this performance, I think the Super Eagles of Nigeria can win this match because the only goal Madagascar scored is like a lock due to defensive error and we know how free header goals are, they are hard to defend. It’s now 1-1.

I can't really believed that Nigeria allowed Madagascar to scored them. I wanted to place a bet on straight win for Nigeria in this game. I was thinking that Nigeria will beat them with not less than 5-0 and from what I am seeing here. What happened in 2025 World Cup Qualifiers might repeat itself again. Because Madagascar is not a strong team for Nigeria to draw or has a slide win.

I am speechless on this.

Though Nigeria struggled to equalized the first half before the match end. I still have the instinct that Nigeria will still win the match but that is only if they serious and ply like the die minutes of the first half.

I'd love it if Nigeria dominated their games and stopped allowing their opponents see any goal. It's halftime now and the score line is 1-1 thanks to George Ilenikhena's late equalizer. Nigeria were the dominant side in terms of shots but Madagascar just need one on target to take the lead for the better part of the first half. I'm hoping that it will be a more result oriented second half where the Super eagles will not just dominate shots and possession but also win the game.

There are some African teams that Nigeria shouldn't allow them to score but they never disappoint to do give away goals. This is why i like Morocco because it's difficult for a mediocre African team to score them, sometimes even when they meet a strong African team they will make sure they win by clean sheet or they end in a goalless draw but here is Nigeria conceding to Madagascar. They should thank their stars that they equalised the score. They should better come back stronger in the second half and win Madagascar with the least 3:1 result because even if they win 2:1, I won't see it as a good result considering the fact that Nigeria is way stronger.

It shouldn't come as a disappointment to you at this point in time, this is because this super Eagles have an antecedent, they've not been too impressive lately, so my trust on them has been hanging on the balance scale ⚖️. I told somebody on this thread that Madagascar should not be seen as underdogs like that, because the super Eagles you would want to bank on their victory have a lot of lapses, so I would rather sit on the fence in most of these super Eagles games except I see an exceptional team, because some of these African countries that were not too popular about football are becoming increasingly strong in their football presence recently, however let's see how the second half will go, if the super Eagles will come out triumphant.
