It's just that Brazil has lost its identity and moved closer to a European style of football that doesn't represent them.
They've just lost the Jogo Bonito style that they've always been proud of. The last player who had this style was Neymar, which is why he was called "The Last Jogo Bonito." After that, most Brazilian players nowadays have been influenced by a more modern European style of football. This shift has made their game more structured, but they've lost their creativity, which used to be their trademark. Honestly, it's kind of a shame, but anyway, I guess that's just how their football evolves.
Football is just reflecting what happens in a globalized world: everything becomes the same. It may sound stupid but when you go to a different continent and you see the same stores, the same brands, the same food, the same fashion you find back home, it's kind of sad. The same thing happened with football. Brazil had a clear and unique style of playing, they lost it copying the European teams that are more practical. It's a shame.

Sure, it's easy to stop a team with Rivaldo, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, right? Everybody knew how they played and yet nobody was able to stop them. Do we want to talk about individual players? Let's mention one of the most predictable one, Robben: always the same move, cutting inside from the right wing onto his preferred left foot, everybody knew that, and yet very few were able to stop him.

Brazil completely lost its soul, it's no coincidence that since 2002 their World Cup performances have been a disaster.

After the 2002 World Cup win, the Brazil team started to weaken. At that time, the greatest players like Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Roberto Carlos were in the Brazil team. Almost all the players in the Brazil team were iconic players. After that their squad gradually started to weaken. They did not dominate their game as they used to. Now the Brazil team does not have such a good players from defense to striker, as before. In the case of Neymar I will say that as a star of Brazil, he could not perform very well in his career. Although he had many injuries in his career. But the way the players held their position and showed their performance as Brazilian start in the past, it cannot be seen in Neymar. And since the 2014 World Cup, Brazil has not been seen as such an aggressive and strong team. I will not say that the Brazil team does not have good players now. I think that it will be possible to produce a good performance in the future with those who are not at team.

What you said is just the obvious truth, because for the past roughly two decades, since Messi started his football career in 2005 and when he joined the national team, the Argentine team has been playing under the influence of Lionel Messi, and if he retires, it'll definitely take them roughly two years to become a stable and formidable team again because looking at the team now, there's no Agüero or Di Maria, who can shoulder the Argentine team without the presence of Lionel Messi.
This is definitely true. I am eager to see Messi retire from playing in his national team so that, we can confirm if truly his absence will be a disaster to the team during that period of not, because some people are saying that Argentina have other players to move the team forward.

Messi is their backbone and you can imagine, what will happen if he retires. It will take them time to balance the team performance again.
Losing a big players is always been a distraction for team. The departure of Messi will be absolutely nightmare for Argentina because he was the only man to rescue his team in every single situation like he was just the plugin of midcore. Most often we see build start by him and finished by him and sometimes the opponent triggered it for spot. So form last two decades he was carrying his team in every situation. So definitely his absence will bring up some buffer in terms strength......

I know many of you will be arguing that Argentina have legacy of good players. After Maradon they meet Messi and after Messi they seek someone else or blah blah blah. But here I will tell you something more. Brazil was the hub of talent but til now they never produce a players who can help his team to win the title from last 15 years even Neymar was considered great but he got flop and still they are feeling the lack of strong players.

So similarly Argentina will never be able to produce a players like Messi
It is natural to doubt whether Argentina can produce another player like Messi. But how can you be so sure so quickly that Argentina cannot produce another player like Messi? I do not understand. You have raised several important points about Messi, which are certainly true. But Argentina's success was not influenced by just one player or an assist, but Argentina has improved a lot due to the efforts of everyone. Of course, Messi's contribution was probably greater. So, if Messi leaves, some changes may come to Argentina. But when we say that Argentina is weak without Messi, it will not be logical. Because we saw in 2025 how Messi and Lautaro Martinez defeated Brazil 4-1 despite the absence of two important players.

Sometimes we really overdo it by saying that losing a big player on the team will affect the team as a whole, even though every team doesn't just rely on one player but has 11 players where the whole team has to work together. It's true that a player like Messi has a big influence on the team because he is indeed a talented player, but we also can't deny that Argentina is not short of talented players. Losing a big player will affect the team but for me it won't last long.

Sometimes players like Messi and Ronaldo who are no longer young can actually hamper the development of other players on the team because the game isn’t as free flowing, with the focus being on passing to their star players. Now if we look at how Portugal and Argentina play when their stars are not around, their game is more fluid and less pressured, so they can easily win matches. The next World Cup is still quite far away, so I think Argentina will still be a favorite for the next tournament especially since they're also one of the countries hosting it.

The void of Messi will definitely affect Argentina and finding a replacement for Messi will definitely be a very difficult task for Argentina. But if we continue to see such a good relationship and mutual understanding between the team as it is now, then the void of Messi will definitely not be felt by the Argentina team very much. Because Cristiano Ronaldo is a very good player, but we have seen a good relationship between their team which has created a lot of influence on the field. That is why we can hope that if they can maintain this relationship between them, then we will definitely see something good.

It's a little odd to me seeing Brazil play a friendly against India, out of all the countries that are available. Then again, Europe has the Nations League, and none of the non-European teams play anything similar. Now that's a problem—they need to find some sort of game for friendlies, but the picking pool is now cut by more than half. It's a stupid and funny situation at the same time.

If your traditional teams keep that old style, they might be out of football.

It is not at all a matter of the team's style ("plans"), but rather of who executes it. Without qualified performers, you won't be able to play tiki-taka, cattenacho, or anything else. The set of available game strategies or plans even depends on the caliber of the players. The fact is that Brazil is no better than any other mid-tier national team and is not a contender against top teams. If you compare the squad and don't be fooled by big names like Neymar and Casemiro, of whom only the brand remains, then Brazil doesn't even look much stronger than Norway, and it's no surprise that Norway beat them at the World Cup. And I haven't heard that Norway's style was somehow better than Brazil's style  Wink

I agree that there are enough talented players in the Argentina team, but we have to understand why Messi is different from them. Messi is a player whose presence in a match means that the playing structure and confidence of the entire team changes. Just to stop him the opponent's defense and the entire team's planning have to change. But ultimately it is not possible to stop Messi. The way Messi understands the opponent weakness throughout the match and scores assists or goals, is not possible with any other player. That is why even if other players score goals but assists of Messi are given more priority. It is not possible for any player in Argentina to be equal of messi now. As long as Messi is playing football no one will be able to beat Messi now. when Messi will completely retire club football to  then new players will start to come to the fore in Argentina. The media will focus on them create hype about them, and then those new icons will be discussed. Even then the way Messi has created an impact in matches other players may not be able to do it so easily.

Brazil has completely lost what it once was, and that's a shame, because the Brazilians have made many mistakes. For example, Ancelotti is very good, but he won't bring back the players of the past. He only works with stars. I would say he shouldn't be there anymore and they should look for a Brazilian coach. And for Brazil not to end up forgotten, it has to do something urgently: go to the favelas and start looking for talent, starting with the children, reviewing every academy and looking for the players who are very good, without fear of making extraordinary plays, and start encouraging them.

Brazil completely lost its soul, it's no coincidence that since 2002 their World Cup performances have been a disaster.
Should we attribute this fall to the fact that they politicized the football and stopped allowing real talents get into the squad, but those with connections?
Clearly the standard of Brazilian football is a disgrace to what existed until 2002.

Even in my country, we did better in the early days when players were selected based on real talent, we've become more of a disaster as politics and corruption proceeded the selection of players and sports sector receiving little to no funding.

This year's fifa world cup tournament should have seen Joao Pedro called up instead of Neymar Jr, but what happened?! The same things that should be stopped. Also I feel like players who are in Spanish La Liga and their various home based Brazilian players should be picked ahead of the next tournament. Rebuilding and repairs take time and with Carlo Ancelotti, they will most definitely get that repair and rebuild. I one time read that Cafu's comments of their football being substandard, I thought that to be exaggerated until I looked deep enough. For a player who won multiple fifa tournament, he wasn't capping.

Brazil completely lost its soul, it's no coincidence that since 2002 their World Cup performances have been a disaster.
I don't know what the point is of such useless friendly matches. Also, let's not forget that for the next World Cup we have Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay that are automatically qualified since they are going to host some matches, so they are going to play qualification matches that for them are basically useless, I wonder what kind of motivation they can have in this case.

Brazil has lost its rhythm and when we talk about Brazil, we think of old faces. So I agree with your statement, they should strengthen the scouting network of grassroots football across the country, provide good coaching and do their best to enhance the individual skills and creativity of young players and develop young talent without wasting it. And my opinion about Ancelotti is that he is an experienced coach but he should be considered after reviewing their past history when Brazil became five-time world champions.

Does Brazil lack star players? No. They don't lack star players and they don't lack talent, but somehow the talent of the players is lost when they come to the national team. You look at players like Rafinha, Vinicius Junior, Gabriel, Alisson Becker, Ederson, Marquinhos, Casemiro, Gabriel Martinelli and Matheus Cunha. They are all key players in their respective clubs, but their performance in the national team is very bad. I never think they lack talent, rather these players lose their talent when they come to the national team. If every player can carry the performance of club football to the national team, then winning the World Cup will not be a difficult task for them. I think there is a problem in the understanding of the players.

Brazil has been mired in a slump regarding both performance and results for a very long time.
They won their last World Cup title in 2002, and given that the next tournament is scheduled for 2030, Brazil will have waited at least 28 years—nearly three decades—for another title; something that has never happened in their magnificent footballing history.
Interestingly, during this same period, Argentina—their main South American rival—reached the final three times and won one World Cup title with Messi in the squad.
The question arises: why can't Brazil find its own Messi, a player capable of leading them to the title?
What happened to Neymar?
Brazil once boasted an abundance of footballing talent and stars, but where have they all gone?
Unfortunately, Brazil has become an average team with a glorious past.

They lost the rhythm quite alright but they are still they still have good quality players every year. I think if everything should work fine they are good enough to compete with every other team. In fact their squad has good quality to face each top teams but somehow they are just not able to play well as expected. I wouldn't say the problem is the coach but they are just not blending well due to some hidden reason unknown.

The problem is even if players are scouted from the grass roots it will be difficult to use them ahead of players with more exposure and experience. And if the coach manages to do that and it doesn't work out well we are still the one to criticize him for not using a more experienced and exposed players.

When a team continues in one style, other teams can easily understand their strategy and countermeasures, resulting in a victory for the weaker team against the stronger team.

I think his focus is more of a teams performance than that of individual players, no matter who is in a team as long as the team has a playing pattern it's can actually be counterd, but it's a different case for individual players it is different.

A team plays with patterns and it's easy to counter, but individual players have different styles of play and skills, and even if it seems to look the same there are different levels of executing those skills in terms of explosiveness, direction, situation etc.

I never say that Argentina success was only influence by Messi. So zip your mouth and don't clinch the accusation..... Besides that I will tell you something more. Now tell me from the last two World Cup tournament who is the top of the list to contribute the team in every single aspects wether it's in individual performance or leadership ethic. Simply you will found one man behind the all cover "Messi". So now I would not be worng if I told here that 70% influence was built from Messi in entire squad because if we look at Tena sheet then probably we can clearly see it that he is all above in all POV.

So that's why i told here that Argentina will never produce a players like him even near to him. I am not saying that Argentina will not make any thing without Messi but the things which Messi used to do alone now the entire team will have to do togetherly

That’s the only difference.
Got it..... Smiley
