Lamine yamal's father is something shameful, and afterwards I'm not surprised if discontent grows against him in Spain, they insult him not because he is Moroccan, therefore not because of racism, but because he is a truly irresponsible and truly shameful person, now lamine yamal must detach himself from his figure if he doesn't want to end up like him.
I don't think Lamine will end up like his dad. The thing is, his dad has never seen so much money, so many comforts. He might have a superiority complex that makes him act this way, but I don't think it's harmful. If he says things, we shouldn't make a big deal out of it. It won't affect how well his son plays football.

Lamine knows what his father is like, and I imagine he accepts him as he is. I imagine he doesn't pay much attention to it anymore. But the one I find funny is Lamine's little brother. He's very funny. I think Lamine loves his brother very much, and that makes him forget some of his father's crazy things.

I agree!

The criticisms about his father is true, but come on... this is something individual and, lets be honest even though he deserves this "reputation" everything is amplified simply because he is the father of a famous player.
But, I also think it is exaggeration say that Lamine needs to distance himself so as not to end up like your father... I think he can maintain a relationship with your father and at same time have his own opinion, have clear boundaries and not repeat his father's mistakes... a son is not a copy of your father.
I think it is more sensible to point out what he did wrong instead of turning everything into a judgment of character.

Anyway... Lamine is bigger than his father, he would not make the same mistakes.

I don't think that Ronaldo is less than Messi because he wasn't able to win the World Cup, Messi won it because he plays in a very high level team and Argentina allowed him to always be at the top and express all of himself, but Portugal is not at Argentina's level and despite everything they still managed to win a European Championship.
It does not. As a matter of fact both players have made significant successes in their various careers ensuring they outlive almost all the records if not all which have been kept by previous stars. He is already on his journey to achieve a Guinness world record of the most plenty goals or as we know highest goal scorer in the history of football ever liveth. Messi is also behind him on this one but Messi also has the highest Assists ever recorded in the history of football too. So these two guys are not in competion with one another but with the records being broken by them.

There is something you are not saying, everyone want to win the world cup just like other international leagues but when it comes to this World cup, it is personal and you know why. People didn't give too much attention on World cup because they never expected it and they use it to attack Messi for years, more than a decade until he won it in 2022 and it became a shame to them. The Ronaldo fans didn't have what they used to troll Messi for years and Ronaldo feels bad about it.

That's false. Stress and frustration are build around when you don't know when to quit. Ronaldo is 40 years plus, look at the way walk now, look at how he played in the field, everything looks force. You can't expect what was working in 2008 to be the same in 2026, these are the things that is making him fall apart and this is killing his legacy. Do you see how frustrated when he left the Portugal camp, he think he still has it but no, he doesn't have anything left to give Portugal.
Ronaldo individually is many times greater than Messi.

World Cup is not an individual achievement.

There are 3 strongest leagues in the world: English, Spanish and Italian. Ronaldo at some points in his career was the best player of each of them. Messi on the other hand, embarrassingly failed even in a second-tier French league.

Individually you simply cannot compare them. Messi would need to do at, let's say Chelsea and Inter what Ronaldo did at Man United and Juventus to be on the same level of greatness as him.
Football is very subjective, for me all these discussions about who is the best between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are useless because each person can have his own opinion and everybody can choose the statistics they prefer to back up their preference. I simply think we have been very lucky to have witnessed such incredible rivalry for so many years.

Then one person can say Messi won the World Cup, another one that Ronaldo won in 3 different leagues, etc etc, what does it matter? Each football era has their best players, Messi and Ronaldo will be both part of theirs.

I agree with you.
Not only will someone always think that Messi is the greatest footballer of all time, and someone else that it is Ronaldo, but many older fans will choose Maradona, Pele, Eusebio, Puskas etc. for the best footballer of all time
Such a discussion is pointless and can go on forever.
Maybe, instead, we should return to the topic of this thread and start discussing the 2030 World Cup?  Cheesy
What do you think?
Do you think that Argentina without Messi and probably Portugal without Ronaldo can be competitive in the next World Cup?
Or will the main favorites be France with Mbappe and Spain with Yamal again?

It does not. As a matter of fact both players have made significant successes in their various careers ensuring they outlive almost all the records if not all which have been kept by previous stars. the successes are the result of incredible work that has led them to play at a very high level for a very long time, and it must be recognized to these players that the competition has reached an incredible level, bringing Ronaldo even to the 1000 goal mark, unthinkable for any footballer in the modern era, these guys are incredible point.

I personally don't want to disrespect any player and such actions do not befit anyone. At one time, when I watched the prime Ronaldo play, his speed, jumping, free kicks and inside the box seemed like the most terrifying and goal machine. But there is a lot of difference between the current Ronaldo and the prime Ronaldo. Which their fans aren't mentally ready to accept even if they see it with their eyes. His fitness, creativity, consistency and goal scoring skills are certainly world class and the best of the best but his desperation to record and personal wrong decisions are making him very controversial. It may be possible for him to score 1000 goals, which may be a new record in his record books but Ronaldo will remain what he is now, only there will be a lot more criticism about him. A player's retirement is never disrespectful, every player should remember this.

That's what I always tell everyone who keeps debating about who is better, whether it's Messi or Ronaldo – I say you guys will never reach a draw because when one says Ronaldo has the best individual achievements, the other will definitely come back with what Messi has achieved, and that makes the debate endless. Even funnier, some people even fight over this.

Football is meant to be enjoyed, not to become a reason for endless arguments. In the end, everyone has their own view on who is the best, and we can't force our opinion on others. We just need to respect other people's choices and be grateful that we live in a generation where we can witness some of the greatest players in football history. It's something we should appreciate rather than argue about.

I hold a similar view and have never really cared to understand those who like to argue about football it simply doesn’t interest me. Instead, I prefer to focus on the game itself: the beautiful moments, the individual skill of the players things I want to experience firsthand, without the influence of others' opinions along with all the other reasons why people love the sport. I do understand that many enjoy debating football; in Latin America, for instance, it’s a vital part of society, so if that’s what they want to do, let them have their spirited discussions. At the same time, I also recognize that the era of Messi and Ronaldo has come to an end, and new stars will take their place. That actually excites me it’s truly fascinating to watch the rise of a new generation of young, emerging talents.

People will keep arguing it but the truth is that they are both exceptional players and both have exceptional careers and I will say they both have attained the GOAT status of football so no one is less regardless of what they win or couldn't.
Messi won the World Cup, every other player have won it, it's just a competition and there are several players who weren't lucky to win it because they  are from a country with average players.
I think Argentina and Portugal are almost the same level, the only difference is that Argentine players serve and play for Messi but that's something Portugal lacked and it's why they Just couldn't perform well at the top level.

I’m really interested to see how the Portugal and Argentina national teams will adapt following the departures of Messi and Ronaldo. I think things will turn out just fine these teams will prove they can hold their own, and might even perform better in certain situations. With so much attention focused on them, the new players—and the squads as a whole will be eager to show what they’re truly capable of. It would be pretty funny if these two teams ended up meeting in the final, lol.

Portugal already started to practicing to play without Cristiano Ronaldo in the team for a couple of matches, but for the Argentina team, No doubt, Messi absence will highly be felt than that of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Argentina team, because the role of Lionel Messi in the Argentine team would be hard to be replaced, and it will definitely take Argentina some years to actually start to play without feeling the Absence of Lionel Messi in their team. But I hope they rebuild so fast.

Portugal can easily move on following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. This is because his impact on the team has diminished over the years. Gonçalo Ramos has taken over his position (although he is not in thesame class as Ronaldo at his prime). Messi absence will affect the performance of the national team as he was still very productive. Argentina wanted to retire Messi's number 10 jersey because of his impact. Meanwhile, Ronaldo's number 7 jersey has been temporarily given to Rafael Leão.

Do you think that Argentina without Messi and probably Portugal without Ronaldo can be competitive in the next World Cup?

They will still be a strong opponent. But the situation of the two teams will not be the same then. Look at Argentina in particular, they have already proven that they have the ability to defeat their big opponents without Messi. Argentina won 4-1 against Brazil in that match of the 2025 World Cup qualifiers without Messi. They even beat Uruguay 1-0 before that. I present these two results here because they are important to me. This result shows that Argentina is not dependent on just one player. Players like Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez and Alexis Mac Allister in their team can play a significant role in the future of the team.

It might be a little difficult for Portugal. Because I have not seen any of their recent matches where they won a match without Ronaldo. Perhaps in the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup, Portugal defeated Switzerland 6-1.

the successes are the result of incredible work that has led them to play at a very high level for a very long time, and it must be recognized to these players that the competition has reached an incredible level, bringing Ronaldo even to the 1000 goal mark, unthinkable for any footballer in the modern era, these guys are incredible point.
Hardwork is a really big factor in these player’s life but i dont think it’s only hardwork, if it was only hard work that made you a good player then we would have had plenty of messis and ronaldos but with hardwork its also luck, and talent. It’s true that a person that has only talent cant shine also, but it’s true for the hardworking one too. A person with talent that works hard will always outdo a person that works very hard but has no talent. So sometimes its about luck and talent too

Yes, playing football is a matter of personal preference but here we are getting into arguments about our favorite players which is actually pointless but people express their love in the arguments. Many people are seen loving their favorite players in such a way that we cannot imagine. Many players will come in the future but we will miss players like Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo a lot because they were the best in their respective places.

If we consider only the total number of goals it will not be possible to judge who has performed better between Messi and Ronaldo. Messi has participated in fewer matches than Ronaldo. That is why Messi has fewer goals. But if we calculate the ratio of goals per match, Messi will definitely be ahead of Ronaldo. On the other hand Ronaldo has scored many more goals from penalties than Messi. But if we calculate non-penalty goals, Messi will be ahead of Ronaldo. On the other hand, if we calculate free-kick goals, Messi is ahead of Ronaldo with 76 goals. If the world cup is excluded, Messi will still be ahead of Ronaldo. Even if we calculate the Ballon d'Or, Messi has won the Ballon d'Or more times than Ronaldo. If Messi and Ronaldo had the same number of matches, then Messi's number of goals would definitely be more than Ronaldo.

I just wonder why fans of both players keeps bantering themselves on who is better between Messi and Ronaldo. Those two players gave us premium entertainment in football for close to 20 good years, ain't we supposed to be grateful that injury didn't spoil their career and we are able to enjoy their masterpiece for this long? This is something that has never happened in football where 2 players maintained rivalry for decades without their talents fading away so it shouldn't matter who played in different leagues, who won the world Cup, who won the most Ballon d'Or and all that because all what we are supposed to be talking about is reflecting on how both players made us feel. Even though I enjoy most of Lionel Messi dribbles but it doesn't mean I don't appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo's goalscoring prowess and skills too.

Like the only thingd Ronaldo is better than messi are directly related to the games he has played, more goals= more games played, more hattrick = more games player, more penalties = more games played/penalties taken. So i dont think ronaldo is better than messi at a considerable stat. I dont know why people even prefer Ronaldo over messi as the GOAT because you can like ronaldo for other things but strictly football, messi clears ronaldo big time

Messi has only a slightly higher goal-scoring efficiency compared to Ronaldo since you're judging from the games vs goals scored angle. It's also worth noting that not everyone is going to like the same thing because people will always have preferences. Why would anyone want tobe a fan of Middlesbrough FC in England Championship or Getafe in Laliga and not just be fans of PSG or whatever is the best team in the world? It's because it doesn't work that way. There are things that Ronaldo does better than Messi and vice versa.

I don't like to get into these GOAT debates because it's just pointless. Both players are great players and it'd do everyone alot of good if they just appreciate that both players played in our own generation and pushed each other to greatness.

That's true, they're very different teams, they have different strengths, and the way Argentina protects Messi is enviable compared to how the Portuguese national team treats Cristiano. That's the reason Portugal isn't a world champion. There are other variables that come into play when it comes to preferences, but that's stretching things. It's better to say things from the most objective perspective possible, but with reason based on what we all see.

The arguments between fans of both teams will have many points, but what needs to be said is that Messi has a World Cup, Cristiano doesn't, but they're completely different worlds.
