you just spoilt your initial statement by the last statement you made. opportunity don't come all the time if not the likes of Vini jnr and even victor osimen that once made it to the top of the ballon d'or ranking would have been part of this years discussion.

No one should have any debate about this year's Ballon d'Or. Because the deserving award has been won by a deserving person. I had doubts about Mbappe's name, because the Ballon d'Or is not only evaluated on personal achievements. That is true because both players are still young and have many years left in them to play. They are also playing for two of the best teams in the world hence they will always have plenty of opportunities for them to win the Ballon d'Or and Harry kane is getting older and in his last stages of his careers. Kane had one of his best season last year both in terms of individual performance and trophies more than Mbappe both at club and country. Higher than the best players of a UCL winning club..... while all he did the whole season was playing holiday soccer in Florida and scoring a few goals against weak teams in the early stages of World Cup.

Yeah the part that olise is left out of the top five also bugs me. But the thing is, I believe that a lot of voters prefer to go for the names they already know, so someone who blew up on one season tend to be overlooked even when he’s obviously setting more records on the pitch.

I believe Kane deserves the position he got because that dude has been consistent for years. But saying he’s England’s greatest player ever doesn’t sit well with me. I think you've a solid point. When it comes to age, Mbappe is still 27 while Kane is already 33, so he has more chances. I believe Mbappe's inability to secure a trophy last season and they're world cup disappointment played an important role in his missing the Balon d'or. Better luck for him this season. I don't think I have watched any Balloon d'Or ceremony that lasted this long, I was thinking It was the usual thing when latest 2100 hours GMT everything is done and dusted. I was following up online and it got to a point were I was agitating for the winner to be announced. I waited past that time and I'm not seeing anything, an hour later, nothing still. I agree with you. Mbappé still has plenty of time on his side, and at 27, he has several more years to compete for the Ballon d’Or. His lack of major trophies last season, along with France’s World Cup disappointment, definitely hurt his chances. But with Real Madrid finding their rhythm and Mbappé continuing to perform, I think his chances will keep improving.
And I’m also genuinely happy for Kane. He has worked incredibly hard throughout his career, and seeing him finally receive the recognition he deserves is well deserved. It’s a great reminder that persistence and consistency eventually get rewarded.
