Based on the official statement from eXch (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=577207.msg65286839#msg65286839)

The shutdown of the eXch was not executed by a domain registrar at the direct request of law enforcement, but rather was a voluntary closure by the exchange's own management in response to overwhelming legal and enforcement pressure from international authorities.

Furthermore, eXch emphasizes that it does not want to operate "where we are viewed as criminals" and stresses its ideological commitment to privacy and decentralization, not illicit activity.

Note: There is no evidence in either the official statement or the news coverage that the domain registrar executed a takedown at the direct request of law enforcement.

What you're saying is completely useless, and I don't understand why you're responding. Yes, that's what they stated in their official statement, but I mentioned the status of their domain. They had no reason to take down one domain while leaving others online, especially their main domain. According to the status I provided, which you can see by looking up the WHOIS, the domain status is 'clientHold.' You can find out what that means on Google. Therefore, their domain was likely taken down by a third party, probably at the request of someone else. If that even matters anymore.

If you think what I’m saying is useless, that’s your opinion, but I’m here to share facts not here to argue with you and clarify the situation based on verifiable information. Ignoring these points won’t make the truth disappear.

Also, i want to highlight that the person behind the attacks and spreading false abuse reports-linked to anir0y-scams.info has been using multiple alt accounts on Bitcointalk to spread misinformation and damage eXch reputations. It’s possible you might be one of those accounts, given the tone and your reply here.

ClientHold Does Not Always Mean Law Enforcement Action:
While clientHold can be set due to legal requests, it’s also used for other reasons (e.g., payment issues, policy violations, or at the registrant’s request). Without direct evidence or a statement from the registrar, it’s hard to say definitively that it was law enforcement-driven.

This is a picture I got from their .onion link.

It seems like they don't accept new orders (at least not for BTC/XMR).

There is only one day until the deadline anyways. They will close their exchange tomorrow. Interestingly, I don't see that notification on my end.
I tried to initiate two test swaps. The first one was bitcoin to tether and the second one was bitcoin to ethereum. As you can see, eXch shows me the rates but that notification isn't there. Maybe I needed to enter the addresses for it to display, but I don't see an address entered in your screenshot either.

To be honest, I haven't put an address either, as you can see.
Have you tried putting an XMR order? It happened to me with XMR.
Also, are you on Tor or clearnet? Because I tried on Tor.

It's just out of curiousity, no big deal of course.

edit: you must be on Tor, because I think the phishing "beware" notification isn't shown on clearnet.

It seems like they don't accept new orders (at least not for BTC/XMR).
That's not what I'm seeing:
Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
This is a proof of the exchange order ec8dcb1335d17ac3b1 created at eXch (https://exch.cx) on Wed Apr 30 04:09:36 2025 to receive user's BTC at bc1q8qy0je7gudu6cfx9an6gc0un8gnfrma2w4r0ja and send XMR to 888tNkZrPN6JsEgekjMnABU4TBzc2Dt29EPAvkRxbANsAnjyPbb3iQ1YBRk1UXcdRsiKc9dhwMVgN5S9cQUiyoogDavup3H. My guess: they're testing shutdown-announcements on the live site. That would explain it isn't showing all the time.

Update: the .onion site is now offline.

I did that too but didn't take a screenshot of it. Same thing. The error you saw didn't appear on my end. I just tried to access their onion domain to try again, and now it seems to be offline.

Also, are you on Tor or clearnet? Because I tried on Tor.
Both screenshots are from Tor as you later realized based on the notifications at the top of the page.

Create a thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0

Someone will take the deal. I will consider it too probably.

End of an era.
eXch should probably publish an official announcement and lock this thread; in the end, they can do without an announcement.
There is no need for further discussion here.

And so ends the story of one of the best exchanges we have had in recent years.  Sad

Well, maybe another one will emerge that can at least do something a little similar. But it will be more difficult.

RIP eXch  Cry
Exchange services are now officially shut down and that includes all clearnet and Tor domains.
I want to to thank them again for supporting bitcointalk community, and for providing great unique exchange service.

Now everyone should be careful of new scammers jumping in and trying to trick people with clone websites.

RIP eXch exchange service. For many years you did well for the crypto space. Your dedication and support for privacy were appreciated by your customers, not so much by hippocrites and authorities.

You will be missed!

Please do not use unregulated, trigger-happy exchanges that demand your documents without being obligated to at least store them securely.

We are excited to announce our donation of 2 BTC to the developer of the MMGen multicurrency wallet in the transaction ID b97638e1c0de516e99689034fa303ca205b5dffbd67848beb3f01bf9b3829d59

This wallet is being actively developed since 2014 and received almost no donations or community attention since that it deserves. This donation is to express our appreciation to its author for their continuous work for past 11 years. We have also added it to the wallet recommendation section on our website.

Official thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=567069.0
Official website: https://mmgen-wallet.cc
Github: https://github.com/mmgen/mmgen-wallet

Posting this in appreciation, and as a reminder that eXch was not just an excellent project -- it was run by amazing people! Best wishes in your future endeavors, eXch team!

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

Excellent work. Very useful resource!

Why not a forum thread too that refers folks to your outside of the forum resources website?

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

They did state something about a new management but it seems as though that may not have transpired. Apart from the .cx domain, the others seem to have been deactivated.

It is a way to monetize  his work. Add refs, get visitors, etc... A forum thread may be helpful too, but the website is as well.
