So don't use the converter at all? Export, then import?

There's no mention in the utilities' help about batch size or chunk size...

I doubt this is a XP compatibility/admin rights issue as it's getting that far before crashing, I'd expect it to crap out straight away if that was the case.

If anyone else has had success with this maybe they could write a brief step by step of what they did? Would be very useful.

EDIT : Now trying blockchain_export.

try
Code:
--batch-size 1000
when using the converter

attention: new database will allocate 16gb space, make sure you have that free too

What's the reason behind this latest crash?

1. We had walls propping things up and they're no longer there.
2. Someone dumped 30k.
3. There's some nervousness about some sidechains, but that's generally only being promoted by those that like to make markets unstable for their own ends.
4.  So we're flailing around trying to find some stability.  The market will likely bounce around for a few more hours until the trolls get bored.

Monero is a part of top20 altcoin index Coinoindex.com

The index includes top 20 alternative cryptocurrencies with largest capitalization and tracks the value of the portfolio (in BTC) in which each coin has a 5% share.
The index was created to be an analogue of Dow-Jones or S&P indexes for the altcoins arena.

Rules of index composition:
- Coin should be traded at at least three exchanges, with cumulative daily volume above $1,000 for last 14 days
- Coins that track a value of a certain asset (USD, CNY etc) cannot be included.
- Each coin in included in the portfolio with the same weight.

You can invest in the index by using NXT Asset Exchange, NXT Asset ID 13634675574519917918

Asset tracks the index value, and constant buy/sell liquidity is maintained.
You can invest using NXT cryptocurrency (you can exchange BTC to NXT directly in the NXT client from http://multigateway.org/ or at http://coinomat.com) or BTC at https://trade.secureae.com/

  http://coinoindex.com - Cryptocurrency Industrial Average

thx for the notification.

btw nushares is listed twice under the "current portfolio composition"  Wink

What's the reason behind this latest crash?

Some "Altcoins are soon[tm] to be obsolete" Fudders dumped hard just to rebuy even more coins cheaper.
^^^ you can quote that into "Lies Bagholders Tell Themselves" thread if you like.

Of course, this makes the whole system far more needlessly complex and far less secure than a coin that just uses one chain (since it relies on merged mining with very dodgy security assumptions).

Sidechains are not mined.  They can only replace centralized coins like Ripple (SideRipples?).  It was announced here today:

Quote
security for the blockchain is provided by a set of predefined functionaries in an arrangement called a Fed-Peg. The sidechain does not include mining or proof-of-work at this point.

At one point in the past people hoped there would be some magic way to have truly decentralized security without a new source of scarcity to incentivize new forms of mining, or that there was some way to have decentralized security without mining -- but it turns out there wasn't no such thing as that particular free lunch.

Some "Altcoins are soon[tm] to be obsolete" Fudders

All the proposals for non-centralized sidechains had massive holes poked in them and collapsed.  Now even the sidechain originators have abandoned that goal.  So sidechains really aren't an alternative to altcoins anymore.

There are still a lot of redittards and shills chirping last week's Blockstream propaganda, but make no mistake: 08-Jun-2015 was the day when "sidechains are coming" mattered.

Sideripple.  You mean sideripple.  There are no sidechains anymore (never were).

anyway, what is so great about monero?
monero might be anoymous than bitcoin but bitcoin with a litte mixing is already anoymous enought

there is no need for another coin

the blackmaket will never adopt monero, because bitcoin has value and monero does not

No thanks. I will wait for the Android app.

IOS is a DRM infested walled garden contolled by a centralized authority, Apple, that co-operates closely not only with the NSA but with many security agencies around the world. The design of IOS goes against all three pillars of Monero,  privacy, decentralization and scalability.  https://forum.getmonero.org/1/news-announcements-and-editorials/183/editorial-the-three-pillars-of-monero.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card
