Hi!

Recently, I decided to diversify and instead of having only Bitcoin (BTC) as a store of value, I decided to buy a cryptocurrency with a greater focus on privacy and that I, as a common mortal, could mine.
I found Monero (XMR) ɱ and I really like the project.

Can you tell me how Monero is doing in terms of security flaws?

I'm using Exodus to buy Monero and then send it to Cake wallet with Cupcake as a companion hardware wallet, on an offline phone. Are these apps good for storing Monero?
I tested Monerujo + Sidekick, but it seemed that Sidekick still had a lot of bugs... and it only had support for Monero, what do you think?

In June this year, when Monero is delisted from Exodus, where can I safely buy Monero?

Thanks.

https://cakewallet.com/
https://docs.cakewallet.com/cupcake/

https://www.monerujo.app/
https://www.monerujo.app/sidekick.html

I used AirGap Wallet app + AirGap Vault app for Bitcoin, but these Apps don't support Monero.

where can I safely buy Monero?

If you have some XMR or know someone who want to SELL it to you, you can use https://retoswap.com/ P2P anonymous and open source exchange.
Other exchanges are mentioned at https://kycnot.me/?t=exchange&q=&xmr=on

Please do not use spyware G00gle services. Use private services like Proton and others

Fair enough, I responded on the dedicated topic.

The read is in HTML/CSS, with no JavaScript. To load nodes and filter them by which nodes are the spy nodes, there is an API that you can use if you wish.
I am not fond of the idea of using JavaScript, but just like any node map, including those that exist in Monero, it requires JavaScript to work. Nothing is perfect.

It's hilarious to see you sharing the link to YouTube on the same page as your last comment about the JS.

Lol, context matters, youtube is not an onion dealing in financial security.

It is hard to say much just from that picture. Is there anything in the logs or does it crash as soon as you start it? I'm not sure you should be using windows7 for security reasons anyway.

It is hard to say why this would happen.  But I have quit using the stock software and use Feather almost exclusively.

If you are OK not mining in the client, and will trust/vet 3rd party software it is an option for the meantime as you diagnose whatever causes this.

But then again... I am also an old school Electrum user. (Though Sparrow has earned a place of prominence...)

I had a thought recently that I wanted to share, still working on it.

And something in John's latest monero moon actually hits at this idea.

So, I'm not here to say whether AI is going to be a flash in the pan or it's going to take over the world or what it's going to do, who knows. But as we build these data centers full of semi-specialized processors, I wonder if there's not an opportunity for monero mining there.

Now these processors are specialized but they are closer to general purpose CPUs and they are to ASICs I think and these data centers will be built with peak loads in mind.  This means at certain times of day that are probably somewhat predictable, the loads and the demands on these CPUs is going to reduce.  And that will mean that they could turn some of these things off or down or reduce their power usage and that would be one really good strategy to help keep their costs lower.

But what if when they were not being used to make pictures of people with nineteen fingers or Horrible AI song lyrics or the latest mind-bendingly evil deception about some politician or something.... Instead of just idling they could switch over to Mining Monero for a period of time and then switch back over to making silly pictures when the demand goes back up.

Like I said, just a thought.

Dejavu. I actually forgot what he used to be about.  If I remeber right was few users with similar name. Or just one baned and reregister. Somehow my memory connect him with IOTA, but it is 10 years so could be totally wrong.

Has anyone seen some drama about a potential 51% attack these days? I've read something on reddit that a mining pool had more than that amount of hashrate, but I am not sure if the data is correct.

Excellent, this is a must have for any service provider that claims to protect privacy.

Greetings XMR community,

We just launched our Haveno Network instance called Dawnswap. Before i go into the finer details i will start with the end of my message which is more important than ever in these changing times:

"Decentralization can only be achieved by many and freedom of choice"

Haveno is an open-source, decentralized exchange platform built around Monero as a base currency, with networks hosted and maintained by the community.
Our network, Dawnswap, is an independent instance of Haveno hosted by the collective. By launching Dawnswap, we aim to build trust and strengthen the resilience
of the Monero ecosystem, ensuring that no single network becomes a point of failure or control.

Network characteristics

- Crypto currencies: XMR, USDT, USDC, ETH, BTC, LTC, BCH, DAI

- Other assets supported: XAU (Gold), XAG (Silver), XGB (Goldback)

- Wide range of fiat currencies and payment methods to choose from

- Minimum trade and deposit amount reduced to 0.02 XMR (default: 0.1 XMR)

- Minimum deposit percentage reduced to 5% (default: 15%)

- Fees set to 0.6% to cover systems cost and maintain a self-sustaining network

- Custom installation paths for side-by-side use with other Haveno based networks

- Arbitrators 24/7 available for timely dispute resolution following official Haveno procedure

- Non-Custodial: Users maintain control over their funds

- Privacy-Focused: Utilizes Monero and Tor for secure transactions

- Reliable decentralized infrastructure for maximum availability

I am part of the Dawn Collective, one of many. We hope to add meaning and contribute back to the XMR community and in the original spirit of how crypto is intended to be used. Feel free to take a look at our website for more information.

Website             : https://www.dawnswap.com
Dawnswap github: https://github.com/dawn-collective
Haveno github    : https://github.com/haveno-dex

Right now we invite traders / market-makers who know it is critical to have decentralization of Haveno networks, increase resiliency and choice to people.
