run CLI v0.17 or GUI v0.17. The scheduled network upgrade introduces
three consensus changes. First and foremost, a new ring signature
construction, namely CLSAG, will be introduced. CLSAG enables smaller
and faster transactions with rigorous security. A report of the

Secondly, unlock times are now deterministic. Thirdly, coinbase
rewards now have to be claimed in full.

Additionally, in accordance with our previous announcement, there will

Miners can theoretically mine blocks with smaller block rewards now. No one does it of course, but it's not enforced by consensus code. After the upgrade, they'll be forced to mine only blocks with block reward given by the emission curve.

No. There are no signs of any specialized hardware yet. If the network hashrate goes up, it'll be probably because of new Ryzen CPUs released and XMR price going up.

Can you elaborate? 'Enforce claiming maximum coinbase amount monero' is a protocol rule and therefore applies to all participants (and by extension, wallets). Note that it only affects miners, not 'standard' users.
