Three questions on NXT:

1. Anyone using this faucet? Is it safe? http://freenxt.org/?menu=play

2. I thought NXT wasn't mined. How does Hashrate.org's NXT Multipool work?

3. How many NXT do you need to start forging?

1. Yep.

2. They mine other coins and buy NXT with it.

3. 1... but you probably won't get a block for ever. With 6000 or more you can lease to a pool. I would say with 100k you might get a block a day. There is a calculator somewhere. But, at this time forging fees will be very very very very small.

Personally I thought the attorney referenced in this article raised several good points.  Chief among them being:

"Purchasers of securities issued on a cryptoledger may find that what they think they possess is in fact nothing of the sort - for example, a "cryptoequity" may purport to represent an ownership interest in a company, but will only be so if it is recognized as such in the jurisdiction of the issuer's incorporation.  Extensive due diligence and legal advice are essential before entering into any such investment. "

The fact is that places like Crypto::Stocks and Havelockinvestments seem to be operating in a semi shady-grey area atm and I suspect as bitcoin grows these types of crypto-ledgers will come under the scrutiny of the SEC and other regulatory bodies in fairly short order.

Sorry, but was what I said wrong? Granted, knowing I probably won't get a block with my small balance, I still leave my node running.

Also, I meant to ask about nodes... is it possible to get nodecoins or rewards if I set up nodes that have very small balance?

Haha, no. Maybe, just a bit demotivating for newbies. Wink

Well, actually there was this idea. Not sure where it went to. Maybe, you could ask on nxtforum about the nodecoin idea? Smiley

Nxt mining pools are just like regular mining pools. They usually are  multi currency pool and mine the most profitable altcoin, then convert the mined coins automatically into Nxt.
Don't use your Nxt password for pools like this. Read their documentation.

I made some AE buys and also received some NXT today, and my effective balance is listed as zero? Should the effective balance include any NXT that is older than 1440 blocks not including the newer received coins?

What could someone do with an account id? can they be changed?

I installed NRS version 1.1.6 and now the client is running slow, unable to see recent blocks.

Transactions I made yesterday, are no longer viewable. How long are transactions kept? Is there a reason to adjust the deadline?

Transactions are always kept in the blockchain. (There may be some checkpointing every year, but they will still be in there.)

Try to redownload the blockchain. Reinstall NXT.

That is a password for that web site. Not your NXT password.
