Nice work, very interesting coin. In order to avoid blockchain bloat how possible would it be to reissue the genesis block every few years (transferring over alias and exchange data stores of course)?

Interesting I've been so buried in Syscoin-launch ramp up I totally missed this! Will have to look into this more, thanks very much for the lead  Wink

I haven't seen this video yet so let me review and get back to you. I'm assuming the point of this would be to trim expired items/data/certs from one chain and transfer only "unexpired" items to the new chain via a new genesis block or something like that? Will watch video.

At the moment we're working to get a wide array of items ready for the launch as well as testing all these commands/services and retargeting. We will have an announcement regarding service fees coming out in the next day or two just so its clear what the strategy is there from the start- we want to allow for some price discovery around these features and the announcement will explain that further as well as the strategy.

Also the team is hanging out in the #Syscoin freenode IRC more often these days, come say hi!

Yes. As you said "My point is who knows what the coin will be worth so no one can say the coin is cheap or expensive", so pre-sale price should be decided by market, not by devs.

And then you will hear from people who hate that and rather do it the way Syscoin is currently doing it. Some people rather pay and know exactly how many coins they are getting.

Not everyone follows the thread (I know they should be).
Good idea would be to write briefly (just few points).

make it happen before launch boys! think of the potential. we could still have a tiny blockchain in 100 years, plus the ability to write notes to the receiver when sending transactions, plus all the other features - http://cryptonite.info/?page=features

many people are probably afraid that after syscoin is released development will stop and you will just take your profits from dev premine. dont get me wrong, i like what you did here, but this is crypto and investors probably would feel much safer if they would know that devs would get their coins some time after the launch or gradualy in several batches

Just a heads up, I'm not too familiar with IRC lingo...but it looks like the channel is moderated (+m flag) and therefore those without a voice can't talk (get a "Cannot send to channel" error).  Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong...but I don't see anyone else really talking in there, either, so I'm thinking I'm not the only one.

Anyway, excellent work guys, keep it up! I personally am not too worried about the dev portion of the premine, especially since the plan seems to be to make the team's addresses public. These guys are in it for the long haul.

Although its a good idea, they are not havinga hard time
building trust so if they couldnt raise funds this is valid.
To ease your fears just note that they claimed to have the public keys on display with their syscoin and they wont be removing those coins for a while. They wont dump the pump is what im saying. There is less incentive as the need to be compensated is covered by the ipo.

Dan, can you confirm that each person on the team will have their coins on display for everyone to ease this type of issue with people? Its very valid and something investors will ask before buying on the market once it opens up.

Not everyone follows the thread (I know they should be).
Good idea would be to write briefly (just few points).
- what will syscoin have that other coins do not have
- what syscoin has that some of other Top coins have

Good Q:
- what will syscoin have that [almost all] other coins do not have
-- Marketplace Service
-- Certificate Issuance/Storage/Management and Transfer Services
-- Key/Value Storage Service (small data)
-- Data Storage Service (larger data, up to 250kb)
-- Universally Merge-Mineable with ANY other Scrypt PoW coin
-- All data tied to Syscoin services has provable ownership via the blockchain (aliases, data, certs and offers)
-- All Syscoin services are implemented directly on the blockchain and are visible via a block explorer. This is not an implementation on top of the blockchain, within the wallet only, or anything like that.

- what syscoin has that some of other Top coins have
-- Scrypt based PoW for extremely strong network hashrate / merge mining means wider distribution of coins
-- Innovative features beyond simple PoW/PoS modifications (NXT, Ripple, Darkcoin, Namecoin, and MaidSafeCoin which comprise 50% of the top coins go beyond PoW/PoS modifications. These coins are different than Syscoin, but pursue similarly large [or larger] innovative development initiatives)

many people are probably afraid that after syscoin is released development will stop and you will just take your profits from dev premine. dont get me wrong, i like what you did here, but this is crypto and investors probably would feel much safer if they would know that devs would get their coins some time after the launch or gradualy in several batches

All of the premine that is going to the dev team will be made public- we're publishing the wallet addresses so you can see we aren't dumping anything. There of course will be a portion of that funding that is used to pay forward moving, additional developers coming onto the team. This will not be in the dev wallets and will be in a separate wallet specifically for these types of payouts, happy to publish its address as well.

Thanks for the heads up, you are most likely right- sorry I'm admittedly an IRC noob and have been working to improve my knowledge in this regard. Let me research the MLOCK mode on the channel to get a better understanding of what the moderation flag does, and I'll remove it if unnecessary.

Anyway, excellent work guys, keep it up! I personally am not too worried about the dev portion of the premine, especially since the plan seems to be to make the team's addresses public. These guys are in it for the long haul.

Thanks very much! Doing our best to keep everyone updated! And yes we'll be making those addresses public, I can tell you follow this thread Smiley Sorry we've been really busy we are trying to get a lot of web-properties ready for the launch (amongst other things). Because Syscoin is so different we're having to make some things from scratch (for instance, the block explorer is entirely new and rewritten using NodeJS and Bootstrap). Lots of irons in the fire right now!

I would hope it's moderated. This is cryptos, and lots of immature kids running around spreading FUD and spam. If it's fud i really, really hope for our sake of investment that this thread is moderated, and spam/FUD is deleted here too.

Nothing can kill a good investment faster than the trolls coming on here once things pick up and FUDDING. Its ruined good coins before. Investors run away. Look at blackcoins old thread and tell me you'd invest in that coin reading that stuff?

Don't get me wrong, if it's constructive criticism, or real disagreements or concerns, thats not FUD. If presented in a way that is not trolling or FUD or being a clever troll, voices should not be moderated. But for sake of all of us invested is surely hope IRC and bitcointalk thread all purposeful FUD or immature stuff is deleted.

Please consider this development so that this coin reaches it's full potential. It's nice to think we can all play nicely in sandbox but there are group of people out there that attach threads just to drive prices down when a coin is hot. So in perfect world no moderation is ideal, but that's not how cryptos work.

Hi

Please have a read through the OP that's a question that has been answered a few times now and it should also help clarify any further questions for you.

There is a section based on Presale questions that Dan keeps updated Smiley
