Russia is attacking a bit more now. And the possession right now is almost 50-50. Early advantage for Belgium is lost after their strikers wasted a lot of good opportunities. First half will end in 0-0.

Y, Russia is better and defensive, but with good atack oportunities, Belgium better but not as good to justify the pre-WC hype of them being what Costa Risca is.

For me will be another 1vs0 or 0vs0 game.

Agreed. The Belgians should bring in Adnan Januzaj in the second half. They need to win this game to make sure of the PQF spot. If they finish as the runners up within the group, they will face Germany in the next stage.  Grin

The -120 match favorites have been doing shitty in this World Cup. Aka Belgium. Russia wants the draw so they can try their luck against Algeria.

Wouldn't be surprised with Algeria beating South Korea today and the US knocking out a draw or better against Portugal

A draw will not do them any good. That will leave them with just 2 points from 2 games. Anyway they need a win against Algeria to progress to the next round (and a Belgian victory against South Korea).  Grin

Yes and then a win from Algeria would give them 5 points and qualification. There is no other team in the group that is dominating. Therefore it is completely open to be taken and they would be more than satisfied to get a draw with Belgium.

Russia should have had a penalty in the first half, plus they missed a golden opportunity towards the end of the half.

Nobody wants a draw, all teams want a win - even the smaller teams want to sting the opposition from set pieces. Reminds of the Iran - Argentina game yesterday, a game Iran should have probably won but didn't get the decisions or finish the chances they created.

Everyone is getting frustrated. The players are frustrated and the crowd is even more frustrated. I could even hear the crowd booing.  Grin And the stupid Russian coach is still not playing either Kerzhakov or Dzagoev.

Put European guys to play on Rio at 13 pm is just madness. Both teams are suffering from the heath, this is why the game is so slow. I see another 0vs0 coming.

Belgium suffered to win against Algeria, think will be harder for the Russians. Also this Cup is full of surprises, so nothing is granted

People like Kompany, Vertonghen, and Vermaelen, all really experienced defenders won't have a hard time against Russia. But still a very unpredictable game.

If the Russian coach continues with Kokorin and Samedov, then the Belgian defence won't be having any troubles at all.  Grin Especially Samedov was pathetic in the last match against South Korea.

They should play Kerzhakov and Dzagoyev from the start. Yury Zhirkov was also out of touch in the last match. Replacing him with Roman Shirokov won't be a bad idea.

That said, the Russian defence is much better than their attack and midfield. Their defenders such as Vasili Berezutskiy, Sergey Ignashevich, and Dmitry Kombarov are very experienced and capable players.  Grin

Couldn't agree any more. This really bothered me about the first match. Very stupid decision-making by Capello.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

I don't get this plan at all. Dzagoev out at 80+ minutes again. He is such a talented player and he gives him barely any time to play. Vs. Korea he came out and immediately set up a goal. What is Capello thinking?

If anyone is to be blamed for Russia's lose today, it is Capello. His stupid plans destroyed the chances of Russia progressing to the PQF stage. Trust me. If this man is the coach, Russia will lose their next match as well (vs Algeria).

Yeah so happy that Belgium took it, was about to get mad over the tie until the last minute.

Belgium does have any easy group tho, they get Algeria and Korea next.

Belgium won, but I think they are still far away from being a good team. I think both USA and Gana would easily win against them, specially Gana. Also they clearly have a problem with the temperature.

All the European teams are having problems with the temperature and humidity. Also, they were playing against the Russians, who might have had even more problems with the climatic conditions. So temperature can't be used as an excuse.

Anyone else feel this gritty Algeria team can take South Korea straight up?

The Koreans looked pretty weak against the Russians and the Algerians stood their ground against Belgium.
