Neymar: Brazil vs Croatia. Should have been sent off for elbowing a player in the head, goes on to score two minutes later and then a penalty later on.

Godin: Uruguay vs England. Should have been sent off for an arm to the throat of a player, scores the winner against Italy in the following game.

Suarez: Uruguay vs Italy. Bites a player, avoids being sent off as the referees didn't see it. Team goes through.

Reminds me of four years ago when he hand balled on the line in the last minute of stoppage time. While justice was served that day in the form of a sending off and a penalty, you can't help but feel for Ghana as they ended up missing the penalty then losing on penalties.

Quite a few of those teams have 'gone' home now, and a few more of them are 'going' home soon. I had England and Spain to go through, massively surprised that neither are through to the next stage. At least Spain enjoyed their swansong as World Champions.

What makes you say that? There have been some wonderful comebacks, and some gutsy performances from the lower seeded teams. There are always going to be refereeing mistakes, but I think that some of the South American teams have been getting the benefit of the doubt far too often. That or all of the officials seem to be missing the fouls that they are committing.
