Bitcoin is Freedom

Bitcoin was created with the idea that it could provide financial freedom, but we are a long way from the dream.

How so? I already enjoy financial freedom as I have the option to choose between staying connected to fiat in ful, or to finally get my financial freedom by choosing for Bitcoin. I have around 40% of my total wealth in Bitcoin as we speak. It feels fantastic knowing that I can financially operate outside the banking system 24/7 instantly. There are no borders anymore.

I agree, we are not far away from this dream as you call it. But that depends on.each individual how it will use this opportunity for freedom. I have use it partialy and I'm not so much depending on banks like I used to. But you have to make your chances that bitcoin offers you and get your financial freedom.

Bitcoins also have value. However, it works quite differently from current fiat currency. It's value is determined by how people value bitcoins. Unlike your local currency, where it has a gold equivalent in your State's gold room

Last time someone had tried to exchange a certain "local currency" to its gold equivalent, it led to an officially declared divorcement of that currency from gold. I don't really know where you got this idea from, I mean, that local currency has some gold equivalent in the state's gold vault. In respect to currency valuation process, I don't think either that any currency nowadays is valued by the amount of gold that a particular government holds...

It is more about the amount of goods produced and services rendered by the economy

Bitcoin is freedom, well, many people also said that when you have bitcoin, you have freedom, freedom of buying almost anything without moving into your seat, its only a click away. Maybe thats what are they trying to say. For me were not really free with bitcoin. Everyday we are focussed from our desktop or laptop to earn some of them and i think that is not what freedom is. This is just my opinion though. This is a job, not a freedom.

That is different things. Bitcoin is "freedom", but it doesn't mean you will earn a lot of BTCs for free. 

It's the same logic of any kind of currency and jobs. You need to work to receive money. Easy tasks/jobs will surely pay less money (those jobs you are saying to be focus on desktop or laptop), more elaborated and skilled jobs will pay better rates. That is fair, nothing to complain about it.

Yes but in my experience you could not send a large quantity of bitcoin when they dont have your profile information and some identification. There is a limit to just how much you could send. That is one more problem.

Indeed this is why I also like bitcoin because there's no tax applying to it.. and I can do a lot of things using my bitcoins so that's why it's really good for me.. it's really a freedom for having a bitcoin in your wallet.

It is not about staying "confidential", it is more about preserving the purchasing power of your wealth if you keep it as money. Loading money in the bank at miserable interest may be safe in itself, even if the bank officials are corrupt, but this doesn't prevent inflation from eating away the value of your money. Whether you stay confidential may not be your top priority, especially if you didn't steal that money and are not going to launder it.

What concerns Bitcoin disadvantages and deficiencies, confirmation times could be effectively brought to nought by using payment processors. For example, transferring bitcoins from one account to another in Coinbase web wallet is almost instant. I guess basically the same could be done with purchases, and Bitcoin payment cards seem to be doing exactly that. Irreversibility is another issue that I don't quite like myself. Personally, I would opt for a grace period (defaulting to 0) within which the transaction can be revoked, but that is not top priority among Bitcoin developers, obviously

I guess bitcoin being popular doesnt necessarily mean freedom. I believe that the freedom that the author means is the freedom from banks and having control of your own investment and enjoying the interest from price inflation. But if we look digger would bitcoin mean freedom or just another financial slavery system that in every transactions we need to pay the miners, that even without doing business transactions just a transfer would mean fees. But compared to banks bitcoin is still the best since the fees are very low and interest is harvested by us. I just hope that in near future when bitcoin will replace the banks the fees will not climb up like it is now, if it is then everything is useless.

And there is other countries that are not allowing to use bitcoin and I feel sorry for those people who lives there,  because their government is not regulated the usage of bitcoin so instead of letting their people use bitcoin. They just totally put ban on it, because they think that it can harm their banking system and probably it can be used for hacking.
