There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Great! This is what I need. Change Stake description to "After 8 hours, you will help secure the network."

Congratulations to everyone contributing to Cryptolina Stake N'Bake! It was a great success!
The total network weight at 6PM PST today is 12113389.
Those of you who took pledges or sending a fixed donation be sure to send a donation by 8/17/14 6PM PST. This is our way of saying Thanks to that fine Blackcoin presentation at Cryptolina. Lot of pictures on our official Twitter if you'd like to know what more about it.

Community seems busy with Bter and NXT and the Bitcoin price reflects that too.

Community seems busy with Bter and NXT and the Bitcoin price reflects that too. Well, the BTC price was basically made by 2 or 3 (first two belonged together, i guess) giant dumps of 5-9k BTC. It will take some time until it goes up again since a lot of those who had low orders filled will sell off during a recovery. Remember that it went diown to 450 USD in a single shot, as all the alts a "long-time-low" after almost breaking 700 USD. NXT: I did not follow this shit, did they rollback anything or manipulate the Blockchain in any way? NXT aside BTER looks surprisingly like business as usual. Rgearding BC/all alts: Not much movement due to BTC and NXT, where there is volume people are dumping like mad. Both DRK and CLOAK will soon be back to their pre-pump levels, we already went through that shit. It's hard to believe that is it actually happening, but that's how it is, even DRK will likely go back to as low as 0.0014 as it was before it took off.

It's too bad that all the alts are so close and dependent on bitcoin price. A serious crash would send the alt scene in the freezer like last May. As for nxt they didn't rollback , bter is supposed to take the loss and then get it back from the "hacker". And about the drk , glad I sold as soon as i made 3x of my investment.

It looks like it will be a bad weekend, but we're still hanging in there. Maybe Cryptolina might change some things. We'll see. I think an altcoin has to at least hit the LTC range before it's not so dependent on BC.

I think that means exchange rates and what are the most preferable coins for BC to change into ? Blackcoin to spots would probably go unused unfortunately I say all the common ones, so Doge, LTC maybe RDD, moon. If BC is so low then no reason it cant soak up some of those cheapy coin types and put their holders drowning in liquidity on this lifeboat

So this is very interesting.
Most altcoins are plummeting lately! I mean, Black dropped more than I would have liked, but damn - compared to most of the other recent 'flavors of the month' bc's fall to current levels are reasonably stable.
Maybe this is when people realize BC is the real thing. I have a feeling we're going to see a real shakeup soon.
Btw, does anyone know how to use the BC with Visa? I'm not clear on how that works but I really want to try it out when its available. I'd seriously consider doing most of my daily transactions that way if its as convenient as it sounds.
Imagine if 1000's of us started cycling in a thousand or so a month (USD) each into the BC economy for actual purchases and transactions. That activity should help create some real liquidity and demand - which in turn should motivate more people to invest.

It seems as if blackcoin has fared the best out of all the altcoins after the big hit bitcoin has taken. Even litecoin has plummeted badly.
This really shows the rock solid confidence the Blackcoin community and investors have in blackcoin.
