I have released an optimised version of nist5 for sgminer (and amd). It is based on x11mod from lasybear
It works best on 14.6 amd drivers.

It was tested so far on my R9-290x and allows to almost double the hashrate.
On the standard talkcoin kernel, I was getting around 8.5MHash/s (on 14.6 drivers)
With this kernel I get 15.8MHash/s (average) at 1050MHash/s

To use it: "--kernel nist5"

I highly recommend to keep an eye on the temperature as the card can run hot (80°C) and over/underclock according to your liking.

The source can be found at: https://github.com/djm34/sgminer-nist5
binaries with ADL (fan temp) support for windows: http://www35.zippyshare.com/v/84876787/file.html

I didn't try to compile on linux, however it should work (if not let me know)

Donations are welcomed (since I double your hashrate  Grin)

    TAC: TuqNvPoQxghHfzwnPpAxSTiYoN6FM8LM5p

Well I hope there is a bounty for that too  Grin

Good job djm34, although it won't let me compile under linux and I manage somehow to compile this, but I didn't get any improvement at all. I think the improve performance lies on driver 14.6, which I currently dont have (still 13.12).

Actually, this was released 1/2 half hours ago and I am pretty sure to be the only one using it right now  Grin (however Nvidia got their upgrade too)
As much as I'd like to own the hashrate, this won't happen with my only R9 290x.  Grin

And for your info, the difficulty has been decreasing quite a lot since yesterday.

When I try to run, libcurl-4.dll is missing

next, libcrypto.dll is missing Undecided
that's strange, I run my version without these...

Take libcurl-4.dll (http://www71.zippyshare.com/v/31328651/file.html) from old sgminer and working now.

It is clear that 14.6 is needed to get the speed increase on groestl.
But I see also some big difference between talkcoin where I was getting around 8.5MHash/s (both using 14.6)
to this one where I get 15.8MHash/s (I didn't try on the old one).

Mine hash went from 11.43Mh/s to 20.54Mh/s with your compiled miner. Both tried on drivers 14.6

I have tested on 13.12 and 14.4 drivers. (all in Debian 7.5)
Performance on 13.12 is slightly worse (6.2Mhs -> 6.1Mhs)
on 14.4 (6.2Mhs -> 5.6Mhs).

It seems like your mod doesn't like old drivers.

Anyone experience the same thing?

I will have a look to the linux side (it was tested only on windows so far).
Yes the 14.6 drivers are required.

djm34 uses windows branch so if you clone from this repo you won't able to compile it under Linux. Copy all of files in subfolder .deps of all algo folders from sph-sgminer_x11mod to sgminer-nist5 you should be able to compile it. But it needs 14.6 drivers. Anyone could please share his 14.6 *.bin file for 280x, 290 ? thanks. Just upload all your *.bin files in sgminer-nist5 if you got boost from djm34's version.

I can report for performance decreasing too, about of ~3% :: R9 290, v14.4(windows), and increasing power (started use memory)

...will try the 14.6.

when trying to compile on ubuntu, everything is fine until

git clone https://github.com/djm34/sgminer-nist5
cd sgminer-nist5
autoreconf -i
CFLAGS="-O2 -Wall -march=native" ./configure

but when I press
make

I receive "No names found, cannot describe anything". Where are located these .deps file you wrote in your post?? I cannot find a .deps folder in sph-sgminer_x11mod
