Update: Had some other coins stolen too. Many from encrypted wallets. And my anti virus can't find anything. This is extremely discouraging.

you know having an antivirus isnt a guarantee that your computer would be virus free. there are no anti virus which can totally protect your system. guess what you dont even need an anti virus if you know what you download and what you put in to your pc

Mac wallet seems to hang after opening.  Shortly after opening wallet I can see the blockchain being downloaded thru the debug window.  When it appears to stop I look at the wallet.dat file size which confirms a lack of updates.  Network activity appears to remain ongoing regardless.  A restart gets it going again but not for long.  Suggestions?

I was just wondering for future reference. I had a channel that was starting to take off but I ended due to issues and constraints. Are you definitely using the latest version of the HYPER Mac wallet? Does it have the staking graph in-built into the wallet? The Mac wallet was developed by a (trusted) third party but it is usually pretty stable and I haven't heard of this particular issue.
