Why don't you guys just open source the new releases? What do you see wrong with the model of Bitcoin, Bitshares, Ethereum, Monero, NXT,
Nxt is doing it exactly as we do. They don't open up the source code immediately. See yourself: https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/maybe-it's-time-to-open-the-nxt-core-development/https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/maybe-it's-time-to-open-the-nxt-core-development/msg199725/#msg199725So you can see, they (Nxt devs) are obfuscating new releases as well. We just released v0.5.2 and took the weekend off, after several hard 7-day-weeks. We will release the source code of course at one point, we just need to decide when. I don't know enough about the other altcoins you mentioned. and every other cryptocurrency?
First and foremost, we are a platform built with elements of a crypto-currency. There are over 600 crypto-currencies with 0 success, somewhere they need to do something wrong. I don't say it's that they release their source code, but I presume the general handling is one of the causes. There is a reason why many big companies don't open source their code, it's because the code is their business. Everything they have. Why do you think people are going to be willing to buy into your closed source ecosystem? It was like you had to be pressured to release the source for v0.3x, and then you immediately update to v0.5x, which is apparently incompatible with the version you released the source for. I'm honestly just curious, and not trying to troll; I just don't see what the appeal/necessity is of keeping things closed source. Nobody is using it, nobody is developing for it, why would someone even bother to try and copy it?
Sorry for "immediately update to v0.5x" with dozens of bug fixes, speed improvements, decentralized applications, dapp store, multi-signature, loading bars and so on. We are constantly refining the code, making it better, faster, more feature-rich. We have a model, at which we release software to the public. Check a few weeks if everything is working fine, then release the source code. It's all related to the security of our users, not because someone will copy it. Again, we will open source the 0.5.x branch. We just released 2 days ago in the middle of the night. Be patient. I was just curious as to your rationale, which you didn't really explicate except to say that "There is a reason why many big companies don't open source their code, it's because the code is their business. Everything they have." This is somewhat of a non-sequitur imo, for several reasons: you're not a big company, companies that rely on others to develop their ecosystem probably do more often than not open source their code immediately (android, firefox, chrome, etc.), and your biggest competitors (which are light years ahead of you in terms of valuation) also open source their code immediately (BTS and ETH). NXT was probably the worst one to compare to as they've been plummeting in value, and the thread you linked was about how many in their community think they should open source their development. I'm not being impatient, I only have a relatively small amount on poloniex and a passing interest, I just wanted to get an idea of the thinking behind the decision to be closed source. Is BTS really developing a decentralized application platform? Or do they want to do financial smart contracts? jwinterm, please don't understand me wrong. I'm ALL for open source, Crypti is in fact open source under MIT license. Just the latest release wasn't made public yet. I will ask the foundation what they think about open sourcing the code now. As you know we normally would open source it with the next release.

I don't think it's really helpful to be open source if you only release the old version, which apparently is incompatible with the current production version, but it's your guys' company, so it's up to you.
Probably accurate to say that BTS is more geared towards smart contracts, assets, and multi-sig, but they bill themselves as a 2.0 platform, so I'd still consider them a competitor of yours.

Don't twist my words please. I never said Crypti is a company. Again:- We will open source very soon - We just want to make sure everything is running smoothly on the mainnet (big difference than testing only on the testnet) - We might clean up some areas (with comments or making it more readable) So please, accept that for now.

Nxt is doing it exactly as we do. Please, do not lie! Current NXT client version is 1.6.2 and it is fully opensource. Current Crypti client is 0.5.2 and it is not. Links you provide is not about opensource, but about opening the development process. Obsfurcated are only experimental versions which are mainly for testing. All releases are shipped with source.

Our Lite Client is Back! Crypti v0.5.2Hello Community Members, As you probably know Crypti v0.5.2 was released exactly 10 days ago. Due to updates in our peer functionalities our old lite client wasn't working anymore. In the past days we fixed the issues and it's now back. The lite client has the release number v0.5.2, to remove any confusion between it and the Crypti: Delegate & Developers Edition client. Please be aware, that as of now the lite client doesn't support Multi-Signature Groups and the Dapp Store. We wanted to release the client as soon as possible to re-establish the access to the Crypti network for our users who don't want to use Crypti: Delegate & Developer Edition. We will update the lite client with the missing features in the near future. You can download Crypti on our Download page or below: - Crypti v0.5.2 for Windows- Crypti v0.5.2 for Mac OSThank you very much. Our Lite Client is Back! Crypti v0.5.2
Please, remind me how lite client works with Crypti network? Which nodes does it connects to and how is choosing them? It connects to all nodes randomly. Every signing is done locally. So it's perfectly secure.

Quick call to the big XCR holders: please vote for my delegate node (Azkhabar)! It's been up and running for a long time now and many other nodes in the 101 list aren't forging for weeks now... Please check the following URL https://cryptichain.me/delegateMonitor and remove/add votes accordingly Thanks!

Delegate Crowdfunding & Chinese Lite ClientHello Everyone, Welcome back to our weekly blog post! As always, we raise important matters and cover the recent updates to the Crypti ecosystem. This week, we want to announce our Delegate crowdfunding, and the Chinese version of our new Lite Client. Delegate CrowdfundingAs of today, the Crypti Foundation still controls the majority the 101 elected delegates. In an ideal situation, most of these delegates would be operated by members of the community. However, despite our continuous efforts to recruit new community elected delegates, with our Delegate Reward Program, or the Refund of Delegate Registration Fees, the situation remains largely unchanged. We are therefore asking the Crypti community for help. If you are a member of the Crypti community, you can help in the following ways: Donate to our Delegate Crowdfund, and the funds will be used to help pay for the Foundation controlled delegates. Register as a Delegate, ask the community to vote for you, and secure the network yourself. Our crowd fund target is $300. This will guarantee the Foundation controlled delegates will remain online until the 30th June, 2016. On the 31th May, 2016 we will start another crowdfunding for the remaining 6 months of the year. Due to the current low exchange volume and in order to protect the current XCR/BTC price, donations are being accepted in Bitcoin only. Therefore, please make all donations to the following Bitcoin address: 17RcZDCnsdUddnATnURFoV41fjmVpd7z8KIf you have any questions or special requests (e.g. to donate USD/EUR via a bank transfer), please contact Max at the Crypti Foundation. Chinese Lite ClientThe Chinese cryptocurrency community has always played a big role in the success of individual altcoins. As a consequence of this, the Crypti Foundation has worked closely with Luiz Chen, Crypti's Chinese correspondent, to bring the Crypti Lite Client to the Chinese community. We believe the newly translated Lite Client, will help foster adoption, and encourage the Chinese community to become more actively involved. Versions for Windows and Mac OSX are available for download using the following links: - Windows - Chinese Lite Client- Mac OSX - Chinese Lite ClientIf you are from China and want to know more about Crypti, feel free to join our QQ group: 162437561Thank you very much! Hello, on the OP is a list of things we are working on right now. To summarize it, we are currently refining the dapp store including a dapp update mechanism. On the backend we also testing "Quick Launch" right now, i.e. booting up the full client in a few seconds (removing the boot loading process). On the frontend we are working on a responsive design. In my opinion you shouldn't just hold, but also promote Crypti. We urgently need multipliers (people who share the word).
