Call me paranoid but I wonder of Smaraga is actually the biggest troll on this forum. I mean whenever a coin gets momentum and interest he turns up and supposedly defends it but more often than not it makes people so negative they leave. I've seen him signglehandly destroy the atmosphere on Qora. Also a whale got 50 million NXT, there is 8.99x more NEM, no one person has 450 million NEM.  Those big addresses you see are held in cosign by multiple people.

So there aren't a lot of whales?

None really.  The biggest is like a really big Walrus or Dolphin.  Some of them have around 0.005 (half of 1%).  Whales in cryptos are usually people who own 0.05 (5%) or more.  These are people, since they own so much coin, can crush the price at any moment and can dump and pump all day with ease.  NEM has no whales.

Maybe so but this coin was raised under the banner of some kind of utopian egalitarian ideals, that's on record.

Still this coin is still pushing the idea of an equal distribution, anyone with a brain knows in crypto that is an oxymoron if you only got a few thousand people involved.

You seem to confuse the concept of egalitarian and equal distribution with a planetary relief fund.  XEM is not a substitution for welfare regimes.  XEM was built with intent of powering and securing the NEM platform.  XEM was equally distributed and is an egalitarian cryptocurrency.
