With regards to the problem that the popup in the gui which displays the real account data cannot be selected for copy & paste (which some users reported):

This is only an issue when using Firefox. We are aware of it and will fix it in the next release. You can use Chrome to have the ability to copy & paste the data.

do i allow "port forwarding" and then enter the port number and an ip? address or do i "white list" the port number in "port filtering" or is it something else? cant find what to do with the port number after im told my node isnt set up

If you whitelist that port it should be enough.
If whitelisting does not work configure portforwarding for 7890 and the ip of the machine NIS is running on and the same port on that machine.
I'm not sure how versed you are in these things so I'll add this without wanting to offend you.
The machine your forwarding to will not have the ip you're usually seeing when you're surfing the internet and check your ip. It will most likely look like 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1.

ok..

i went to ipconfig in cmd and it gives me ipv4 and default gateway that only have the last digit different.. which is it? they both look the same as the latter ip you posted.

It's not the default GW it's the other one. The default GW should be your router and you need the IP of the machine NIS is running on.

still not workin.. udp or tcp? it was set default tcp..

iv tried ipv4, public ip got from a website, DG, white listing and forwarding. no luck.. Sad

I think tcp is used but I'm not sure as udp would also make sense.
Have you tried also specifically allowing that port for incoming in the windows firewall ?

So are the accounts made on this beta software the accounts we can use to receive real NEM? Smiley

This is the first time I really got the chance to test NEM. All I can say is that I'm amazed. The developers have done absolutely stunning job, and I'm sure NEM will be a very viable competitor for BitCoin.

We are going to the moon with fair distribution and big development fund. Smiley

P.S. Also, what does it mean that my node is misconfigured? I can see my transactions went through, so how does it affect me? Can't harvest?

Oh yeah, sorry I forgot about that rule. (Although, I think surely that rule should not apply to us here as this is just a testnet... but better safe than sorry I suppose.)

You can send and you can harvest, no problem. It means your computer does not actively help distributing transactions and blocks in the network.
To do that your router needs to forward port 7890 to the computer that is running the node. Also the firewall should let incoming and outgoing request on port 7890 pass.

ok no luck.. i dont know what the hell is wrong that it wont work.. :/ allowed the port in the firewall settings, didnt work, turned off the firewall - didnt work, router settings didnt work.. :/

edit:

martismartis, netgear (ssid)AirCard-4210

just had a look online and one site, in relation to white listing, is showing ports like "http=port80". is that the way it is supposed to be entered or just as "7890" with out the http=?

no worries if i cant get it working, il just bring it into college and someone will know how to fix it..

i will take a look at the netgear (ssid)AirCard-4210 docs a little later and then tell you what to do (you are running windows?).

Oops - I already answered in the chatbox.

[Oct 21 12:25:04] patmast3r:because you have to wait a bit for it to start
[Oct 21 12:25:53] patmast3r:depending on hardware and network seeped it can take between 20 seconds and 5 minutes (allthough more than 1 min is unusual)

patience - do you have even the slightest bit ?

So are the accounts made on this beta software the accounts we can use to receive real NEM? Smiley

yes but you HAVE to use the "create real account" thing in settings menu. dont use the address that you create when setting up the client. you should get a message box that contains private key, address and i think public key? not sure.. but you will know what im on about when you see it.

Great, cheers Kod. Smiley
