I got a better idea. Those with 4 on their tokens get their NEMs burnt. THat should solve the problem.

new chinese generation doesn't even care anymore about numbers...we would care maybe if the coin it's named Fourcoin or something like that, but not because it has a 4 billion supply. All this discussion it's useless...
devs dont' worry about , focus instead on the official launch.

The bigger problem is the attitude of these comments: you are seriously making fun of other people's believings and show no respect. That may make more harm than not changing the 4.

And: the 4, which is talked about would be the base of the NEM blockchain, isn't it?  It is not comparable to any other 4's in NEM.  You know it, so stop laughing to other's believings.

that's shocking.. Soo many people kicked up a stink over the unclaimed and now that a solution is put into practice by the devs.. No one can even say thank you...

I just caught this post now.  The devs did well.  

Basically if somebody didn't claim their token during the regular period then after launch, redemption will be possible for 3 further months. During this period, redemption will happen with reduced equivalences for NEM stakes.

during the 1st month after launch: 1 NEM stake is worth 750 000 NEM
during the 2nd month after launch: 1 NEM stake is worth 500 000 NEM
during the 3rd month after launch: 1 NEM stake is worth 250 000 NEM
As soon as the 3 months are over, not a single NEM stake will be able to be redeemed and remaining NEMs will be available for NEM development.

This will have given a person more than 4 months to get on board with claiming their NEM.  More than a month pre-genesis and many months after.  After launch the volume of conversations about NEM will go up, maybe a few people that signed up and forgot will have their memories rekindled and will come join us.  For the most part, I doubt it will be an issue.  

On time = 1 000 000 NEM?

This is becoming too much. If the chinese are so superstitious, Doge coin would not have been supported by them. Why are there so many supporters of Doge Coin. How can money be named a dog. In chinese, if something good is named an animal like a dog, it means bad omen.

I think that it is time someone with more power/influence in the community to step in and end this discussion by making a decision. Unfortunately, it has gotten to a point where people are fighting instead of discussing, and that is not something I want to see at all.

If we could just get a dev to come in and give the final word on this we can end the discussion and be done with it, because I am really not happy with how things are going right now.

I think all religions and superstitions are ridiculous but pragmatism dictates that this be taken seriously for business reasons.

By now everyone has given lots of thought and comment to the subject of amount of coins.
Twice on the poll there was a clear majority for 8 billion.
If a core developer were to say it was too late or difficult to change to this number then keep things as they are but if its easy to change then just do it.
