nem is officially in the shitter. I hope it can climb back out.. but as of now nem has retraced or given back almost 100% of the gains it made in dec/jan... that is pathetic. Many of the others have suffered pretty big setbacks as well, but not 100% worth. I hope the bleeding stops soon. Nobody seems interested in the coin, volume is a pathetic $17 million.. not many are buying or selling and there is zero hype or interest it seems.
I wonder if nem blew its wad during that $2 runup and will take years to recover.. hopefully not because it will be forgotten if that is the case.
nem coin has almost 4 years. It's a pretty long time for a coin in cryptoworld. I think that we don't have to worry so much. We just wait until more and more app will start running on xem's blockchain and wait until the memory of the hack will be gone. Without catapult new app wil not inculcate nem in their projects. Also investors are tiered waiting for catapult, which was postnoned many times.

NEM was great for the early investors but it hasn't done anything in terms of bitcoin value for 8 months. Might as well just invest in bitcoin.

You want NEM to outperform Bitcoin in every arbitrary time period of your choosing?

Do you think that the massive theft of NEM which happened little time ago could be one of the reasons of the price tanking? Did someone notice the stolen coin moving from their place in the blockchain?

NEM allows your company to have its own private blockchain to log everything and use it as a way to communicate? can you give some details about that? a company can using a private NEM blockchain, also able to use a public chain.

Yes, as a hybrid blockchain. https://nem.io/enterprise/mijin/

You want NEM to outperform Bitcoin in every arbitrary time period of your choosing? 8 months is an eternity in this market It's not the length, it is the arbitrary choosing of a time frame. You must be new here and don't really understand how these markets work. There are times when NEM will outperform and times when it will underperform Bitcoin. This has been going on literally since Day 0 and will continue to be the case into the future. If you cannot stomach that, I suggest get out of NEM and other cryptos. This is not unique to NEM.

You want NEM to outperform Bitcoin in every arbitrary time period of your choosing? Last year NEM was one of the best performing crypto projects. See here https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/12/18/3-cryptocurrencies-that-outperformed-ethereum-in-2.aspxThe current downtread is mainly caused by the hack. $500 million is a huge amount of coins. The hacker is trying to sell the coins and this caused the dump.

I did it again Bought some NEM at Polo, because the rate was great. Now can´t take it off: "Pending" forever. How can Polo always get away with their bullshit ? Edit: deleted harsher language, in hope they review their stance towards customers.

I'm still hoping the hackers somehow reach out to coincheck and work out a deal to return the coins.

The NEM foundation tried to track the stolen funds, but that seems to have been a wasted effort and the coins seem to be moving around freely. In the absence of leverage, the hacker is just probably going to sell those coins instead of trying to strike a deal with the exchange.

It's more than 10% of circulating supply considering how much is locked in supernodes and foundation funds. It's the equivalent of someone trying to sell well over a million bitcoins, but that's an invalid comparison as the bitcoin market is far, far bigger. Even that would struggle big time, let alone a market as minuscule as xem. If what they say is true then the gox hacked coins were sold over several years which depressed the bitcoin price all that time. The hacker appears too dim to do a coincheck deal.

If someone is selling coins on popup exchange which is running in tor network, i would not call it free sale. I also would not touch them even with 7 meters pole. Don't screw up your entire life with some illeagal profits... You can do better.

Nem able to support a national currency? NEM has a lot of advantages that puts it ahead of others, but is NEM actually up to the task for a big economy? Can it handle the needs of an entire national economy - banking, regulations, accounting, retirement savings, buying lunch, paying the babysitter? Of course all these would require new apps, but I'm talking about the blockchain network itself. Can NEM do it? Is there another blockchain that can do it better?
