I got one from p3tmacter

This guy is registering hordes of new accounts for the purpose of phishing peoples accounts. Look at the new members list and you'll find a bunch. These here are only a few hours old, just went through only 2 pages of member list:

NEMmaster
NEMxtester
EspoNem
nemeconomy
utopian-nem
nem-team
nemutopian
p3tnaster
nemxt
nem-xterster

You can see the members list here listed from new to old.

I added a negative trust rating to all of them (not the new list on the last link, though).
It seems the guy wanted to impress big boys by using a Sr. account. Failed.
Now we can assume either awais3344 has been solded or pirated or that awais3344 is the actual scammer.

Can someone help me please. I'm not super tech savvy.

I've trying to access my NXT wallet for a couple of weeks to no avail. Before logging into my account I get the following message...

A new version of the Nxt client is available (1.2.6). Would you like to update?

If I remember correctly there was a problem a few versions back because bitbucket changed url format, so client update didn't work. Just download the new client manually, and overwrite the current one. https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/

I tried downloading 1.3 from the NXT website, but it doesn't seem to be working either or does it just take hours to download the blockchain?

Not all of us live on BTT (or the NEM forum for that matter). What's your best guess on an approximate date for when we'll be able to claim NEM coins?

Even when redemption starts you will not be asked to enter your btt credentials anywhere.
A detailed guide on how to get your NEM will be released soon but there are some things that you can count on to avoid scams:

When redemption starts you will most likely get a pm from me.
You won't need to enter any username or password anywhere.
We're going to use https
There will  be a detailed announcement so before you hear anything official on all channels redemption hasn't started yet.

Also if you've already fallen for a scam. TELL ME NOW ! Most likely scenario is that the scammers will request assets.

Seeing this do you guys think we should stop issueing assets to avoid scammers requesting assets from legit accounts ?

You really don't have to live on btt anymore. There twitter, the newletter (you can get it via email too just tell kodtycoon or rockethead), the forum, the website.

It's safe to assume a lot of accounts have been compromsied.  I think you're going to need to IMMEDIATELY come up with another way of verifying accounts than using bitcointalk account names. I got the following false PHISHING message:

Hi dear, Very important news about NEM Open Alpha.
<false "bilcointalk" instead of "bitcointalk" link removed>

Just received a PM trying to grab my password. Be careful everybody. Notice the different name, bilcointalk (l as the 3rd letter).

EDIT: Posted it quickly, but looks like all here are on top of it. Keep reporting to the mods.

Hi! Important news about NEM Open Alpha
removed link

I didn't check it and logged it, and now my account McDoxy got compromised (I am a stakeholder)

Sadly I don't think I have any bitcoin address/pgp associated with my account that I could sign and send to theymos. So I guess my stake is gone Sad

Thanks for posting. Atleast the scammer won't get your stake.

Hi dear, Very important news about NEM Open Alpha.
---some bad link---

Trying to grab my password. Thankfully I was surprised that I needed to be logged and saw that the address is different.

I am requesting my stake now. Too risky leaving something so valuable here.

Yes, you should stop immediately, if only temporarily, to sort this out before issuing any other assets.
Really shameful for someone to be doing this so close to the launch date, after so many have waited so long to get to this point.

Please don't everyone drop me a pm about you receiving a phishing pm. Only if you entered your credentials and need your nick exchanged. Otherwise just be happy you spotted it and leave my inbox untouched Smiley Thanks.

Have you stopped issuing assets? I just sent you a PM regarding NEMStake. Looking at your address there is not much 1 NXT transactions into your account so I think they have not tried claiming yet.

I should have claimed a lot earlier. Was just lazy to download and install the NXT client.
