Please don't everyone drop me a pm about you receiving a phishing pm. Only if you entered your credentials and need your nick exchanged. Otherwise just be happy you spotted it and leave my inbox untouched Smiley Thanks.

Could you please confirm that you did not receive any request for my stake?

Look at the transactions into his account. In the last 6 hours there have been only 2, and one of them is mine. So it does not look they have tried claiming anything yet.

I'm sure you guys will understand but knowing btt I guess this has to be spoken out.

We will not issue anything tomorrow !

It seems that almost everyone is getting these messages and many are falling for it. The safest thing for us todo is not give out any more NEMStake and see how many people have been affected.

Also please keep reporting usernames that are being used for phishing so i can mark them on the stakeholder list.

Everyone that fell for the scam and is a NEM stakeholder pm me with a link to your original registration post. We can figure this out guys - no worries.

Hi! Important news about NEM Open Alpha
removed link

I didn't check it and logged it, and now my account McDoxy got compromised (I am a stakeholder)

Sadly I don't think I have any bitcoin address/pgp associated with my account that I could sign and send to theymos. So I guess my stake is gone Sad
your stake may be saved.. Can you send a tx from the acc you played the fee to join? Contact patmas3r asap

Yes I can! Thank you, I just contacted him.

Please note that what you have posted is a typical modus operandi of a scammer.

I am not accusing you as a scammer but you will need to note that you will be subjected to a lot of scrutiny for sure and the release of your stake may be delayed.

I've just lost access to sdersdf2 I messaged you from earlier and now have had to create this new one.
Rockethead's post is well taken - please let me know what alternative verification method you plan to have in place to fix this. This is really terrible.

As I've repeatedly stated on this forum, I do not want an NEM stake -- only the regular coins post-launch, and that hasn't changed. So any request you might get from "sdersdf2" requesting an early stake isn't legitimate.

All I can say is that such a concentrated effort by scammers to steal NEMstakes is nothing but bullish for NEM in my eyes.

Nobody wants to take the time and effort to scam something that isn't valuable, after all. Smiley

I just hope everyone is more careful about putting their password in random places after getting links from people on forums from here on out.
Once we get the actual NEM distributed to stakeholders, hopefully everything will be safe for a while. Scammers know the time is getting close and we will probably be seeing more and more attacks like this in the coming weeks before distribution begins because they know it's their last chance, and unfortunately some people don't know any other way to get in on this without resorting to such underhanded methods.

It's up to us as a community to keep these people from infiltrating us so that we can keep our core community strong and full of people who actually want NEM to succeed. So far, I think we are doing a good job. Smiley

Send 50 000 NXT to my account and send your cat to bring me a cake.
And next time don't be so stupid to try to scam us with a username that has posted in this thread like 3 seconds ago to NOT issue him an asset -.-

Interesting I received a PM from user -> Zahlen as well trying to phish my creds with the dirty link posted above.

Looks like NEM is the real deal, nothing screams valuable then a bunch of smart jerks trying to steal stakes.

EVERYONE please practice basic internet security, do not clik on strange links, assume everyone is trying to scam you. Report all phishing attempts to BCT moderators.

Everyone is very welcome to scrutinize the stakeholder list to make sure I'm not exchanging nicks of legit people.

So far erazor2k has been changed for erazor3k and McDoxy for McDoxy1.
Both provided a new tx from the original registration address.

Does it mean our stake is compromise upon receiving email from them.
or only if you've logged on to their link? I have not logged into any link because
I know that the Alpha launch was long ago. So to me that msg is old news

Seems the scam wave has been well noticed by the community. As patmast3r said, we will not be issuing any assets tomorrow and will try to find a solution to take care of the problem as soon as possible. Until then, please do yourself a favor and check the exact name of the trusted members of the community, most of them are listed on the first page. Secondly, please don't open or fill info on links which request your username and password.

In the meantime we can all calm down, the situation is under control. The assets are safe. All the scamer can do is send fake messages. So it is the duty of every stakeholder to do whatever it takes to protect is private info and NEM stake.

Please be very sceptic of any PM you will receive and make sure you double or triple check the sender before doing anything.

This was bound to happen at some stage. I went for Nem asset a long time ago for this very reason. Bitcointalk accounts are not safe and It was naive to think that accounts wouldnt be targeted. I am just surprised they didnt wait until issue week to make the attack as it would have been way more effective then.
I expect more attempts around that time.
