Promotion. I have thought of something called "Faces of NEM", where people upload videos like "Faces of NEM - John Doe" where for half a minute to 2 minutes they explain why they want a stake, what they would do it and maybe answer any other questions like "what do you envision the future to be if everybody adopted NEM".
These people would make these videos to get 500K. Maybe the most popular respondent will get 2 million NEM? As an incentive to make a video and to get views.
Giving away millions or maybe 1 billion nem would mean Nem would be pretty worthless, just like most other recently launched coins. These people will dump them fast. The recent history has shown that more free "giveaways" the more worthless the coin. All top coins (including bitcoin) are actually controlled by very few people I am already feeling bad for people who bought nem by spending real money on nxt asset exchange, as we are about to be flooded by giveaways that will lower down the prices significantly. I would rather see unclaimed coins destroyed. UP was smart enough to require some base price for NEM after the initial free giveaways. That made most people have at least some "skin in the game." Had everything been free, NEMstake would probably be 5000 NXT. Yes. I paid $Fiat at the time for something that had a value of $0 at the time and wasn't guaranteed to go anywhere. Probably comparable to getting into Bitcoin in 2009. I have skin in the game in that I could had used those funds for other coins and that I almost had to wait 9 months for NEM to launch.

We should look for some meaningful charity to put the extra NEMs to good use and great exposure too. Hey just a thought. porn site use tokens for something. How about NEM instead of tokens?

Nxt made a lot of people rich, not only the original stakeholder, but everyone else who bought between Nov and December.
If you want to see what's worthless, look at Node, NFD, Crypti, Qora, Nas, and dozens of of other coins.
The question is would Nem would be like Nxt or like Nas, Node and NFD? I suspect the worst, specially with "giveaway" talks in the air.
Nxt was a miracle -- and doesn't look it wil repeated again.
Fair enough, I think the outcome of this discussion is similar to the NEM official forum (give aways probably won't happen?)

This isn't an original idea, but there is no incentive for porn site to use nem, something that is hard to cash, hard for buyers to buy, prices could be unstable, especially with talk about giveaways. Why on earth would a porn site use nem? The tokens represent real dollars as people buy them for real dollars. At least bitcoins are more easy to cash, but a site like c4s don't even accept bitcoin. It will be a long time before you can convince a major porn site like C4S to accept nem.

not, I'm sure I typed right. and since the first time was banned Well you may have had hit the submit button too many times or there could be another explanation. Probably the way to fix this is to contact Patmast3r and look up one of those websites on Google: "what is my IP" so Patmast3r knows which one you are on the list and he might remove you?

So yes somebody using TOR has probably been banned from trying to brute force the website.

With the fake emails and someone trying to brute force with TOR there are clearly some people who are putting some effort in to steal NEM. The sooner we get our wallets and coins the better IMO.

On the issue of treating unlcaimed funds, have a look here : https://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2501.msg6261#msg6261In short, I think the discussion of how to treat the unclaimed stakes will have more clarity if we ask ourselves some questions and try and answer that ourselves before we post them. I would propose that before you make any suggestions do ask yourselves what you want to achieve: Objective(s) of the action - what are you trying to achieve and how are you going to do it. Outcome expected of the action - what results are expected. If we stick by the above, we can quickly come to some great conclusions.

not, I'm sure I typed right. and since the first time was banned Any chance you're using a VPN, Proxy or TOR ? Bans happen by ip so if other people made mistakes with that ip or deliberately spammed then you won't be able to claim with it either.

I have no clear idea yet on what todo with the unclaimed stake but here are the things I'm utterly against doing.
Charity If we're gonna do that everyone can donate form their own stake. It makes no sense what so ever to use unclaimed stakes to donate to charity. It wouldn't be very charitable actually since those stakes don't actually belong to us.
More for stakeholders We want to spread NEM wide and far and not give more to the people that already have NEM.
PoW Giveaway I didn't even no about this idea prior to reading TaunSews post but yeah...totally fucked up imho. Here we are saying how much greener we are and how were not wasting energery and then we go ahead and do this ?
Giving it to celebs Srsly ?
Destroying them Basically same deal as with "more for stakeholders".
Using most of it for development Are we underfunded ? Hell yes ! I still think this would be a bad idea as it would also not spread NEM further unless we figure out a guaranteed way to sell them to many people.
The goal imho has to be to get more people into NEM not get more NEM to the people that are already here many of whom are only in it for the profit anyway.

That's also more for development and marketing, not just for stakeholders. IMO there's no other good way of handling the unclaimed stakes. There are no perfect alternatives. I can't figure out a good way to spread NEM to wider audience, which ultimately should be our goal. Edit: Well this seems like a very very good idea!

Charity: will create price decrease, because it will be just sold. You could also give them dollars... PoW: seems ok for spreading to many people. of course its not green, but its only for the initial distribution Giving to celebs: maybe, but somehow also unfair... using for development: acceptable but not for ALL Destroying or give more to stakeholders: is really the same, thats why destroying is better, because of no additional work with it. destroying raises prices. Thats good for the development and for the stakeholders and the only thing, that makes sence... I don't think we can give anyone else, who is not selling them immediatelly. The main problem of distribution is not to spread on many people but to spread on people who are not just dumping it.
