That's like me complaining that my coding of Nexus isn't profitable right now, it's a long term investment; usually these types of investment aren't profitable for a time after you make it, hence larger ROI over longer time. Things don't happen over night; it is your choice to invest your electricity, just as it has been mine to invest my time over the last year, and to continue for many more years to come.

Sometimes it's not about profit, its about doing something that benefits more than yourself. Wink

Thank You,
Viz.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Makes sense Viz, your coding is great, unlike many coins/assets, haven't really had a hard fork since you guys pre-test everything prior to launch.

Right now, all one can do is sit tight and enjoy the ride.

Yes you coding, COINS, cryptoCOINS, coins with INTERST, supply, market value ....
and You code transaction fee for developing....
and  you mention for plans to apply for money transmission licence....

Nobody here is not about the money
We're all here because we love flowers, butterflys and art....
.....................................
I make calculation because i also want success, for this coin. This is good coin.
Staking have purpose. Purpose of staking to keep network live = keep coin live.
Only successful future for coins to have more and more mining or staking (or both )
everyone make calculations, miners, investors ....
holders, and traders (day traders, swing traders .... )
and developers
at this moment someone read this words, and calculate
( invest or not in THIS coin ) Roll Eyes
and if I suggest something, and this is good for coin, then this is good for everyone who have or will have this coin, including you

Then you should account your calculations for the price in which you choose to liquidate and they will be more accurate Smiley Like for me, I won't sell any Niro until at least $1, this would put the staking of 1M Niro produce $30k a year... so if in lets say 2 years the price is $1 and I have been staking 1M for 2 years, I would have made $60k or $30k a year just from interest, regardless of the price as it is now Wink

I am glad for Your expectations  1NIRO = 1 $

that is current price x 600
If I by now niro  for 5 $ x 600
In 2 years initial invesment of 5$ is 3000 $.
If i spend 60 $ for VPS to stake coins i have nothing.
60$ now invest in niro = 36 000 $ after 2 year.
why i should care about staking, VPS, security of my coins on VPS ?
if I understand this is your calculations .

RPC Console -> walletpassphrase <password> <time> <stake only> so for example to unlock wallet with password: test for 2 minutes and for stake only you would type:

walletpassphrase test 120 true

This will unlock wallet for staking and mining only with last parameter set to true.
I'll add an option in the Qt to unlock it in Nexus 2.1, already high on the priority list. Smiley

Thank You,
Viz.

Edit: macorcina, you would care to stake if you'd like to earn interest and trust starting now, and have a 3% interest rate rather than 0.5% a year from now by helping contribute to the new technology Wink

I must have had a few unlucky days, mining is all good for me now.

I notice the reserves on GPU channel are increasing still, (I keep trying to drain them but can't no more!!)  What has changed?  Haven't seen the good old fractional reward for a while too!

Any idea of an ETA for GP pools?

What happens to the trust and interest if one was to go away for 2 weeks, switching everything off?

Why is VNL going up all the time and NIRO going unnoticed?

Good work keep it up.

I hope KK will finish OP soon and clean Nexus Forum.

About GPU pool, I can give a new server for Viz GPU pool with more power if needed.

About VNL, I invested a lot of bitcoin on it and I win Smiley when Nexus market will be ready I'll invest more btc on Niro.

More nodes staking does help secure the nPoS channel yes, so thank you for helping Smiley

As to Trust Key expiration if you don't stake for 1 day your key will expire requiring you to get another genesis transaction and create a new trust key starting at 0.5% interest. Most likely going to increase the expiration time to 1 week or month, depending on what you guys would like so if you have suggestions to how long you would like the expiration time to be, let me know Smiley

Vanilla has had a lot of attention, but under false pretense such as: The Angel Investor was actually John Conner.
There are also some false claims such as their staking being more energy efficient, when it is an exact line for line clone of Peercoin, just rewritten in C++ 11.

Another thing for you VNL holders, don't trust Zero Time. I found some flaws in it that would allow successful double spends at zero confirmations without 51% of network power, I'm writing a report for a friend about it and other positives / negatives with its claims / actual results.

But on another note, I'd like to extend my appreciation to everyone for helping make Nexus what it is, don't forget: By the People, for the People. To me, Nexus isn't just about profit, it's about freeing ourselves from a system designed to keep us enslaved, the more everyone works together, the more chances we have at this Freedom.

Sure, all fine. I love the idea of Niro, you are very dedicated and seem (I have near to zero coding skills) to know what you are doing.

But, however, Niro is very dependent on your work. The thing with Vanilla is, that they are very active in communicating with the community, which of course is the advantage of managing the coin full-time.

And yes, it is not only about money, but people who tell me they don't care about the price (even long-term) are simply lying. That may be different for you, because it is your project, but for all the others here it is definitely an investment somehow.

So, what can the community do? If we want to spread the word, what do we want to spread?
What is the clear and simple idea of Niro, in short, understandable catch-phrases. I bought a few Niro (former CoinShield) quite a time ago, but it is not 100% clear to me, what the direction and the idea of the coin is. I understand the POS3 aka. nPos technology and that is superior to the existing solutions, however, the market didn't take notice till now, which is not because of the hype of other coins, but because only a few know about Niro and don't really know how it works (and what is the USP). There has to be a promoter or so. I read that TradesAce (quite well known altcoin/bitcoin and forex trader on twitter) did put out a few messages regarding Niro a while ago. Is someone in contact with him?
And again, this is not about creating a short-term pump. But Niro is still a "currency", and only makes sense if there is financial interest.

My wallet stopped syncing overnight, I have 7 connections but nothing I do will allow it to start syncing again.

Any suggestions?

ETA: Just noticed from nexusniro.com that the reserves have been drained overnight.........was 3000 odd last night, now down to 420!

Good start is to email debug log to viz, his email is a few pages back in posts, u could also try deleting addr.dat to see if that helps. Otherwise u may need to resync entire chain but perhaps someone else has a better idea than that?

I'm glad that i have some of your attention.
What is the POS and why is invented ?
POS is replacement of mining. mining and pos is the same. purpose is generating NEW blok.
Without new blok any crypto coins is DEAD.
I think we agree of this.

My point is that nPOS is dissuades, even more you punish people who don't pos 24 hour.
if my electric company make to lose electric in my house more then 24 hour, or my provider drop internet connections more than 24 hour.
If your intentions is people for people, this situations is usual for hundred millions people in world .
If storm coming and cut electrical wires, for 2 day, Your nPoS calculation and design punish people.
And please don't advise my to use VPS, because if you talk about freedom, i also talk about freedom and
instead of pay 60 $/ year for VPS, i decide to buy for that amount niro and another coins,
and when someone BUY coins, that also help coins, and help all coins holders.
That stimulate more people to get involved, because then coin is not worthless.

(sorry for my english, this is not my natural language, I use words from dictionary and sometimes maybe i use wrong words, but I think you understand essence)

I would like to see it increased to 1 week because realistically there could be some cases where someone has either power or internet issues for more than 1 day resulting in loss of trust key.

Sk-miner has had a few crashes since staking became active any chance its related? Had been running stable for weeks prior.

Same here been running solid as a rock for months, now, frequent crashes of skminer experienced, diff much higher, less blocks and loads more rejects......staking works though!

Crashes i had so far have been with latest build of skminer older version has been stable +24hours now will report back if that changes.

5 days later older version 100% uptime so it's gotta be an issue with new build of skminer right?

npos is punishment not reward system.
reward system will be 3% interse, whatever.
and increase if you're staying for longer time to exemple 6%.
Also if we're talking for people to people, and main purpose for pos, secure the network, the must be LESS reward for BIGGER staking amount.

Excessive pos reward only increases inflation which reduces value of the coin for all... the system is already designed to be fair for all by giving higher trust weight for longer time without trust block and other measures all of which are already outlined by viz in previous posts. While I agree increasing trust key expiration beyond 1 day seems a reasonable measure I cant help but feel you are just here to complain that you can't immediately profit from staking the coins u have purchased/mined etc. Also I can't help but notice your calculations are rather in accurate since you don't take into account the fact that the interest rate will increase from the .5% starting value. Further there are many ways you can perform staking that will use significantly less power than running a desktop pc a few have already been mentioned but there are more than haven't such as intel nuc or the raspberry pi with such devices power consumption could be considered almost non existent (~4-6w) add to that the fact you could be staking multiple different coins on such devices and it seems to make much more sense to use such a device for staking than a desktop pc.
