Hi All

For those of you that dont know me, I've been a member of this forum since 2010.  Way back when Satoshi was still here, and difficulty was still 1!  I'm not a core dev, but have interacted with some of the dev team in the past.

I was alerted to this project and have been reviewing it for the last 2 days.

My first thought was, 'meh, yet another alt coin'!

But as I've read through the docs, the code and 65 pages of forum posts, I have become increasingly more interested.

I've donated btc to 3 projects to date:  Open Transactions, Trezor and now this one.  Here's why.

I originally became interested in bitcoin as a way to allow the internet to have its own money system.  Things have gone way better than I ever dreamed.  But there's still some functionality I'd like to see to make it scale massively.  For example, I enjoyed the bitcoin twitter integration and I think this tip I gave to Nassim Taleb was the equivalent of a Mark:

https://twitter.com/melvincarvalho/status/415195563722686464?refsrc=email

He even favourited the post!  That tells me that this is an idea worth spreading.

We've yet to see this functionality grow into bitcoind, bitcoinrpc or the bitcoin eco system in a decentralized and scalable way.  *core devs take note!*.  Satoshi was working on a reputation, advert, review, order and market system before he left, and we've yet to see that hit the core.

I believe this project can help facilitate this through running code.  And the idea will be compelling enough to be back ported into bitcoin core and other alts, without political wrangling.  Just show the scalability and let others say, 'yes we want that'.  What perhaps excites me even more is that this is just the beginning, with these scalability enhancements, crypto currencies can spread the same way the webmail spread email to the masses.

In short, this is the first alt I've seen with significant innovation to get involved.  I've donated to the project and offering my time and coding to help make it a reality.

Look forward to working with you all!  Cheesy

Thanks, that is exactly it.

Somebody with contacts and your exact mentality is currently working hard to reach out VCs who have future interest in the system we are creating (not the currency btm), perhaps something will come of that.

I quote: "it's a bit fkn annoying that timelines / cash, become so difficult when doing stuff you believe in.  hopefully we can change that paradigm [with marking]".

The irony is that this project provides the funding model for any project like it in the future, in any domain, it's a crowd sourced funding model and reputation system where if you work hard and create things people like, the likes given (marks) directly translate to money which funds what you do organically.

Perfect!

Good thinking and big thanks to You!
It is a great pleasure to have man like you in community like this.

Regards to all

TY  Smiley

For the quickest responses email mark@bitmark.co at any time - I'm online many hours each day.

tobeaj2mer01 is correct, and is a good man, yet we are also unclear.

Here is our conversation from pm around the time of investment:
..........

Thanks for your explanation, 0.5 BTC or equivalent BTM is not my concern, what I concerned is that I PMed you two times, but don't get any feedback, it pissed me off and felt not respected.

Sorry! please all reach out to mark@bitmark.co at any point for near instant replies, I don't spend much time on the forum now, all things happen in stack.

tobeaj2mer01, can we agree a suitable amount? I'd be keen to consider us all square.

Your frustration is clear, I am confident that Marks response has put you at ease. Let me further reassure you that Mark is not deliberately discounting or disrespecting you in any way. Mark has become increasingly busy the past weeks, working to bring forward a system the likes of which the crypto-currency world has never seen.

In addition, I have pledged to cover all liability within these loans, so rest assure that your investments are secured. (though I understand that is not your main concern)

I hereby request personal developer loans.

I trust that the Bitmark Community will see the magnitude of our Project and assist Project Bitmark in meeting its goals.

I will commit to pay any liability in this loan. If for any reason Mark is unable to complete repayment, I will cover any remaining balance

*(I do not foresee this to be an issue, as Mark is an honest and responsible individual)

I will make all necessary arraignments to have funds secured, 60 days from the date of the loans origination.

There looks to be a lot of promising stuff going on with this coin.  Have you thought of adding in POBH (Proof Of bag Hold) like what QiBucks has?

This is a copy paste from the Qibucks forum.  I don't think my explanation was good enough.  I read about a Bitmark IPO/reverse IPO.  This will allow people to share in the profits from the BitMark IPO.  So almost like a mutual fund.

"All HOLDERS OF QIBUCK COIN that baghold 100 or more coins at the time of the monthly audit will be eligible to receive a dividend bonus from this portion of the incoming revenues. Basically the more coins one bagholds, the larger the dividend bonus will be. This is what will help the price of QIBUCK grow over time as opposed to dwindle, due to lack of interest, dumping and moving on type of coins. Bagholders will be paid in Bitcoin. There are three pools for Bagholders. If you own 100-999 Qibuck coins you are eligible to earn from the MINI bagholder pool. If you own between 1000 and 9999 Qibuck coins you are eligible to earn from both MINI AND MIDI bagholder pools. If you are in the top category of owning 10000 plus Qibuck coins then you will earn from ALL THREE POOLS.
MINI BAGHOLDERS: 20%  - 100-999 QIBUCKS
MIDI BAGHOLDERS: 15%  -  1000-9999 QIBUCKS
MAXI BAGHOLDERS: 15% - 10000 QIBUCKS PLUS"

Disclosure: I do own some QBK but I also believe that POBH would also benefit Bitmark.

I read about a Bitmark IPO/reverse IPO.

Whoops, there was no IPO, ICO, premine or anything similar. Short version, the only people who have any BTM have mined or bought it.

Ahh okay I must of misread then.

Perhaps not, in earlier threads we explored many different funding models, and ultimately couldn't find any that was fair, so decided to just develop and request donations and see what happened.

Bitmark BTM isn't really the project, it's just the required foundation on which we can build useful things without requiring other projects to change or modify things in order for us to proceed - it's also balanced for our particular needs. One area of work we will do on bitmark is adding a powerful API.

We are creating a global reputation system, you will be familiar with 'likes' and 'upvotes' and 'karma', we have marks. A primary difference is that marks have a limited supply and are passed from person to person through the process of marking. Each mark is a divisible transferable token designed to be earned and passed as reputation from person to person, capturing the associated value, distributing the supply, and reflecting value over time - you earn marks by sharing or creating something people value, and you give marks to others for things they have shared or created.

There is quite a large document covering everything if you'd like to read more, and a growing community who'll answer any questions you may have.

These images may help visually describe what we are making.

The last one is quite subtle, it's a DAC/DA and multisig rolled in to one simple usable thing.

An official Flagship website does not yet exist, however it is almost complete. We will launch when we are satisfied with the quality of the product. We are currently developing many exciting things, one of them being Marking.

Here are some worthwhile links to read, and get acquainted with the Project.
