"It’s traditional for most people in China to go home to their families on Lunar New Year, which falls on Feb. 19 this year. China experiences a massive movement of people and gifts around the holiday, with an estimated 3.65 billion trips made during a 40-day period."

I'M BUYING AGAIN!!!

I'm not. Definitely not.

There's something quite disturbing and unsettling about how people follow these devs with such adoration and fanaticism, and then when the dev does something that in any normal realm would have them be virtually struck off as unreliable and untrustworthy (i.e. a job, a business, a normal project being executed with real face-to-face people), everyone comes up with all sorts of accommodative excuses.

I'm sorry but I think we all need to face up to a harsh truth here. He was last online here on BCT on February 16, 2015, 09:07:09 AM and on SCT on February 15, 2015, 12:42:30 AM. That's over 5 days now.

Whether Mr Spread is off celebrating Chinese New Year or he's on a beach somewhere having a break, it's completely and utterly unacceptable to leave people hanging like this, especially given the crypto realm's history of hacks and scams.

I am so sick of taking an interest in things like this that end up being (yet again) massive disappointments. Honestly, it's just complete BS and that we're now all speculating as to what's happened is testament to how silly we've let things get in this online world where normal rules of decency and accountability have just been trampled on (good grief, try explaining this to someone not involved in crypto - it can't be justified. I need to get away from this ridiculousness).

Either Mr Spread has bailed or he's had some calamitous thing happen and he's in hospital unable to logon to these forums, he's being held somewhere against his will, he's had a family tragedy and is completely focussed on that as a far higher priority (which it is) or he's dead.

Even if he comes back now to tell us he was away at Chinese NY celebrations, how can anyone possibly expect SPR to be taken seriously?

Not everyone is so "attached". I'm not writing him off just yet, there still could be a reasonable reason for his absence.

why does everyone take all this SO seriously? ...

if you have 'invested' in crypto so much so that this actually pisses you off - then you are seriously in the wrong industry ...

we have never been so entrenched in anything but our projects - thats it ... am thats how we will stay ...

there is only ONE stance / creed that we stand by - and will only ever stand by this one thing ... if you cannot afford to lose out ( whether it be money - time - effort - or all of those things ) then you SHOULD NOT be in it in the first place ... never invest more than you can lose ... simple ...

as frustrating as it can be - we take this with a grain of salt ...

even our own projects can be failures ... yet even from those projects - we can learn so much ...

its not all over unless EVERYONE loses interest in it ... whatever that may be - in this case spr ...

smile ...

Do you guys know that Internet access outside China's big cities are behind the Great Firewall? Just do a search on "China ban Bitcointalk" and you might understand more. And by the way if you have been to China during Chinese New Year, you would understand and give Mr. Spread another one week to be online.

You must be blind if you do not see the similarities between this and carsen's long string of coins.

Hey eightspace. Lets see you evaluate this nut.

I've done it, i'm admitting to it, but i did not threatened him due to him trying to be a bring down SPR (create FUD and crap and all that) being a threat to my investments per say as would one normally think:

Lets put it in context from my perspective:
<snip>

carsen is that you ?

Well said and another thing Mr Spread has done a lot of good work for this coin and now if something is wrong or he cant be online (for any reason) some people blame him they will regret later for now my advice is to sell their coins and get out of here

My guesses on what the dev is doing:

1. Adjusting the algo to make it even harder for pools
2. Doing the day job and working on a tight deadline
3. Still can't escape the ropes since that tall blonde he met at the bar tied him up
4. Feet up, by a pool somewhere sunny taking a break
5. Rewriting masternodes
6. Recovering from a hangover
7. Recovering from man flu

add

Chinese New Year celebrations.

Hadn't thought of that. Thanks.

I didn't buy any Spreadcoin, because of the terrible branding, and the lone anon dev, but I seriously considered it and have followed it closely. Some people invest thousands of dollars into cryptos, serious money, and if the dev robs them of their money using lies, and vanishes, that is bad for cryptos and for those of us that like the more revolutionary aspects of it. It gives excuses for regulators and the banning of cryptos, and limiting of freedom. They are abusing freedom to the point of risking ours.

Oh, for the record, when the dev vanishes for a long time, that means they are fucking everyone over. Had it happen enough, and you can't imagine how many excuses I could try to think up to make myself not feel like someone I trusted had robbed me, even had it happen with non anon devs. Good luck though, but really, it looks bad. Marking this one off my list of cryptos to keep track of.
