This coin started promisingly but has faltered because of your inability to market yourselves and your coin in an effective way

Fully agree.

Also down to a lack of a Foundation from the start.

So now Donationcoin still has 3 team members, the same 3 but a simple shift of leadership.

Sterlingcoin has 3 team members, the same 3 but again just a shift of leadership.

Hope this clears that up a bit and shows no one has "deserted" anyone.

OK, great explanation of the current situation, and it certainly serves to put my mind at rest.

Now I think we have all reached the point where the devs can stop explaining and apologising and everyone else can stop whingeing and moaning.

Time to move on.

Let's not forget we have a coin which is, fundamentally, one of the best out there.  We also have a great dev team, now suitably re-shuffled.

All that we lack is a Foundation to tie it all together.

I personally suspect that it would be best for SLG to progress a little further on the technical front first before we start organising anything around marketing and publicity; we need to see Cystum up and running, if only to restore community confidence that this whole project is regaining momentum.

Then we take the next steps........

I have tested to send a coin to cryptsy. I did not reach the destination. Also going to test to send to Bittrex.

In regards to Bittrex specifically, while trying to get Bittrex to update to v1.5.1, I received this communication from Richie Lai of Bittrex:

Hey Steven,

I've been trying to unwind a bunch of bad transactions... It looks like we have deposits dating back almost a month that somehow were orphaned? There are also a bunch of bad deposits starting from Monday. Do you guys have a foundation or something that can help us recover coins? It looks like we're out about 42k in bad deposits. I've resynced now but can't reopen until we make our balance whole.

Thanks,
Richie

I have responded to Richie and informed him that we do not have a foundation. I also told him I would reach out to our community. As you may know, the dev found has long been depleted by server costs and none of those funds remain. I with all of my own personal Sterlingcoin and on behalf of the Sterlingcoin developers, could contribute half of the 42k to do this if the community can aid with the rest. It does appear any action should wait until after the fork.

How did it happen. Can we prevent so it does not happen again?

I can contribute to fill the mug with another 10k. If someone else is willing to contribute with the missing fourth?

I can contribute the last 10K SLG.

Quote
How did it happen.
There was to few wallets present supporting the first fork attempt.

Quote
Can we prevent so it does not happen again?.
Yes, by having the majority of wallets on the network ready for the fork and upgraded to v1.5.1

Thank you oneoff and MrBee! I knew I could count on you guys! Another person has come forward privately to contribute 5k SLG to this also. We will easily be able to cover the 42k SLG. If anyone else would like to contribute, publicly or privately, please do so as you now know we will reach this goal and your effort and contribution will not be in vain. If more of the community members contribute, it will lessen the burden needed by each individual contributor.

We have confirmed with Bittrex that trading of Sterlingcoin will continue on Bittrex after the fork. They have upgraded to v1.5.1 and are ready for the fork and to open trading after they can reconcile.

Thank you for your continued support Sterlingcoiners!

We are still working on the Mac and Windows v1.5.1 binaries. The Linux v1.5.1 is available there now for build.

The fork problem happend because you released 1 wallet with different code. Never do that. After that It should have been stoped and downgraded when you could not compile the windows wallet.

Why do you tell linux users to keep their blockchain? Its the wrong chain if you want to downgrade the DB. We are still having two chains and cant send coins. Problem with cryptsy wallet can also happen.

My coinage just reseted here probably because of the linux blockchain.

I have never seen a coin have so much trouble with their wallet.  I'm not sure how many people are left in the crew but this wallet situation is becoming embarrassing.

So, the dude who left, who was working on wallet, can't you ask him to fix !?

I've seen this same problem in TES. A fork was unintentionally made and Cryptsy was in the wrong chain. They move back to right chain.

Focusing on SLG:

First of all,

Everybody stop trading in exchanges that are in the wrong chain. (Bittrex?)

2) If 1.5 is not ready for Win/Mac/Linux, noone has to have it.

Right now, we should be all in the same version. 1.4

Sorry my quietness the last few weeks and also have to apologise for the other guys as Steve is away from Ohio in Ireland dealing with immigration issues and Matt is buried in php work for Sterlingcoin.

@DEV guys: any news? We again missed another planned date (7th Sep), no wallets are available and again no information provided. Any real planned date when we can have at least wallets ready? We need to act immediately as coin is going to die and without wallets and trading we cannot help you ...

I am sure that we all appreciate the fact that the  devs are under a bit of pressure, so they need to be given time to sort all this stuff out.

That being said, the wallet situation is clearly the limiting factor in SLG's development, and until that is sorted we are going nowhere.

I don't think SLG is likely to die, but the longer it takes to fix the wallet issue the greater the risk becomes.

I really hate hassling the devs, but occasional updates here would certainly help to calm people's nerves.  Wink

Dev team, could you please post a short line once a week to update us all?

Thanks.
