Is there plans to get the wallet and miner converted to C? Java just eats up too much ram and causes crashes/reboots, even if all the ram isn't used.

Porting the wallet to C would be a lot of work, and it would a pain to maintain and ensure compatibility between them. A C thin client wouldn't be out of the question at some point, but its not a priority.

I've found that most miner issues are actually windows prefetching eating up peoples' ram, not the miner, however dcct did make a C miner also.

Strange, I have prefetch and superprefetch off to avoid excessive writes to my my two rigs with SSD's on the OS drives. Must be something else causing it.

could it be because of SSD ? i am using HDD and i never encounter any problem u have. Or maybe its because of solo mine ? I never solo mine before. I am satisfied with my payout on pool for many days. Why not give pool mining a try ? u might be surprise. Especially uray pool did a server upgrade recently and everything is better than before

i have a similar problem mining plots on a NAS drive. Tried it on two different PC and both would periodically crash due to out of memory issues. i don't get this problem with 3 other drives physically connected to one of my PC. the NAS drive is formatted as ext3 whist the others are NTFS so i'm leaning to the fact there is a difference in reading ext3 based drive data?

Windows needs a driver to read/write with EXT3/2 and I think Linux can read/write to NTFS with no issues. Maybe the coding needs a re-haul and be optimized more.

As long as it is a shared drive it doesn't matter on the Guest OS what Filesystem it has, as reading/writing is done on the server.

Is there any working GPU plotter for AMD 14.4 or later?

I tried to generate one but the hash was not same as those created with AMD 13.9 drivers

also memory leaks.. plz if someone have time look at it.. we are all wasting so much ram right now

Im surprised to hear about memory issues.  I only have 8 gigs of ram ddr3 2400 but have 3 mining instances open, had 2 plotting instances (cpu) but one now, watching hd movie on my tv through video card , bfgminer using my 2 u2+ miners, utorrent seeding lots of files, multiple IE windows open, wallet running and few other little apps and my physical memory says 28% used....

I really dont know why the miner needs so much ram, i tried everything from 300 to 1000 in the settings, seems to work the longest with 650mb.
I have an old Platform (X58) with tripplechannel and 6GB of ram.
Maybe because of tripplechannel theres an issue.

It didn´t acure while i had less then 4TB plottet.
Sometimes my RAM usage is up to 100% while mining and at some point it crashes.

I ordert 12gb of ram last week, should arrive totday.
I hope this will solve the problem, but honestly i dont think so, will see.

In your performance summary how much memory usage does the miner actually show?  I think you may try updating your java.

I updated it before starting mining, but i will do it again, maybe it helps.

memory usage is high.. I think there is memory leak in the miner... I am at 80-90%+ with 8Gb of ram

but do you still see error??? if not then that was issue.. I dont know default value but Xmx1024 lets java use max 1024Mb

That's not a memory problem.  It's not really a "problem" at all - has something to do with the file but doesn't cause any issue, you can ignore it.

The part you want to notice is "Dead Letters".  When you see that, you can ignore it.

Well this is a ram error.
I don´t know if the "Java heap space" problem will be fixed by more System Ram.
