it seems that "an energy efficient cryptocurrency" is not really fit, because PoS coins actually use less energy, and "HDD mined cryptocurrency" is too technical, i believe burst innovation is more than HDD mined, its a lot more, we need a tagline that describe its uniqness, features, technologies to target not only technical people but all cryptofinance user

I'm thinking of mining Burst. I have a 4tb WD cloud network drive. Can this drive be used, or do I need a regular HDD right off the MB?
I've tried searching, but 748 pages is a long read.

It doesn't matter where the files are stored if they can be read fast enough. For 4 tb you'll need to read approximately 1 gb per block.
If read speed is 10 mb/s, files will be read in ~100 s. As many blocks are found faster than that, miner will be able to use only part of plotted space on these short blocks.

Would be nice to have an FAQ on the website, and this would be a good question to add to it!

It's less secure than using a local wallet, even if you trust website owner and SSL is setup properly etc. The website can be hacked, and it's more likely to become a target of hackers once becoming popular. If you only want to check the balance, this can be done without submitting the passphrase.

I'm thinking about approaching Sea Gate or WesternDigital or some similar company about sponsoring Burst Coin, what do you think?

Think about it, Bitcoin miners have probably sold $1/2 billion in ASICs?  Ask a hard drive manufacturer if he's willing to spend maybe $100,000 a year in order to be called our official sponsor and get an ad on the homepage, which will help us get this coin seriously off the ground, and drive hard drive sales his way.. you may be able to convince one or two.  We've already got ~ 1 million dollars worth of hard-drives mining for the network... now imagine we had a little bit of money.

Or would the crypto currency community be turned off by sponsorship?  I think worth it to get that money and try to hire a few full time developers with it. We could help them set up a mining pool as well or something.

What do you guys think? Should I write a letter to either Western Digital or Seagate?  Anyone want to help me write it?

It is Energy efficient.. once set-up, we barely use any more energy than PoS.  Especially if we could get one small addition to the code that I assume doesn't exist now.  If using an external, or non-primary hard drive to mine, allow switching it off when not in use.  Then what each miner turns on a couple times a day for a few seconds, mines, determines the next deadline, then turns off until approximately that time?  Seems quite energy efficient to me.

I think the advantages are:

ASIC resistant
Blockchain Trimmable  (this to me is the huge advantage over Nxt.. the one developer claims he's figured out how.. I say it's impossible though. Of course he's claiming he may add Proof of Work to the equation to do this.. and there goes their energy efficiency. Maybe best to implement this first before bragging about it though)

No, a plot is linked to your numeric account id. The pass phrase is only required to sign nonces while mining. It would be cool to buy hdd's pre plotted with the hdd manufacturers great miner

Wow, BURST is doing amazing.  We are up big time in the last week, while most other alt coins are dropping ( https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-price-explosion-leads-altcoin-price-drop/ ).  You have to consider that not only has BURST nearly doubled in value, we are holding tight against a major Bitcoin upswing.  I am definitely glad I have been in to this awesome coin since almost the beginning. Great dev(s), excellent community, solid technology - this has been a lot of fun!

Oh yea, BURST is still the only coin that allows you to enter the crypto market with HDD space.  WINNING!

Then when all investors find out they *try* to sell, but can't, cause the money diappeared, and the pool dies.
