Fork the coin else this project is dead. Simple as. It's not an easy decision to make and some people might lose out on it, but they stand to lose everything if this keeps up.

Has anyone been able to traceroute the attacker's IP? If it's a VPN maybe contact them and tell them that their network/service is being abused or call their local serious crime agency. This is theft at the end of the day, and with over $2m market cap it's not a small sum to go missing.

So if there's a fork, what happens to the coins I have earned?  Do I lose them?

How does a fork solve the problem?  Not being flippant, I am seriously curious how that helps. What about the coin needs to change to address this attack?

I don't believe those finding are accurate. According to mine with 122 hashrate, I am supposedly bringing in
 Contributor Hashrates
Rank     User Name    KH/s            XMG/Day
1       gregor    2,083    219.954
2       anonymous    952            100.566
3       mapt           472            49.822
4       ace            208           21.959
5       Cooper54    129            13.655

In over couple months and on 2 different pools and with staking, I have just today managed to bring my total XMG to 13....(unless I am understanding these pages incorrectly. If I am, I would greatly appreciate someone helping to clear this up for me.

Its saying that right now cos the overall network hashrate is low. currently saying its 38,000kh/s overall. the lower the overall network hashrate the higher xmg you get.

I would stop using Minerclaim because of their lack of moderation on hashrates, but with my ultra-low hashrate across my android phones, old(ish) computers and free VPS servers, I would need to mine for days to get 1 xmg on Trasmamod (my old pool).

despite the high hashes on Minerclaim its the best place to mine coins from my testing. the other issues if you have a hasrate of under 200 or 300 you really wont earn much.

I updated to latest wallet and got it going. Is it worth staking? From what I read there are lots of issues at the moment. I like this coin, got my interest in 2015 and I mined it till last year. I have a fair bit of coins and not interested to dump so I am keen staking if it's worth. I encrypted the wallet but can't stake as it says I don't have enough weight. I have over 6000 xmg in it. Thought minimum to stake is 100 coins?

I am staking with my 13 Xmg. Had a payout from staking yesterday and says I should have one again in a couple days.

Weight is to do with the number of confirmations a block of coins has:
Roughly:
0-519           Conformations = Low weight not enough for staking
520-9,999    Ideal staking range
10,000+      To old to stake

To reset the Weight/conformations just send them to yourself, then wait a day or so and you'll start "staking".

I tested this some days ago. Minerclaim vs Trasmamod with one raspberry (I know not with a 64Bit Os, but for comparison its okay), and after 3 Days, Trasmamod made more rewards. here is the information in a post https://earl3000.wordpress.com/. Minerclaim finds the blocks faster, but since there are more workers your rewards is smaller.

Hope this helps Grin
