It's a political ploy. In the past, God and the Bible were the places one went to find law. Now, with God and the Bible being downplayed in favor of evolution and freedom to make your own law, there is freedom to do anything among the masses. This gives government the right to do anything, as well, including taking over the people by pushing them into a dictatorship.

In addition, the devil likes it, because it makes God angry at more people. Frustrated is more like it. God gives people all the good gifts in life, even salvation, and when they simply ignore Him, He gets frustrated. His frustration will bring about the destruction of the people if they don't turn. The devil, the enemy of God, loves it when God's plans don't succeed, even if he is destroyed in the process.
