Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

So if I have 1 million coins, I need to divide them up into 10 100k Netcoin blocks? how will the client know I need to earn 80%?

Or do I just keep my 1 million coins in one block to earn the 80%?

You only need to keep the coin in your wallet, in 1 block, the wallet will handle the rest. Smiley

They won't split either so you don't have to worry about that.

I am worried about whales with 10 million plus coins. Do you guys have a richlist so I can see who the top holders of netcoin are?

There is a rich list somewhere, but to be honest it doesn't really tell you that much, as exchanges and such are listed on there... So it is hard to tell what is what... I don't have the link for it, it's not a website that I run.

any plans for marketing. I think that PoSV is a nice feature. But the title of this thread doesn't really explain that? Also has PoSV been successful on testnet?

Yes we'll be working on the promotion side of things soon as the switchover happens, right now I am more concerned that we switch over safely and everyone is up to date with the new wallet etc... To me the POSV is minor compared with PIR! Smiley

I think that is our best feature here, not that I don't like the POSV feature.

And yes it was successful on testnet, all of it was thoroughly tested before release, so it should go smoothly come changeover time. Smiley

@Kearney52

Yes not long now, to be fair it was released on the Netcoin official forum before anywhere else and e-mails were sent out through the site regarding the change a few days ago, we have been very busy going round and updating our own sites as well as letting other people know such as cryptsy and bter coinpayments etc...

I haven't even posted on cryptcointalk yet, there is always so much to do. But we've broken the back of it now, maybe one of these days I'll get a day off XD

EDIT: Oh sorry are you saying 3 days is too long? It is important we allow people some time to update to the new wallet so there are no problems during the switchover. Who, wanted it to be a month! You're lucky I was there! XD

Sure it is, to be honest I was going to go all out POS, we kept the POW purely as some like to do it. But personally I would have killed it off sooner.

Oh but actually it is a toss up, as these are yearly percentages... So if you have a 100k netcoins it will take you a year to get 15%

I think I could do better than that mining Wink

Guys, I have a request... Is there anyone out there that knows how to block a time warp attack as a temporary measure until we switch? Maybe I should make a thread to ask this question so that it might be seen better?

EDIT: Anyway as an update bter have updated, coinpayments tell me they are on it, and I have done the pool and explorer... Still waiting on word from cryptsy.

EDIT: Found the rich list btw https://coinplorer.com/NET/Addresses/0/Top

I hope you have all updated to the new wallet guys, we still have plenty of time left though, and just to let you know I have updated the wallet with the windows netcoind and I have built both with the latest ssl 1.0.1i, so you may like to update again, it's not mandatory though. But I would advise it for your own peace of mind...

Also I have added a couple of links to the bottom of the OP that lead to some articles written by who, Netcoins lead developer. I think they are very well written and a fun read! So please do have at it and join the discussion, thanks so much. Smiley
